Re: Rise of Isengard: Dev Diary Feedback: “How to Build Your Dragon”
The idea of doing two tiers by adding more people is interesting. We will see how it goes. Lately, all MMOs tend to make smaller raids so there will be always availabity of players. EQ1 first raids were easily of 100 people. Then, wow raids were of 40 ... and now they are of 10 and 25 - and most people do 10 players ones. Lotro´s 12 players raids fits perfectly with the servers population.
Re: Rise of Isengard: Dev Diary Feedback: “How to Build Your Dragon”
i dont care about the dragon raid, as i said befor you should have used the time u had to insert instances at the start of roi. and those to come end of the year 3 3man 1 6man and 1 12man instance arent enough for an expansion!

Dragon Hunting Expeditions!
* Slay a Real-Life Dragon!
* Earn Loot to Become "Head and Shoulders Above the Rest"
* Build Your Own Dragon!
Slaying a Real-Life Dragon
Few experiences in life can rival the act of facing a real-life dragon. You may have stabed the toes of giants and maybe even a balrog, but a dragon is an entirely different creature!
Head and Shoulders Above the Rest
Act now and the experience will not be the only reward! We will throw in a head or shoulder armour piece that will literally put you "head and shoulders above the rest."
Why only head and shoulder pieces you ask? Sadly, the bottom parts of adventurers' armour tends to be mangled when a dragon eats them. We are sure you will be fine though.*
Build Your Dragon!
Dragons are on the endangered species list, so we must use a modified "catch and release" policy. While we cannot catch a dragon, we can Build a Dragon! After slaying your dragon, please perform the following steps:
Step 1: Gather Ingredients
* 2 Arms
* 2 Legs
* 1 Tail
* 1 Head
* 1 Dragon-Sized Ego
* 0 Spleen, heart, and other internal organs (No room due to ego. Don't worry, dragons are magical creatures and will be fine without them.)
Step 2: Assemble
Please follow the diagrams provided. Every month some foolish group of adventures thinks it is funny to attach an arm to the head or a horn on the... well, nevermind where.
If we have to properly re-assemble your dragon when you leave, you will be charged.
Step 3: Run!
Run. Fast. Very fast. Like a Dragon was chasing you... which it will be.
Disclaimer:
* The dragon may bite you, breathe on you, smack you, bash you, stomp on you, whip you, oh and several other things that cannot be mentioned in a family-friendly advertisement. We will not be held responsible for any injury or death that may result.

BIG works for me, gets my adrenaline going.
The encounters in other MMOs where you have to attack different parts of the boss (or wait on lots of drama) range from annoying to pretty durn cool. Personally I'm hoping from 'pretty durn cool' from Draigoch.

Hold on the excitement folks lol.
Well the title was misleading. I honestly thought it would be some new LotRO store thing. They usually include the word "build' in their capaigns for it. XD
Re: Rise of Isengard: Dev Diary Feedback: “How to Build Your Dragon”
Sounds like a neat encounter (though it's another I'll likely never see).. but it does sound a little like something that doesn't really fit to me. I don't know if there's any actual story to the it beyond what's presented in the dev diary, but going to kill a dragon just so you can steal it's loot isn't exactly the kind of thing I would consider fitting.
Re: Rise of Isengard: Dev Diary Feedback: “How to Build Your Dragon”
The encounter itself is great and has already been discussed pretty extensively on the forums. Visually stunning, fun mechanics, and reminiscent of Bilbo's encounter with Smaug -- it looks to be a great addition to the game. Too bad the dev diary doesn't add anything we didn't already know. But it will definitely be a fun raid, and for those who can't get a full group of 24 together, it is possible to set the raid for tier 1 but go in with a smaller group.
Another plus that probably should have been brought out is that you can get up close and personal to the dragon without fighting any trash mobs. Which means for those people who don't particularly want to raid but would love to see what the raids are like, or what the interior spaces are like, you can get a group together and get a taste of the raid even without needing a skilled group. Basically, once you start it up, you have to run down a tunnel avoiding the dragon's gaze, which anyone can learn to do. At the end of the tunnel you'll get an excellent view of the dragon.
If you certain portion of people down there and stand on a area at the end of the tunnel, it will break through and you can get down to where you fight the dragon and take a better look at the interior space. He won't kill you until you start the battle by touching a chest, so you can explore the maze beneath to your heart's content.

Great info, thanks. I found a couple videos on YouTube and it does indeed look like a fantastic encounter. One had a really good shot of the dragon setting the hallways aflame!
Question: where is the entrance for Draigoch's lair?
Re: Rise of Isengard: Dev Diary Feedback: “How to Build Your Dragon”
So... going with 12 the raid is T2 and with 24 it's T1. What if you go with e.g. 15 people? Will it be T1 but just harder than going with 24 because of distributed damage?

you will not be able to do it (18 people it would be but they don't do 18 man raids)

Well, actually, i believe any number from 13 to 24 will be considered t1, and should be doable as the fight is the same no matter the number of people there.
15 people would be t1, presumibly harder than t1 with 24 ... or not .

You are correct.

Lag isn't too bad.
Personally, this is one of my favorite raids in the game (arguably the best). Draigoch reminds me a lot of Smaug encounter from the animated Hobbit movie, that is, before he flew out of the Lonely Mountain.
And yes, Draigoch could've eaten Thorog for breakfast, provided Thorog was still alive. I would like to think Draigoch has standards, and doesn't want to eat rotting meat.
