Personally I currently do not enjoy pvp in this game at all...I have played for 3 years and pvp has not received any significant changes. If Turbine/WB were to add something similar to a battleground or a more organized pvp system where people compete in an arena type environment I would pay $30 or so. But seriously Turbine, I have seen half of my friends list quit the game in the past year who had been playing since the closed beta program because pvp was so dull. Get your #### together, people want change. Did you ever think that possibly more people would play the game(meaning more cash in your pockets) if you weren't always demanding money for things that should be regular updates included with the game.
Sincerely,
A player who loves what this game is, and what it could someday be.
As much as I despise PvP in general, I do believe it's about time they gave the players that do enjoy it some new locations. I mean the PvP community has received little to NOTHING new ever since launch day. This is plain bothersome, I personally would feel cheated and would leave the game if I were continuously promised something only to get it stolen away from the package later on, with a lackluster excuse that doesn't quite justify the lack of added content in the (meta-)game.
I wouldn't pay anything extra for it myself, but I would say that I would probably pay as much as I would for say a quest pack(To pull a comparison on things I would purchase). Now, I full well realize people will bullcrap me for saying this, because "QQ DER IZ MUR CONTNT IN QUESTZ LUL" but no, there is not. You pull through a zone once, and never look back to it. A PvP zone(or battleground whatever you want to call it) will last the average PvP player far longer, and will thus more than likely be worth the few TPs you spend on unlocking it.
Now, keep in mind that the topic is about what we would WANT to spend. Not whether or not we received any maps they promised. If we go by that logic, nobody would pay a dime I'd say. But I'm basing this post ignoring their past promises, and simply offering my insight in what I could potentially pay should I feel like doing PvP. This in no way means I support Turbine's god awful habit of removing promised features, but that's a whole other slice of cake.
Also to the idiots that keep saying "OMGLOL I NO PAY FUR UR PVP CONTENT CUZ I NVR UZE", yeah it doesn't work that way in an MMO. An MMO is a dynamic(well, sort of) online environment with MORE people in it than just you. The game nor everything in it will ever always be tailored to your specific likings. There's things you'll enjoy and use, and things you may never even TOUCH. Hell, I played this game vividly during Launch Days, but never really played it after I hit 20 on my characters back then. BUT I still loved the game, I purchased the expansions and came back to level a little every now and again over time. Did I use everything I paid for? Hell no, but I had fun with what I did. Or take a RolePlayer for example, they might never level above a certain level so they can use a specific look in the game, and use the rest of their time to.. well, roleplay. Did they pay for things they'll never use? Hell yes, do they complain? No, because they have fun regardless.
MMORPGs are not single player games you can purchase the DLC(DownLoadable Content) for only YOU want. It's a social hub, a game where many sorts of players gather. You sometimes pay for things you don't use, but if they DON'T offer that content.. They sure as hell will not be lowering their price, so you'd pay the same non the less. Might as well include it and have it there sitting idle on your account for the same price and keeps the other players happy right?(Unless you're a selfish ######, in which case I suggest you stop playing MMOs, no seriously.)
I do not recall there being anything said about a PvP map with Siege of Mirkwood. MoM and RoI both mentioned the same map. At best you are owed one.
I would not pay anything for a PvP map. PvP in Lotro sucks. It always has.
You missed out last book. It was probably as close to perfect balance since it has been in about 4 years. But I'll agree with you on one thing, I also enjoy PvP games where people can hack and glitch their way to the top without getting banned.

Your right, I liked the idea of fighting scripted mobs that are completely predictable in every way shape and form better too!
In terms of the OP, we are long overdue a map, and further increase in PvMP system design.(Remember Orion's hint about PvMP skirmishes that never happened? )
Way too much coffee and choc...head buzzing a little
I think there should be 3 creep maps.
1).One for those creeps that only ever seem to pve....no freeps can enter.(should keep the pvers, and younger players happy)- lots of npcs
2).One for solo's that love their fight club pvp, group/raid disabled so cant share infamy and have to solo.- no npcs
3).One for groups and raids, with capture flag/ king of the hill type scenarios available.- no npcs
Would stop the clubbers from complaining about raid babies, the raiders from complaining about clubbers farming, the questers complaining they cant get anything done without being ganked.
I wouldn't pay even though I'm an avid PvPer, not just because I'm a Lifer but because I refuse to give Turbine any more of my money, since the Store has become the new game.
I would not pay anything for new pvp maps. In fact I would pay to see pvp removed from the game. If I want to pvp I will do it in a game where skill matters more and grinding superior gear is not a factor in the equation at all.
Nothing,
I would pay for the ability to play a character on the side of Saruman though and PVP in frontier zones. I would pay for an entire seperate expansion.
"Whaddya mean it's ONLY a Balrog. You get your skinny but up here and tank MR. "LOREMASTER" " Guardian after Raid wipe on Balrog. I was the Loremaster..... Guardians get so huffy about repair bills. LAWLZ
Love it when people who never spent more than 2 minutes in Ettenmoors comment in threads like this.
Glad I'm not the only one that thought that. Seems weird that people that don't even PvP feel the need to chirp up with their irrelevant opinions in a PvP thread.
I would not pay anything.
I don't PvP in MMORPG's I find the concept strange and wrong for the genre.
Just like I would find, adding RP servers to "Battlefield" or similar FPS games so people can RP WWII soldiers or whatnot, really really odd and misplaced in genre.
That said, if it's true that Turbine officially PROMISED a new map, and then did not deliver....Well that's just appalling.
Maybe I'm weird for having opinions about stuff that does not matter to me, but hey...I'm okay with that.

We have been promised more than once. We were promised when moria was announced that a new pvmp map will be included. We again got the same promise when RoI was announced. Not sure about if anything was said when they announced mirkwood. So yes, we have been promised numerous times and been let down numerous times.
Inorder to give turbine an incentive to do what theyve been promising for as long as I can remember to provide new PVP maps for us.
How much would you pay for these maps? if turbine could be persuaded to release them..
I love PVP so much as a creep that pvp content is more valuable than expansions like isengard or riders of rohan..both of which I will not buy..ever until you fix ettens..
Discuss?
thankye kindly,

Nothing! loTRO is a PvE based game and the PvP map we have is a after thought. If I want PvP I play a game that is PvP based. Turbine shpuld not spend any development time on PvP.

I love this argument. If there was no pvmp at all in this game you find find that all the servers would see a noticable difference in population.
are you fraking kidding? i payed for RoI which was "supposed" to contain a new PvMP map which has yet to be delivered.
Actually, they cancelled the new PvMP map before anyone could even pre-order RoI, so it's a little specious to claim that you "paid" for it.
As for me... I'd pay zilch for a new map. The last time I did any PvMP in this game was 2008, and a new map isn't going to make any difference in terms of its appeal to me.
I would imagine it'd be released with an expansion, which I would then probably buy mostly for the zone. Otherwise I'm already a VIP so if they released it as an update I suppose I would have already paid for it. I would much rather prefer a pvmp server of some sort though, or if they released a mini-expansion with a few new pvp maps that would be amazing.
I reckon it probably varies a lot from server to server, but on Silverlode at least, there are a small number of dedicated PvMP'ers who don't appear to do a lot of raiding content, but otherwise a large number (perhaps a majority) of 75's who actively do level 75 content also do PvMP at least somewhat regularly. I'm only rank 4, but I'm not sure I'd stick around if PvMP got the axe completely as I do enjoy it sometimes and hope to do it more, especially if something like battlegrounds were introduced.
Population figures aside, I'm sure a hell of a lot of those with 75 characters only maintain VIP for PvMP.
In regards to the OP: I'd buy a $30 expansion that included marginal PvE content (maybe a new instance and book and no new area) that was otherwise PvMP focused (Moors alternative/revamp/whatever, battlegrounds, etc.).
We have paid all along for a full game. We have been promised a new PvMP zone many times, and seen nothing past new hats, cosmetic backpacks and and ever expanding Lotro store while being told they do not have the time to work on a new map. I am sure great care must be put into more and more tripe to cram into the game.
Lotro is a stunning game, with great potential for all sorts of players. But for some reason those of us who enjoy PVP are seen as lesser players by others, and Turbine alike,
Do not give us a new map. War is coming, the Riders of Rohan will be on the move. Let us out of the moors and give the free people of middle earth something to really fight. You want epic battles in Rohan? Fight the creeps.

0 dollars. If I want to play PVP, I'll go play a game that has decent PVP. PVP was just tacked on for LOTRO to appease the players that wanted it and it's never going to be decent.LOTRO is a PVE game.
idk, but id pay quite a bit for all the pvers in this thread to be forced to pvp for one day . ^^
PvEers just don't realise that when all the grinding is done and you've got all the gear you need, that's when the game truly starts and you go to do PvP.
The reason they don't realise this? They aren't playing the game properly. Unless they think that grinding a raid for a raid set is actually to help you beat that raid... wait what?
I have tried PVP and didnt make any sense freeps against freaks or preeps or whatever they are called, you dont have classes like normal classes like guardian/healer etc, they got some weird names, the skills have some weird names that dont make any sense for a new player so why waste your time with something that doesnot make sense?
Whether you like pvp or not isn't really the point. Some people only sub to this game for pvp (and vice versa). I happen to know 6-7 people in my kin that don't pve at all. Are these customers worth less than others for that reason? If pvp was taken from this game, then yea, quite a number of subscribers would stop paying. Maybe nothing to make a huge dent, but it's still paying customers who enjoy a part of this game...just like everyone else.
I don't understand this pvper vs pver attitude, we're all here because we enjoy lotro. We should be supporting each other to keep customers and to keep the game alive.
That being said, i'd not pay extra for a new pvp map, i'd expect it in the expansion.

.
This is exactly how I feel. Even though I never never PvP and never will, I still feel that that Turbine's neglect to the Pvpers is criminal. It's been far too long for them to get some attention.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

I might pay to remove you from the game, but I'm not a dick.

Like we haven't heard that before.

Level a toon to 75 on Branywine, PvMP gets removed, Brandywine dies, I'm not joking. We've had dozens of transfers recently just for PvMP.
They should fix Creeps before making a new map. PvMP is a joke at the moment. Freeps herp the derp and Creeps go boom.
Morvathir 65 Guardian (Rank 7), Morcallor 65 Craptain (Rank 0.5), other toons unworthy of mention. Slavetothebum R4 Reaver, Bummagic R2, other toons unworthy of mention cause they have not done the rite of initiation.

They are called Creeps. thx for the insult though...
Creepside while not mirrored to Freepside does have class archetypes : Healer, tank, stealth, dps, cc.
And yea skills on Creepside are going to have different names. We are after all playing on the dark side. Followers of Sauron. Uruks, Orcs, Stalkers and Weavers are not going to have skill names such as "Chord of Salvation" . ; )

What? Sorry? weird names Kantaryo - whats that name anyways, a game console or something from the 70's? I think I used to play pong or table tennis on it or something like that but the skill set didnt make sense
anyways like a previous poster remarked - its nice to know our PvMP side to the game is really annoying those people in the 'Safe Zones'. PvMP wasnt "tacked on" - it was there from the start when I first played this game at launch all those many lost lives ago.
My dollars are just as good as yours.
Keep your joints oiled freeps - for if you dont: Rigormortis has incapacitated you!!
We have been promised a new PvMP zone many times...
Where "many" equals "two".

Until 6 months before launch, Turbine insisted that there would be NO form of PvP in LoTRO. The did an abrupt, public, about face at that time and announced PvMP. So, yes, PvMP was "tacked on at the last minute,"

ive been thinking about this since MoM. The best way they can do the new area combat system is have a call to arms (25v25 or open selection) in a Helms deep situation with multiple take points on a push scenario both with main base camps and the main base camps are untakeable, tickets determine round duration maybe (thoughts on that please) with NPC combat happening while the game is going.
Example: 5 event game
Beginning: both sides have a base camp and have to push out to the first flag area. the Creeps must take the flag for a duration which will in turn summon the bomb runners to the wall while the freeps defend it causing the bomb timer to count backwards the longer they are inside the location. At this stage in the game the Creeps get a super solider for there first assault (troll maybe or elite Urk)
Early Mid: once the bomb has been placed the game becomes interesting, the freeps must push to camp 1 to hold it so they can summon a bomb disarmer, while the creeps must push to camp 2 to summon the boomstick runner. durations working as same for the decrease and expanding time lines. Creeps get only access to one Urk or troll at this point of the game.
Mid Game: if the creeps are successful in blowing up the wall the game then moves to the inner court yard, meaning the freeps must push back to camp 2 if they want to defend (some sorta wall of units is then installed to replace the actual wall that was blown up if the freeps are successful in re-establishing camp 2, and the creeps have to push to camp 3 taking out the helms deep farms and basic solider production area. This Point no new advanced soliders urk or troll or ranger or elf can join but the current 1's will not be removed unless killed (adds a need for them and a use for the system)
Early Late Game: if the freeps are unsuccessful in holding the third camp it is pushing into the courtyard combat. at this point the freeps having lost the solider production get a advanced guard solider (less of them but alot stronger, maybe with a elf squad) to assist them in combat (hopefully not limited to 1 or is a actual player role (3 or so)). the creeps having taken the farm then gain more soilders but can no longer produce the Advanced Guards on the creep side. While the creeps hold the camp area in the courtyard they are advancing a ram to the hall of kings to take it down.
End Game: This is the final point in the game where the freeps must defend the hall of kings from the creeps and the advanced guard number is increased to 5 for the freep side while the creeps have no option for new advanced guards. if the creeps are successful in taking the king out it is game over and the game resets, but the freeps can push the army back with advanced soliders and the king himself (will never leave throne room) if the freeps take the courtyard camp the rohan can push out and push them backwards to the courtyard repairing the door for a small ammount of time (any second take of the courtyard and forcing the ram in will take half the time as the door is damaged already)
just a little thought on it, im hoping turbine reads this as they did read my loremaster heal post when they were looking at fixing classes before isen ^.^
No extra because it should be included with the update , they added pvp to the game from the start ...
Well, not really. They added it in the last six months (out of how many years?) of development. I assume the venture-capitalists who owned Turbine at the time thought it would bring in extra players, make more money. Didn't work, did it?

Its brought in players and money. Of course not as much as it could because its been so underdeveloped for so long. Of course thats what ppl like you want isnt it?
