Query: Age limits & How many f2p accounts can I have?
Two quick questions for you fine folks:
1) What are the age limits for Lotro?
My kids are still somewhat young, but seem extremely interested in playing. Moreover, given how they're current struggling with elementary math and aspects of reading comprehension, I think playing lotro would be quite helpful for them. (There are other issues too, such as autism, that make lotro somewhat better suited for them than one might initially assume.)
With parental approval, from both mom (the sane one) and dad, what age limits exist for Lotro?
2) Are there any limits as to how many f2p accounts a single person may have?
I would like to have all the accounts in my name, 'cause that's the one on the credit card, with a unique email address for each account of course.
(Long story short: My younger child and wife are now expressing interest. I would prefer everyone to have their own account, and ideally their own computer. It may be a little more expensive, but in the long run...)
3) Am I, like, ahhh, making a really big mistake here??? I know it seems like a good idea... I also know the road to h**l is paved with good intentions. So, reality check time: Is this really such a good idea?

according to the old EU boxes of the age limit is 12+, US boxes rate it as T for teen. but tbh there are kids playing lotro a lot younger assumedly with "full adult supervision" and approval of course
the community here tends to be on the mature side so theres none of the swearing and other profanity you may experience in some other games but lotro has a decent profanity filter if your worried about that kind of thing.. the GM's stamp down hard on anybody using any form of profanity too

theres no limits to the amount of accounts you can have but the priviso being each account must be controlled by a person and you need to have a seperate email address for each account

Re: Query: Age limits & How many f2p accounts can I have?
1. They need to be 13+ to create the account. If they are under 13, then you may create the account and they can use it. This is the ONLY reason someone is ALLOWED to have access to an account they aren't they account-holder of.
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...28#post5322728 Spells this out (COPPA, +SDM)
Otherwise you're free to allow them to play, or not play at your discretion. Obviously, they need to be old enough to follow the Code of Conduct Rules.
2. As many as you like. Make sure each player has their own account.
3. ... Personally, depending on their age, it could be a great idea, as long as you're playing with them/monitoring the chat they get exposed to somewhat. Or it could be a disaster.
-all opinions are written by someone with Autism, who understands it has a wide range of people living with the condition.
Re: Query: Age limits & How many f2p accounts can I have?
Thanks guys. Much obliged. You've eased my mind, and I do appreciate it!
I wanted separate accounts for each child, just so no one would delete my main-account chars, or sell off my shared inventory, or delete my wardrobe slots, or mess with my house, or etc...
Besides, with a separate account, some day, when they are skilled enough, we might be able to play together. (Assuming the lotro-client can handle multiple computers behind a consumer-grade-NAT-router.)
In the meantime, given their age, they are being closely supervised. (E.g. They need constant help.) In a few weeks, either they will have given up, or they'll be well on their way to mastering the game. Time will tell. In the meantime, it's really cool to watch their reading skills develop before my eyes. And if things do go well, Christmas should be just about the right time to buy them lotro-store-points.

thats one good reason never to share your account even with your spouse or partner
they can trash your house, sell your fave gear or delete your toon but the shared inventory and wardrobe are safe

lotro usualy works fine from multiple pc's through the same router although on occasion some people experience issues with more than 1 pc running lotro connecting at the same time

Apologies. Should have been clearer. The slots themselves are safe. But the stuff in them could be sold, destroyed, or otherwise emptied out.
