    Question Newbie needs help

I'm 12th level and I still can't craft anything. My character is an Elf, but following the message I got about hobbies, I had him go to Thorin's Gate, where he found the crafting hall. So now I'm trying to get him to tailor his first item. The master gave the character a crate with "everything" in it, but when I take him to the Workbench and open the crafting screen, the "make" button is grey-ed out even though I have the material it says I need. What is wrong?

I'm getting rather frustrated with this entire game. It said my character could go to Bree and get a horse. I ran him all the way there(no small feat) and then it said he didn't have the riding skill, I'd have to buy it, but at the LOTRO store, it says I can't buy it for him. This is really a frustrating expreince.

    1. Make sure you have the correct tool equipped. When you chose your profession, either Yoeman or Explorer I would assume since you want to Tailor, you were given an inferior tool for each of those crafts within the profession you chose.

If it is not equipped right click on the tool that looks like a spool to equip your tailoring tool

    2. For the riding skill you need 95 turbine points to buy it. Click on the store button, you can't miss it, its a glaring yellow, type 'riding skill' in the search criteria. It should show up there. Click on buy (if you have the 95 tp to get it).

    Hope this helps some.

    In addition to:
    Cirra Ceemstress, 72 Hobbit Hunter
    Cyrawyn, 75 Woman Captain
    Keharra Thistleknott, 38 Hobbit Warden
    Kyari, 43 Elf Runekeeper
    Kyradriel, 37 Elf Loremaster
    Kyrafern, 29 Woman Champion
    Kyre Thistleknott, 29 Hobbit Burglar
    Keralin, 28 Hobbit Guardian

Thank you Kyrra. I have a Forester with Tailoring Prospecting and Forester. I've tried to equip the spool, but it never goes into my character portraint.

I also paid for hundreds of Turbo Points, it still says I can't buy the riding skill. Why does it tell me to go buy the horse if it won't sell me the riding skill?? See why I'm so frustrated?

That does sound odd, try just left clicking the tailor tools (I am assuming you have ones that are good for a level 12, not the level 15 ones). Does it let you equip the other tools? Does it say Explorer at the top of the crafting panel? Is there a tab for tailor? I'm thinking you might have accidentally switched crafting professions.

Are you trying to buy the riding skill while logged into the character you want it for? If you don't have the skill, it should let you buy it as the only requirements are that you have finished the intro and are above level 5. Check your skills tab (press K) under passive skills for the riding trait in case you already bought it. Open the horse vendor and look at one of the horses, if the words "riding skill" are in red then you don't have it.

Not sure what's going on but you might closing and re-opening the game in case it's a glitch.

Thank you both. After much experimentation, I was able to tailer, prospect and forester. I still cannot buy a horse. I'll follow Missy's advise to see if it has riding listed as one of my traits. The character is 12th level. Thank you again.

    Question please!

How do I drop my professions and start over with a new set, please? I can't find it anywhere in the game.

Just go to the mistress/master of apprentices and pick a new profession. This will remove your old one and give you the new one.
