Atador here, dont wanna start any QQ or anything but I wanna tell all you hunts that I'm tired of hearing all this #### about how Dwarro has a bunch of huntards. And tbh there are very very few good hunters on this server. Now I know that some people dont take this game too seriously but I'd like to see some improvement in hunters. No more 4-5k morale hunts. Hunts need to have around 6-6.8k morale maybe 7k. Ranged O around 9k+ maybe 8.5k and max agi. Just know this is all biased on how I see a good hunt equipped. Please feel free to put in your idea's. Im gonna list some gear and where its found and hopefully people will put it to good use. I dont wanna see level 65 hunts with lvl 60 bows with the DPS not leveled and level 58 crafted armour, Cmon. I know RoI is coming out very soon but im gonna list there gear anyways and hope its a decent guideline for RoI. Here we go
Earring-Bregloch(preferably) or Sarenzers(easier to get) Instances-SG and NCF
Necklace- Balanhigil-Mirk Barter
Pocket- Forgotten Jewel Instance-Inn of the Forsaken, need 5 marks from the +skirm marks.
Wrists-Bracelets of brawling Instance- HoN marks+skirm marks.
Rings- Rings of brawling Instance-Same as above
Armour- Full Hele (RoI coming out might not be worth it, but a good set none the less)
Off Hand wep- Tordring(good morale/power, dont need agi atm due to cap but that is changing) Instance- SH
Cape- I like the Cloak of the Huntsman for power/morale, prolly will change with RoI though.
Off Hand Legendary- try and get a level 65 SA off hand. Good legacies to have are needful haste duration, critical mag in precision, and I like the AOE targets and Run speed is last if you have a 4 major but its debatable. Also I dont level the DPS on it cuz i rarely use melee.
Bow- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have atleast a 65 SA, preferably a FA..... Also level your DPS on the bow, seen many hunts who dont have it. Best Legacies Imo are Focus/Induction crit and Focus/Induction focus cost. As for minors I like bleed damage and maybe BH/or HS damage.
Relics for the off hand/bow are always preference, morale/power or Ranged O/ICPR. I like the ICPR/RO because I do a lot of raiding. I have 9.6k RO and over 1k ICPR and still have 6.9k morale and almost 3k power so its perfect for me. My relics are the same on both my bow and off hand. In the first slot I have a Gold Setting of Precision. Second I have True Gem of the Encircling Sea's for the RO and ICPR, Third I have True Rune of the Two Tree's for morale, power, and ICPR. LMy crafted relic is the RO/crit one. Thats my recommendation.
Lastly traits, For raids I like traiting 5 blues a 2 reds and be in precision stance. The 2 reds are the True shot and Swift and true. 5 blues are Resolute Aim, Enduring Precision, Deadly precision, Strong Dwar, and Deep precision, I trait this way for huge crits, and good power regen. For moors I trait 4 reds, 2 blues(resolute aim and strong draw) and 1 yellow (heightened senses). This is all my opinion, feel free to add yours
Awesome! I have a hunter I'm making and really had no idea where to go with it, although she's only at level 50. Chances are I won't be level 65 by the time ROI goes live, but oh well. Thanks for posting this because the one time i ran with you I had a hard time keeping aggro off you. So now I know what to do lol, besides stack agility.
1. Why would you spend so much time writing about gear when it will be obsolete in 12 days?
2. This post only talks about morale and stats. In my opinion, the definition of a hunt-tard is someone that doesn't know how to play a dps class. For example, they:
a. Have a poor sequence/rotation of skills and commonly rip aggro from the tank.
b. In a group setting have no idea how to be the target assist by using common sense to take down the multiple monsters in a sensible order.
c. Don't know how to follow directions, turn auto-attack off, etc.
d. Lack the agility to be the strongest dps in the group.
Those are the types of situations I've heard someone being called a hunt-tard. And these types of situations can be applied to lore masters, RKs, champs, and burgs as well (so the rest of you reading this, stop laughing at my hunter-buddies).
All the gear in the world can't give the player common sense.
Perhaps it would be more helpful to discuss how to approach various situations.
What is the best order of skills to prevent the hunter from stealing aggro?
What is the best order of skills when the tank is inexperienced or having trouble keeping aggro?
What is the best way to trait/best skills to use when you're in a group lacking a CC class (LM/burg)?
When your tank is holding 4+ monsters, what is the best order to take them down?
What is the best strategy for solo play?
I'm willing to bet that a lot of players just hit their skills randomly or because they are off cool-down. Knowing when to use things and why sets the gap between the casual players and the top gamers.
Huntards are born out of pure idiocy.. gear has little to do with it, your post borders on the condescending.. although i do see where you coming from, even if in 12 days (ish) its all moot point.
If you want to fix this servers problems.. start with the elitists and grumpy trolls that ruin it for most folks.. on a regular basis.. also kill the *in club* mentality that plauges the delf and cripples alot of folks chances at even seeing any of this gear.. if u don't believe me, go vacation on another server then come back, you'll clearly see what i mean when u get back from a server like.. oh (just for the point) Crick.. where just being at level & knowing your role is enough to pass the entry EXAM for a raid.. in fact delf is possibly the most elitist server ive ever seen and for a long time i was of the belief that that's LOTRO as a whole.. I was wrong.. and alot of what happens on delf is all about the pwnage and bling.. Fix that.. and then we'll talk about *Huntards*
I have a Warden on The Crick (he's named Toah, some lvl18 Champ who hasn't logged in since last December stole my name) and I've observed what you've seen first hand. I think due to it's smaller size, it might have managed to escape that for now. At least, that's how it felt for me on their GLFF.
Bow- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have atleast a 65 SA, preferably a FA.....
This is something that only someone from the biggest raiding kin on the server could say... Not knocking you guys at all because I am out in the moors taking down creeps with you all the time. I would LOVE to have gotten a First Age... 2 of my mates got one in the Lottery but those have been non-functioning for a while now.
Eosin, thats exactly why I would hope kin members would be able to help with small stuff like that. If a hunt has a question please mail me in game and ill talk to them all I like. Im not being condescending, just trying to help. And really a hunter is pretty dang straight forward, and the gear I talked about helps a lot with DPS and Survivability. You could be a beast hunter but with 5k morale get killed super quickly.

No one on the server really PUGs OD at all like I have seen on the other older servers so there are virtually no FAs coming into to the general population. So true, not easy for most to get. A SA though is easy to get and everyone should have one by now.
I did the same thing for the RK alts on our kin forum. I listed out where to get gear and what you needed as a minimum to do end game content. If anything, it is a bit late with RoI coming out, but his intent is good. I have the same conversations with 3.2k RKs in the Moors. (seriously, naked with virtues I have more morale at 65)
I think the two biggest issues I see is that people don't understand virtues and that sometimes, +morale etc trumps +stats. And while gear doesn't mean you are a #######, it is a red flag.
I totally agree with the intention and spirit of the post. However, I cannot /sign it until RoI is out and it is reedited from a 75 perspective, then I am behind it 100%. Except the FA should be changed to fully upgraded SA until we get a little more raid pug friendly.
@Eosin & Nairax.
It does not matter how horrid or amazing you are at your class, if your gear is bad your performance is bad. If your solo that's perfectly ok, but when the 4k hunter with terrible virtues, a 3rd age bow, and some crafted junk wants in a T2 Glacier he is officially a liability no matter how amazing his skills are.
Likewise, 8k morale is nothing but a liability when you have 6k RO and no crit (works both ways).
Then there are people like the 2.1k morale 65 RK I see every once in a while, not sure how they get it so low but something must be terribly..erm..wrong with their thinking.

This thread is running on two different definitions. Re-read my posts with my definitions and they might be clearer:
A hunter with poor gear and stats = under-geared/ignorant hunter.
Perhaps he's new to 65 or has a poor kin. Nobody has given him a chance to see what gear/LI/stats he should be working towards. He's to ignorant to understand that without top gear/LI/stats, he cannot run the high end instances.
A hunter that doesn't understand how to play his class/rotate skills = hunt-tard.
He may have the best gear in the game but has no idea how to run in a group.
I would love to see a thread for every class (post-Sept. 27) with the best gear, jewelry, LI's etc. and discuss the best way to various situations. Anything to help our server grow so we can all be happy.
Keep in mind that in a few months two other MMORPGs will be released and the server size it going to shrink massively. Our server should be working together instead of hiding in our respective kins.
Now, I would love to hear some tips from our uber-elite hunters on Dwarrow......

I have been playing this game across three servers since closed beta, so around 6 years. Everytime a new game launches, doom and gloom are predicted. Yet here we stand more active than ever. No new game released will have the content you have now. If you are lucky you will have 1/10th of it and be bored to tears in 1-2 months. Most people don't even last the first 30 days of a new MMO. Nor will most those games be free, or in the case of a couple (TOR/Diablo 3) really be an MMO in the traditional sense.
There is an alliance of kins on Dwarrowdelf that is trying to work together, props to them.

Planning on doing this for guards. Probably just a tanking/raid setup instead of OP, as I'll be more focused on finishing that set first for the new content.
Puff has flounced. He was like "man I hate that guy Eld..I'm out." No jk but seriously he's MIA :[[[[
Also..oh Ata. If you get me a FA I will take this post a little more seriously. It does seem quite strange that you recommend stuff that 98% of the hunters on this server can't even get.

Ok fine, most hunters on the server aren't gonna have access to a FA if you're not in a kin that runs OD, but that doesn't make the rest of the post worthless. And obviously most of the gear will become less useful in a couple weeks, but still it should get people thinking about what they actually need for their class.
I think the main thing that a lot of people don't pay enough attention to is your Virtues. While gear is clearly important, you can get a significant boost to your morale and stats, and doing so requires no raiding whatsoever. So with that I'll suggest the most useful virtues for a hunter both pre and post ROI
Pre-ROI if agility capped from gear: Valour (10), Justice (10), Loyalty (10), Innocence (10) (really good for survivability as its the best melee defense and good poison resist too), Empathy/Honesty/Fidelity (whichever fits your situation, Empathy is best all around survivability of the 3 because of the high armor value, but honesty gives you power as well and Fidelity is great for shadow defense..i.e. fighting in the moors)
Pre-ROI if non agility capped: Valour, Justice, Loyalty, Determination, Tolerance
Post-ROI: Valour (12), Justice (12), Zeal (12)(a morale boost equivalent to valour is being added to zeal), Determination (12)(since stats are going uncapped all hunts are probably gonna want the agility), and Lastly whatever you need for a given situation between Loyalty/Innocence/Honesty/Fidelity/Tolerance.
I know many people already have there virtues up to rank 12 in preparation for ROI, but if you're one of the newly 65 or just haven't done many deeds, this is probably the best way to improve you baseline characteristics and it doesn't require any end game difficult content, just some time commitment to exploration and killing stuff.
Also if people have specific questions on LI legacies, or particular trait set ups for different trait lines, you can send me a tell in game, but keep it specific, cause I'm probably not gonna want to list off everything a hunter might want.
Thanks....let's remember....less QQ, more pew pew!
Confidence and Wisdom are going to be very serious in RoI as well. Power is a major issue for hunters now (specially if your red) so the resist, power, and icpr on those will be very good for raiding.

I would like to say, for whats its worth, thank you for posting this!!
I don't run a low lvl hunter, anymore, but wish i had seen this when i did.
I really wish someone would start a similar thread for Burglars. I always find it a little difficult knowing which traits to equip and when. For example, what should a burg have when soloing, or in a raid, or moors?
So I thank you for helping the hunters that are out there, and i hope an experienced burglar starts one for us "newer" burglars.
Cheers,

"...People are starting to PvP against each other more on the forums than they do in-game..." ~Andrag ... so true buddy.
Just an FYI, there are specific forums for each class, if your looking for questions about your class, i would suggest reading these forums. They can be found on the main forum page, right after the servers. Lots of people willing to answer questions from all servers there. Dont have to just stick to dwarrow page to get information
Poor gear choices represent 1 or 2 things to me...
1.) Fresh 65
2.) A poor understanding of how to maximize your classes' abilities.
If you've been 65 for a while and you have poor gear I can only assume you don't understand the game mechanics. This is fine and dandy for a casual player but for someone who wants to be part of the most difficult end game content it is unacceptable. The devs didn't create OD T2 (especially challenges) to be taken down with any sort of ease. Your understanding of your class, your ability to work as a team, and your gear all have to be up to par. If not you will spend hours wiping until you step back and figure things out.
Keep in mind that the most important pieces of gear you have are your LIs. Everyone in the game has the tools available to craft "perfect" LIs from solo or small group content that is regularly pugged. When I inspect someone, the first things I look at are their LIs, because there is no legitimate excuse for having ###### ones. Armor/jewellery require more difficult group content, and are not readily available to everyone, but there's no reason not to have a 65SA with great legacies and extraordinary relics unless you just aren't willing to put in the time and effort (totally fine now with RoI around the corner).
Like Vid said, this is completely ok for someone who plays casually, but if you want end game content, you have to work for it. I promise it's a lot of fun putting that last SoE in there and finally finishing!
Borken - Dwarrowdelf
Alphbork - Firefoot
Pineapplejuice - E
i could throw in my suggestions on a good pvp gear/jewelry/virtue combo...but i wont...ya'll will see when i transfer my hunter over here <3
pve wise atador it was a really good suggestion for this server considering not too many successful end raid kins are going..
and to whoever it was bashing about this is only for hunters who like to steal aggro from tank and what not: I've never had problems grouping with atador i've kept aggro no problem.
also side note, for a hunter not knowing too much about proper gear jewelry is recommended and looked up upon to always seek advice but if your a 65 anything and you STILL don't know how to do skill rotations and you expect somebody to be your puppeteer then your gonna be fail no matter what...
summary:
thanks atador for caring.
/rude to the hun-TARD lovers

Reason: censoring #######
Like I said, I know a lot of this stuff is obsolete..... But it's more of a basis of gear that your gonna need..... Also just the idea's of introducing things like ICPR that a lot of people take for granted. And not everyone has RoI, so it'll also give those people something to work on with kin..... And there are more and more kins completing OD so FA's arent as rare as they used to be and DPS should be the people getting them. So sorry if I offended everybody it wasnt my intention, I mainly wanted to provide a forum where hunts can talk about strategies. And yes Eosin, all those situations are things the kin should help with. Its a lot to have to do with the tank. And knowing when to pop beneath care or switch to endurance(which i almost never do). The tank should be calling out when to start DPS when he has the mob you are fighting. Please mail me in game with questions i love answering em.
Please mail me in game with questions i love answering em.
I will be glad to answer questions as well. If you want to do it on the forums the actual forum for each class is the best place.
However, I will not answer things like "what is aggro?" (I had a 65 hunter ask me that) or how much health/power a non 65 should have because I simply don't know.

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." ~ Jim Elliot
but we can all stuff it and remember no ones bending our arms backwards to do something, someone tells me they dont want to go on teh chicken run in alliance, good for you, now go do something else theres 2000 individual players in allianec use ur imaginiation, somewhere someones gonna wanna do it with you.
But on topic, I think we can agree that some hunters are hunters because it is in definition the easiest class to button mash.
With teh release of ROI hunters get more work, that makees it easier for anyone to play it not that it isnt that easy already.
but easy to play doesent mean easy to master.
There are several hunters on this server that kick ###, and even the ones taht dont still kick ###. its what hunters do.
There will always be the so called "#######" but i agree with th op in saying taht wecan change taht by providing help. Dwarrow probably has teh least active forum users of any server. so lets see teh hunter channel get big again.
we all started someowhere, some of us were quick and learned on the go, some of us dont have that capability, and need time and investment.
Unless were willing to provide a better enviornment we will lose everything. Its up to us players who consider ourselves original server players, to remind everyone in our kins and our groups taht we can all work together for something.
but eh. Im sure thats enough of my lets all work together ####.
Why would a hunter need morale that high if they aren't taking damage?
Cause guess what!!! You ARE going to get hit (a lot) and you are going to take 3ks, 4ks, and even higher per hit. When you tank OD trees for example your taking 1k -2k hits on a standard mob attack speed basis (That was with my 30% common mit & 6% (I think) ranged mit), so if your running around with 4-5k your a liability.

Exactly, in most raids you do to take butt load of damage..... and if you have high morale it can open options to be a tank for 3 mans and such. There's really no reason why peoples morale should be 5k. With the proper relics and even basic 65 gear it should be higher.
im f2p lvl 53 and my moral varies from 3173 to 4000 depending on what i choose to use
no quest packs, no special turbine point buys at walmart, simply crafted armour and lottery armour xD
im wondering is that about right?
When your just lvling it's not about performance, it's about being able to solo all the solo quests on your way to 65 (or 75) in an efficient manner, so if 3.1k - 4k keeps you alive then yea it's good. If your 65 and you still have 4k morale then you have issues.

Wow, one of you guys gave me negative forum rep because I said that not all kins can get a First Age 65 easily... meaning not all kins run OD regularly...
