My.lotro and Characters linked to Community Nicknames
In this thread some forum posters voiced their concerns about how much character information was available to the public. According to Sapience it was WAI.
But he also said you'd be able to break the link between your Community Nickname and your characters. So if someone looked up your characters you had the option to make it show "Player: Anonymous" instead of let's say "Player: PropJoe".
Now to my issue. Since the EU migration, a lot (most?) of the old EU players haven't been able to access their "Character Settings". So if I wanted to break the link between my Community Nickname and my characters - I'm not able to.
In my opinion this is something that should have been fixed a long time ago. It's been almost six months now.

Re: My.lotro and Characters linked to Community Nicknames
From what I remember of my first diving into my character settings (when I stumbled upon it back whenever) is that all characters are marked anonymous by Default. So if someone has never touched mylotro, they have that minor bit of privacy built in for them automatically.
In fact as I peeked at your profile... I find that you have no characters listed to your profile (aka forum username).
I have some of my mains & alts (across different servers) chosen to show, and yet many other characterss that I kept unlinked. I didn't want to overwhelm folks with ALL of my randomly played lowbie characters, on my horridly too busy already, page. (they messed up a couple widgets, *sort friend's list for one* that make me no longer wish to maintain it.)

My characters don't show up at my profile, that's right. But if you go check some of my individual characters like:
First one shows up as "Player: Anonymous" and the other as "Player: PropJoe". Now the first character was created before Turbine took over the EU servers. The other one was created on an American server after Turbine took over. I have never been able to access the "Character Settings" for the second character. And still it doesn't show up as "Player: Anonymous".

Ahh, thank you for the examples and explanations of the differences.
I'm at a loss then. If you cannot get logged into those particular chars' character settings, I would suggest seeking help of one of the web admins. (The only one I can name is Duwis. Nice chap... for a dorf. I don't know if he's still maintaining mylotro stuff, as I only see him post on occasion. Hopefully he can stop by your post. Or toss a PM his way. He's helped me with a couple manual reset tweaks that were needed on some user pages. But don't expect anything too miraculous. He could be off hibernating for the cold winter weather for all I know.)
edit: The migration definitely was not smooth when it comes to these forums, and may for now be non-negotiabley unchangeable. Signatures breaking, and some downright useless to both NA and EU folks. Of course that is shrugged off due to the "beta" label floating overhead. Sorry I didn't fully understand the issue fully. Here's wishing you some good results.

hehe and thanks to the second link it would now be able to find most/all character belonging to your community Nickname^^
like said in the thread named in the first post: there will be a script for that, but mylotro should work correctly first of all.
