Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
I just started exploring ROI and working on my forester/tailor. I got some hides while questing. They processed fine. Then I looked at my tailor recipes. I see that for the guild I need "finished leather" for large symbols. Ok. So I checked my forester recipes- I found the basic leather recipe and a second recipe (brushed?) that takes 2 basic pieces of leather and a lump of rich wax, but no recipe for "finished leather."
Have they introduced a dropped forester recipe?!? This is the first time I've found a missing gathering recipe.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
I haven't checked, however, found this on a WIKI site. Seems we need to have Friend Standing with the Men of Dunland to get the recipe.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
I was looking for that recipe this morning. It wasn't an automatic and the Expert Tailor didn't have it, so I was curious where to get it too.
I haven't checked, but I'm guessing I'll have to level my Champ/Jeweler up for the rep next so I can make some of the Jewelery.
I hate the new Edit Signature functionality

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
I find this utterly ridiculous. Why should the guild recipe depend upon my reputation with anyone outside the guild? Yet another straw on the camel's back for me.
ETA: Especially since, having checked my tailor, not only do the T7 guild armour recipes also require this type of leather (which I do think is reasonable, since it's the regional recipe), but the T7 Legendary Items do as well. Complete bunk.Last edited by Lomeloth; Sep 30 2011 at 04:55 PM.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
i find it ridiculous that armourers can only do a single item or two.
when T6 came out we got complete set for L51.
we should be getting a complete set for L66 with T7.
but no, pretty much EVERY SINGLE thing we might want to make is tied behind a rep gate.
heck we cannot even make frelling components without having to get rep.
ya know i could sorta understand putting the lorien stuff behind a gate for T6, but putting a whole dang tier behind a rep gate is pretty lame ifn you ask me.
so instead of making crafting relevant again you just made it a bigger grind.
you make all these nice lil changes to make it "better" and then drop a huge grind on top of it.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
I leveled and repped up my Tailor to kindred only to find out I cannot make anything useful because it is gated behind a rep recipe that you have to get at cap level?
Come on Turbine, really? This is the worst idea I've seen in a while.
BIG THUMBS DOWN!
So what exactly was the point of removing the over level quests for crafters if they are just going to turn around and make crafting useless at max level unless you are a max level toon?
And what about people who have armourer with Tailor's Guild? They cannot make anything because they don't have Forestry? BS Just another way to give price gougers control over other crafters abilities.Last edited by Aethniniel; Sep 30 2011 at 06:07 PM.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
It is no different than today. You need a forester that can make the leather for your tailor. The big difference is that there is a level gate on the gathering professions. Production crafters must have access to high level gathering crafters.
One production craft that is really pinched is tailor. In past all you needed was a high level character to be a killer. Any forester could process the hides for you.
Note: I am not really sure how farming and cooking works. I suspect there is a jam in this pair.
It looks like you have to buy Isengard if you want to craft at tier 7 with any degree of flexibility or depth. There are all these critical recipes between the reputation gate.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
Sorry, but you are wrong.
There is a HUGE difference. In live pre-ROI you can have a tailor at cap level collecting your hides and send them to a lower level forester to process them. You are able to craft any and all recipes including guild rep, and legendary hide requirements because the forester can process them without a rep/guild requirement to level. Now you can't - you are forced to either buy this item off the AH or level that forester character to cap level and get reputation in order for your original guild tailor to be able to do ANYTHING guild related, regardless of the tailor having ROI rep and guild capped out. That is ridiculous. Basically if your only character is an armorer and you capped 7 tiers of tailor + Tailor's Guild - you wasted a heck of a lot of time and resources because you are totally dependent on forestry which that profession doesn't have. (Prospector, Metalsmith, Tailor)
Luckily my Tinker is Jeweler's Guild, not Cook's Guild, because I suspect they pulled the same nonsense with them. They need to take more consideration into the work people have put into their craft's and guild reputation before making all of that work obsolete and gating it behind leveling a second character to cap level so they can be functional.
Doesn't matter if you buy Isengard or not, you can have it and still not be able to craft for the Guild if you choose the wrong, guild for your profession. Even with Supreme Westfold crafting capped and Supreme Westfold Guild capped. That is ridiculous.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
The finished leather recipes being behind a rep gate only piss people off because they want their lvl 8's to be making legendary lvl 75 gear. Help bring AH prices back down to reality and people might not feel like making a crafter in EVERY profession is the only way to realistically get anywhere.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
How do you suggest prices should be brought down? The crafted gear is very expensive to make. The materials cost a lot of silver or valuable game play time. Time = money. I could spend that time at the Turbine silver mint getting new silver coins instead of making a crafted item to sell to someone else.
IMHO - You got the materials to have a level 75 legendary item made. It is a trivial task finding someone to make the legendary item for you. They will do it at no cost to you. It is a customer want not a need. Unless you are totally anti social.

Re: Missing Finished Leather Recipe?
I think with the old crafting quest Turbine was very clear they did not want 'crafter' characters, though it was easily worked around. Turbine decided to 'fix' it.
Yes it sucks but I am really not surprised. Seriously considering changing all my characters to explorer.
