With this long awaited upgrade I don't suppose anything will be done about the inadequate servers that cause lag whenever we get more than 2 raids in the same place in the Ettens? I mean all this fancy Isengard stuff is OK but shouldn't Turbine be more concerned with upgrading the equipment thats the lifeblood of the game?
I don't know anything about the ettenmoors, but I have been in 24 person RAID without any lag on my end. Are you sure it's the server and not your system and/or connection?

I noticed this exact issue last night. And to point things out, you mentioned 24 person raid. The OP mentions "raids", plural. As in 24+ creeps and 24+ freeps meeting to fight, or 48+ players all up. The reasons I am confident it's server lag are:
a) My computer has no issues with displaying 50+ freeps who are mainly standing around, in 21st or similar
b) My computer can still pan around to see what's going smoothly in these laggy fights, as in the frame rate is normal both as reported by the in-game tool and judging with my eyes
c) The only lag noticed is a delay in using skills. This applies to all skills, including instant "interrupt" style skills, and the lag can exceed 2-3 seconds before skills fire
d) The in-game connection stats show no large spike in data
e) The skill lag is noticed by all players at the same time, regardless of internet connection, computer specs or physical location around the globe
If you do not even try to communicate using clear and concise English, I will ignore you.

If the servers wont support the new dragon raid then Id bet on some changes to hardware, but if that works well enough then I wouldnt hold my breathe waiting for an upgrade to fix the lag in the moors. This topic could be get really nasty real fast and I'm not bashing pvmp I'm just saying that it does not seem to be a vital focus at this time and who knows when it will be since they took it out of this update.
Yes, the server lag in the ettenmoors is atrocious. It should be fixed. I doubt it will be addressed in this calendar year, and I have some doubts about next year as well.

Maybe if the "new" PvMP brings enough cash with the new shopitems they will fix this earlier

Honestly at times it starts when 24 people meet in the moors. Everybody was complaining about the CM servers before migration, but they did a job way better than these here. Skill lag of several seconds, whenever more than 30 players meet is just not acceptable.

Did you ever notice the little server overload icon appear when playing pve? That means raid vs raid started in Ettens. And it does have skill delay impact on pve too.

E has been utterly shocking in US prime time. I know it is the server due to the nature of having 24+ people on team speak all saying the exact same thing. It'd be lovely to see a solution to this.

On Landroval, I have managed two RP/PVM events that encouraged mass combat in Ettenmoors, one in 2009 and one in 2010. Both events were victims of their own success. In each case, several raids formed per side, but as soon as they got into proximity the whole thing ground to a halt. There were some exceptions - things seem less likely to lag if you stay away from keeps and NPC. We had a Turbine developer witness the horrible TR lag at our 2009 event and she advised the software engineers had found a "pocket of something." We wove this into the storyline and you can see what happened here at 3:41:
We never heard back as to whether anything was done or fixed. The lag at our 2010 event almost cancelled it. I have since considered but discarded the idea of doing another event, despite urging from those who enjoyed them, since it is clear the servers usually cannot handle anything more than a single raid per side.
To be fair, in an effect and graphic intensive game without collision detection, getting a bunch of avatars in a knot without it turning into a slide show is going to be challenging. However, I understand that large scale PVP does occur in other games without the extent of the lag we seem to suffer in LOTRO.
I can only assume this is due to LOTRO not being designed for mass PVP, paired with the related likelihood that fixing the issue is therefore a low (or non-existent) priority. Trying to look on the bright side, maybe that is why Turbine is taking so long to introduce a new map - they want to have PVM run more smoothly first. But I am with those who think it likelier that money made off PVM in the cash shop will go to expanding the flavor options at the next Bree pie-eating contest...

I reckon it is because Lotro, in the beginning, was not designed to host large scale battles in PvP. Still, remember the first time people were fighting thorog, with all its effects and so on, people were severely lagging through the whole instance. Well they fixed it quite soon, but I guess when hosting 60 players ore more, add some npcs to the chaos and everybody pushing skills the hardware will be put to its limit. So I guess it is solely the hardware, i.e the servers that are not capable of hosting this kind of battle. I also believe that whenever bullroarer is up, lags seem to happen more frequently and with fewer player numbers.
Yet, we once did an experiment by putting six LMs dueling in Esteldin crafting hall, spamming their Ents at the same time...Well that actually threw people out of the game including on of the LMs...I bet if 24 people got together every server could be shredded to pieces...

New ents or old ents? Old ents was a massive lag monster, so with 6 going off at the same time, this actuallywouldnt surprise me that much.

One 24 man raid is not the same as multiple 24 man raids in the same place at the same time. Tonight, for example, two freep raids fought two creep raids with extra people on both sides. That's more than 100 players all in the one location.

I know aoe skills are pretty calculation-intensive, but didn't imagine it to be this bad. Just 6 LMs? By spamming Ents, do you mean repeatedly starting and stopping the induction?

Its been reported and ticketed but usually we get no answer. I play on laurelin mostly, remember a session a few weeks ago. We had 2 full raids of creeps v 2 full raids of freeps. We moved to the cows area (thats buffalo beach landroval) as lag was soooo bad near any keep. Oh how we laughed as we waited for the screens to unfreeze. I was being called targets by the raidleader and they were like 3 kills in front of the target i was focussing on. I was lucky, at least i could move.

Apparently they will update for PvMP in the new year. We know its not a vital focus for either the GMs or most players. However if you check out the rankings I think you might be surprised how many people actually PvMP. Basically if youre a freep over 65 its a logical move to the ettens. Which the new upgrade will kill for a while.

your first statement... i mean... cmon now lol
lag sucks in the moors. will be that way. their servers arent good enuff. nothing you can do about it.

It just got worse. L75 freeps are starting to filter through now. I noticed I was hamstrung at the sb, then couldnt move cos of the lag. Finally managed to trundle off then I was dead. Couldn't see any damage in my combat screen. As I revived I suddenly saw the streams of damage appearing, I was hit by about 5 freeps. Didn't even see them.
Yesterday we logged our Hispa full raid because was impossible to fight inside Lug.
No skills, no move, only lag.
Now that we have a nice population in Etten and fights could be great, lag makes fighting a hell.

Same thing happens when I am attacking TR. I just can't do it, sorry. (We're on same server)

Top notch pc drivers updated. Hardware top notch
Not only myself
A buddie of mine has used 3 different pc's since bata
Hes has this same exact issue every time.
12/24 man raids in ettenmoor and skirms
Watch others move around casting as he stands there.
He is about to stop playing all together.
We've played
Wow,swtor,uo none of those other games had issues none!
We have pinged each time the entire connection
Its server issue "lack of server power/space"
If a million people log into say"yoyo" server and that server
Is not capable of handling those numbers u crash the site.
Clearly lotro are to cheap to not upgrade but add more"servers"
For those large skirmishes/ettenmoors which I feel are the same servers
We will continue to lagggggggggggggg.
And lotro will continue to blame our connections/systems.
Period. LOTRO ADD MORE SERVERS IN LRG RAID AREAS.
For the last couple of weeks I have been getting consistent server lag even when the action is reasonably quiet. I know it is server lag as my ping is decent and I have no packet loss. Also there are other people experiencing it.
