How is the population on this server??

    Hey ppl.

Just came back to the game after beeing away since late 2008 and at last found the server that has my old character on it.

Was just wondering how the population is on this server atm? My character is only lvl 28 but it would be nice to keep going on him instead of starting all over again.

    Regards

    Tsenng 28 elf hunter.

AFAIK Evernight is a mid populated server. Just bigger than Gilrain and the "new" ones. You should have no problem finding people to play with.

Non-existent or atleast horribly underpopulated. I really wish Turbine started a merger of eu servers

it's not underpopulated -.- yes, it's smaller compared to servers like snowbourne etc but that's what makes it better imo.

Lol, did you especially made an account and made this wonderful contributing post, you FIRST POST, telling this kind of BS :-)
Its funny how pathetic some people behave themselves on the internet.

The server is well populated a lot of new starting kinships for the levels 0-75 and a few good end-game kinships. About 400-550 people in the global LFF channel at the moments I log in during peaks in the evening.
    (/joinchannel globallff)
For endgame, and some 40+ groups, never had any trouble finding a fellowship, but then, I've a wonderful kinship ofcourse.

I do apologise for the nonconstructive post, heat of the moment i guess. I do admit that i don't have any facts or numbers to back my statement up, just the observations of myself and people I've talked to.

But at what times is there a peak in population? When i log in (usually 19-21 CET (UTC+1) ) Middle-earth is completely deserted.
You say 40+ is no problem to find people. But the time i spent i Evendim, Angmar, Forochel, Eregion i saw mabey 5 to 10 people, and that's me playing the entire week.

Maybe i just don't see them, maybe they all reside in the global channels. But 400-550 players who are looking to play with others at peak hours, how is that not few? There's nothing massive about this MMO (or server).

The reason i posted is because i just came back from a year of not playing, and suddenly Middle-earth is a lot emptier

Middle earth has grown a lot, the instant instance join, lots of skirmishes, and multiple paths to level up might give you the more deserted feeling. With the recent expansion, this effect is strengthened because most people will be enjoying the new content in Dunland (L65+)
The more crowded areas are seamlessly 'layered' so there will always be a lower maximum of players then you're used to see.

When you call something 'massive', thats totally your own opinion. I think 500 people are a lot, since you only need 2 of em to start a 3-man instance or only 1 to do some duo-questing :-)
Most people are not in this global channel though, the /lff and /region chat might help you out finding other people in your area. Also, when you bring up the social panel [o] key, you'll get a list of all none-anonymous people. Lots of people are anonymous though and wont show up.

Middle Earth is certainly not emptier on Evernight, although for some individuals or in some cases it could feel like it. (had the same experience when I recently did some quests in Forochel)

Look for a nice kinship, and goodluck on your travels!

It would be nice for them to have fewer instance/world layers on the server, so more people can interact with one another. I did play on there late last night so there wouldn't be as many players. I was tempted to switch to Eldar or Snowbourn but I joined the globallff channel and there were a few people on there. I got speaking to some and so I decided to stay. We should advertise the server more!

The question of this thread hit me the last week or so to!
    Is the server dying?
Are we facing a ddo merge in Lotro already?

No, just same old story: nothing to do but grind. When the U5 goes live people will be back, as usual.

    Have some doubts...
Seeing SWTOR incoming in a few days
    GW2 around the corner

What Lotro would need is more endgame areas
    Attractive pvp

Lotro is sweet till you ding max lvl, then it dies fast....

perhaps it feels like that because the range of areas have got bigger over time, the levels have spread people more, and more players are at the top levels - it might be quieter in some of the starter areas, but the dunland hubs are very busy indeed
