I had to format/reinstall all of my programs. I am having a ton of issues with downloading the LOTRo client. Apparently, my computer will not connect to the Pando Media Booster servers. However, when I go through and check all the connections, they all come out fine.
Anyone have a work around for this? It's giving me a headache.
Dunno if there's anywhere else you can download it from, but if you still have the cd you could install the game from that and let the client patch up.
I'm in the middle of changing to a new secondary computer, and have been having that very problem with Pando being unable to connect & download.
On the plus side, I have the high res client on my primary machine, and since this computer is lower end, I planned on installing the standard res client. As such, I went to the Fileplanet download location and started it about 20 minutes ago, and while waiting I came over to the forums to find this thread.... lol.
wow I had to do the exact same thing today, download the high-res client to reinstall.. Pando really is a pain, it would be nicer to have a proper download somewhere or a torrent file.
At first I was getting the same message that it couldn't connect. I went through everything in my firewall and antivirus to see what could be preventing the connection but got nowhere. In the end I found a thread that had the following suggestion:
First close Pando.. you may have to check the processes in your task manager and stop PMB.exe
Currently, Pando has let us know that they are performing emergency maintenance on their servers, so new downloads may not start appropriately. Existing downloads, however, will continue normally. Pando will have this all fixed up as soon as they can!

Celestrata, Fileplanet used to host both versions of the installer. Could you please see if this can be done again? Failing that, please put the high-rez one up, you don't have to install the High-rez textures, you can do a Standard install from the High-rez installer.
Just to update the thread, the maintenance is completed, and Pando is working again!

I am downloading lotro now with pando media booster (finally, after so many hours of trying) and it seems to work fine but however i am afraid when my system gets in stanby(because the instalation is more than 5 h)it wont be able to start from where it left before the stanby and it will have to restart, thats what it did earlier, it was installing fine then my system went in stanby and then it couldnt start from where it stopped and i had to start from scratch again (twice)

find the file called: PMB.exe.config and rename it PMB.exe.config.bkp
when I did this I relaunched the install file and it worked
Hello, i checked this and indeed i have the PMB.exe.config and not the PMB.exe.config.bkp, i can rename it as you say but i am actually now downloading lotro(seems fine so far) and i am thinking if i should restart so i can rename that file or i should just leave it now as it is,since its installing
Please answer

If it's downloading then don't touch anything, best leave your PC and go do something else for a bit. Certainly there's no need to make any changes. I suggested this step for those who were having problems getting the download to even start.

lol i wish i could. I did this with the two previous attempts of downloading and when i came back to see the progress my system was on standby and i couldnt resume the downloading process and start again from where it was but i had to restart (twice)
I dont know if it will do it this time tho, but i dont want to restart again so i gotta stuck here on my pc for about 6 h :O and its already past 9

You probably need to check your PCs power saving mode if it's going into standby on its own, perhaps disable sleep mode.. You can do this in Control Panel -> Power Options. That should prevent it entering standby if you have to leave it for a while.

I've spent nightmare weeks trying to get LotRO and DDO reinstalled on my computer thanks to Pando just plain not liking my network adaptor and inevitably BSOD'ing me some hours into every attempt. Had to DL the files to another computer and transfer them over, such a pain.
Looks like lots of companies use Pando for their games. Vindictus and League of Legends for example. I can't play LoL even after getting it installed because they have Pando built into their launcher.
I guess not many people have the problem I did, but Pando is such #### anyway, by default hijacking your bandwidth to seed without telling you about it. That's when it's actually working right.

I might be wrong but i think you can delete the entire pando program once you have download and installed lotro and lotro will still work fine (maybe even better)

Yeah. Lotro and the like don't need Pando to run (just LoL does).
The Turbine faq thread for pando even says to go into your task manager and kill pmb.exe after installation completes.
Trying to DL the Bullroarer client and the problem where Pando claims their server can't be accessed has come up, preventing downloading the client, all day.
I can connect to their server with their proxy check, and everything checks out, but downloading the client isn't working again.
Tried the config/config.bkp rename trick, but no difference in the problem. Is Pando having a problem again?
I first started my download yesterday morning, which on my internet connection was estimated at 18 hours. It reached 66% and then it ceased with only the "estimated time remaining" message appearing. Restarting the downloader would only restart the download for a few seconds before the same would happen again. I ended up uninstalling Pando and trying again. Problem with that is it loses track of where the files were downloaded (the 66%) and so it asks where to save the new download, rather than carrying on with the old one! I have to say I've been fed-up with the damn thing. I can't see why Turbine simply host the file via ftp or something so the rest of us with a slow connection can use download managers. I'm downloading the high-texture rather than the standard version which is double the size as you'll know, I don't want to download the standard version as I want the high-res experience. I do have the SoA and MoM discs but since they're European copies, they wouldn't work with the new Turbine only model, right? In addition, I've read about fragmentation of the files and how if I install some older data from the discs before updating, I could end up with a error ridden install?

Check, check, and recheck to make sure your firewall is off, or even better, allow Pando access, as I read somewhere that even if you turn your firewall off, it can still cause problems.
Then, go into your Control Panel, and Uninstall the Pando program from your computer. Restart your computer. Make sure that your firewall is still disabled/allowing Pando. Start the download.
Hopefully that helps. I finally got mine to work after going through all of those steps.
I can not connect to Pando either. In fact, their website pages(help, faq, anything) will not even come up. Did the company go under? If so, where can I obtain the High Rez installer?
