Thread: Where do I collect spider silk ?

I am not sure where to collect spider silk. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am going to take a wild leap. Hope I am landing in the right place. You are looking for the Silken Strands spider silk to get your Compendium 2 in Mirkwood. The best place is the spider lair at the north end of Scuttledells. Tons of spiders all packed in there. Depending on your level - lots of spiders may be a bit much for you. Otherwise you have to run around Scuttledells looking for the scattered spiders.

And if you are looking for the tailor crafting item (to make Gossamer Thread), you can find that as a random drop from Black Ash branches. Despite the name, it does not drop from any spiders.

^^^THIS^^^ It is a critical result from harvesting Black Ash Nodes. Although it is supposed to have the same critical result drop-rate as other nodes I have found that this is one is a lot lower than others...@ 1% instead of @ 3%, although Y.M.M.V. as the RNG tends to have a personal grudge at times.

It also can be found in random Chests and Corpses in those areas where you can find Black Ash Nodes (Misty Mountains & Angmar, and even in Forochel where there are no Wood Nodes). It will come in quantities of 5 when the RNG decides to include it in Chests/Corpses.
