Update 5
Ok, so Update is coming soon.
It will introduce new item sets, barterable items and hundreds of new loot.
Any chance lorebook will be properly updated, or should we again rely on active players who will get their websites taken down for too much traffic?Farewell.

Re: Update 5
You can try to encourage those players to update the Lorebook itself.

Re: Update 5
Please explain how to exactly update lorebook as a player. I mean items, with images, info where they drop and so on.
edit: Just look at my character http://my.lotro.com/home/character/s...n/finrandiras/ 6! out of 8 jewelery slots does not work.Last edited by Fin.; Dec 04 2011 at 04:07 PM.

Re: Update 5
It is a known problem. Hopefully Duwis and the rest of the team will export the missing Update 4 content and the Update 5 stuff soon after Update 5 goes live.
I am not sure how many other threads are on this issue. Here is another one that is over a month old:

Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

Re: Update 5
Uhm, you start a page, call it "Stuff that is missing from the Lorebook" (or rather not) and simply populate it with screenshots if you don't want to write it out. It won't work with my.lotro but neither will those blogs or wherever you're getting that info from.
And assuming you're after the loot from dungeons (and the "new" skirmish raids) then info about which boss or mode do these things drop from never was in the Lorebook in the first place. (And as far as I am concerned they should leave it to players to find out)Re-ni-AN-nen - strayed (ppt. of renia- 'to stray')

Re: Update 5
I agree the info about where it drops etc is not necessary and I have no problem, with players figuring that out.
My point is, all we need is item info and screenshot of it in lorebook. Many guild sites and forums allow you to link database items with small pop up window. And Turbine decided to make lotro lorebook the official database source online. Now if they don't take care of it, all database associated tools, forums, programs are useless.
I have done, and contributed to item/loot lists outside of lorebook. I would love to(and I know other people as well) make it on official lorebook, but it simply is not possible. I have yet to find one person who will show me how to create new page for missing item, name it and associate with screenshot. And I have started to ask for this maybe 2 years ago. No clear positive answer.
I just think it is very poor by Turbine that they are yet AGAIN super slow with updating lorebook. It is not like suddenly unexpected lotro update happened and now they quickly have to import new items in the lorebook. I mean how hard it is to create such item page? Seems to me that for many lotro players it is 100x easier than for Turbine. Why they don't allow us to fiddle with lorebook on our own then?
And it is even more sad, when lotro players who want to help the community host the missing items on their own pages, can even result in their pages shutting down because of heavy traffic.Farewell.

Re: Update 5
The pop-ups and probably the advanced search won't work with player-made stuff (but as I said that's no different from visiting another site to get the info) other than that you have a free reign. They won't let us fiddle with it because the stuff is being pulled from the main database so there isn't much to fiddle with.
Don't get me wrong I wish we had more power but at the same time we have enough power to list all the new stuff. And the wiki engine has enough functionality for easy browsing.Re-ni-AN-nen - strayed (ppt. of renia- 'to stray')

Re: Update 5
Can you please create full lorebook entry for example for Moria Stone Necklace and explain how did you make it?(http://dkpfiles.com/namaste/pics/4Ss6oi1AEyy5n3LGP.jpg)
Or post a link to step-by-step guide how can I make it myself.Farewell.

Re: Update 5
- Upload the picture
- Go to http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Item:name_of_the_item and click "edit this page"
- Put something like this in it
Code:[[Image:Moria Stone Necklace.jpg]] [[Category:Bind on Acquire|Moria Stone Necklace]] [[Category:Necklace|Moria Stone Necklace]] [[Category:Jewellery|Moria Stone Necklace]]
- Preview and save
- ???
- Profit.
Since we cannot make it appear in the advanced search it would probably be worth to add some categories (RoI Skirmish Jewelry or something) and then make an overview of all the necklaces and such.Re-ni-AN-nen - strayed (ppt. of renia- 'to stray')

Re: Update 5
I did something a little different just playing around.
See http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Item:Lucky_Coin
I used the lorebook 'div' classes to make it look like a tooltip instead of using an image. Click 'Edit' and then 'Disable Rich Editor' to see the 'div' tags. Just an FYI....
I have another question though. Does anyone know how to get an item's ID if it's not on Lorebook? Seems there was a plugin that did this but I'm not sure.
Thanks,
Harl

Re: Update 5
You can take it one step farther and simply copy the look of the regular tooltips (bar the icon)

You can tell if you look on the items in you character overview, the links look like this - http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Special:LotroResource?id=##### ##. (And if you have the Data API key you may gather the id's better) Although I don't know if having the id without the entry in the Lorebook will be of any use.I have another question though. Re: Update 5
I could not get the Player Entry part of the lorebook to look just like the tooltip. How can I put 'pure HTML' in the Player Entry? Every time I tried to create a table w/
tags, it did some '{|....|}' conversion on it.
Anyway, if the item does not exist in lorebook, then it will just return an ERROR code when you try to retrieve it via data.lotro.com

Any ETA on Lorebook update to contain RoI and U5 items?

When my wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas, my response was that I'd like Lorebook updated through U5.
Her only response to that was 'the look'....
