    HELP! My character is GONE?

    Okay I started playing LOTRO about mid way through 2011. Unfortunaly I had to restart my computer to factory settings wich deleted the game.And I only just recently redownloaded the game, I logged on to my account and and go to play on my character but its gone? I did not delete it, change any settings etc nothing. Is there any way for me to get my character back? cheers

    Kk thanks alot guys, I have found my character. Like one of you's said I have to be in the right world. Thanks alot. =D

    Are you sure you logged on to the same server where you created your character?

    I had a similar problem. My computer crashed and I had to wipe and start from the ground up. When I re-downloaded LotRO, all of my prior account info was gone. Tech support was similarly baffled. The only thing I could think of was that somehow, when trying to log in to re-download the game, I somehow overwrote my account with nothing. I eventually had to start completely over. I hope you manage to restore your character, though! Good luck!

    It's impossible for you to overwrite your character data. Your character data resides on Turbine's servers, not your computer. Also, Turbine never deletes characters, no matter how long someone's been gone. The OP could be having one of several issues: 1) logged into the wrong server 2) was playing on a Codemasters account and didn't migrate account to Turbine 3) was hacked and the hacker deleted their character(s), which they often do.

    one other possibility Ayrolen missed is your logging on with the wrong account

    the simplest way to check which servers your characters are is to check the characters tab at the top of the forums or go to my preferences > my characters. assuming those are working for you, you should see which server your character lives on
