Thread: Are We Out of Luck

I don't buy from the store, I play this game, in large part, to craft. This makes this a crafting issue more than a store issue.

According to the screenshot provided by Ceoholm, the new store bought armor is slightly better than anything we can craft ingame. I craft for fun and for profit. Usually a small profit especially at lower levels. Could we please get some recipes to at least compete with the store?? Please?

It's a lot better actually. Available at Level 1 and infinitely reuseable hand-me-down to the next alt who can wear that type of armour. While is it BOA it is not BOE. You can unequipe it and give to anther alt.

They have removed recipes but have yet not put any back that would compete with the Store armours. This also impacts Tailors as well.

While on the face it negates crafted armour, it also negates quest/drop armour too. There is only 1 set in the game atm the might compare to what you can buy (skirmish set). There may be a change coming to quest/dropped armour too. Perhaps like in skirmishes you will get "quest marks" to buy armour rather than drops or quest rewards.

I strongly believe people will still go to the auction house first before spending rl cash on items.

Where did you get the information that a level 1 can wear it? The store ad says minimum level 20 required to equip.

There are some dev responses regarding this. T1 = Level 1, T2 = Level 10, T3 = Level 20.

Since this thread has a Tier 3 - Level 20 item linked in it. I was concerned that there is a disconnect between the actual in game item and the store ad.

There's definitely a disconnect somewhere...

Oh and it was reported in that Other Thread, you can vendor these for ingame gold. So you can rack up the TPs on your account listed CC, buy from the store, vendor for gold.

I purchase the Golden Robes of the Benefactor I (Tier I Light Armor) for 150 TP and was able to sell them for 125 silver. By my calculations, buying a $199.99 TP bundle gives 23,000 and can be converted into 19 gold and 125 silver. I don't have any information on the vendor value of the other armor ...

I think we can safely leave the pitchforks & torches in the shed on this one. As geoboy points out, you need to spend Turbine Points (aka real money) to get these items. As such, those items are competing as much with EVERY other item a person might desire in the store as any alternative item that a crafter could produce. The overwhelming majority of players in the game do not have an infinite bankroll and do not equip all of their characters with the best of everything found in the store.

Even the description of how to turn real life cash into in-game cash seems insane. There might be people out there willing to spend $200 on 19 gold in-game, but that to me seems like an absolutely horrid deal. To anyone with that kinda discretionary spending ability: you go right ahead and "fill yer boots!" I feel pretty secure in the notion that most players can't be bothered to spend 300ish TP on one piece of armour that will last them maybe 10 levels regardless of how many of their alts can use it.

We might lose a few sales from players who have fairly fat wallets, but I think by and large, our gear is still pretty marketable across a lot of levels. I'm WAY more inclined to start the revolt over the fact that players can find yellow quest loot that is better than most of the T7 crafted armour on-level. Fem gear anyone? THAT's what we should be pulling out the torches and pitchforks over.
