Leadership Summit: September 30
On September 30th at 9:30 P.M. Eastern U.S. Time we will be hosting a Leadership Summit for kin leaders, officers and anyone interested in starting or managing a kin. The goal in having a Leadership Summit is to allow kinsmen a place and environment in which we can discuss ways to manage and lead our kins successfully, share issues with other experienced leaders and officers who face the same problems, and allow us to grow together as a community on our beloved Landroval server.
We do have a few guidelines imposed so that the event will be organized and without chaos. We ask that all attendees will remain seated during the summit unless you are called upon to speak. When the floor is open for discussion, the person who wishes to speak should stand silently and wait to be called upon to speak. As we said earlier, anyone who is interested in such an event is welcome to attend. However, we ask that kins wishing to take part in the discussion nominate one (or two at most) speakers to represent your kin in discussion and debate.
This first event is meant is mostly to get things started up, allow leaders and officers to meet one another and to basically discuss what we all are exactly looking for out of this and explore topics for future meetings. Kins that sign up and pledge to attend monthly meetings will be enrolled in a program to have a future Leadership Summit hosted in their kin house.
This month’s kin house, The Cottage of Lost Play, is located at 2 Waterbank Road, Torn-en-Aduial, Falathorn.
If you have any questions you can leave a post here or contact Morzanx or Fionnuala in-game. Good luck and safe travels!

I think this is a grand idea. And I respect the "council" format to hold our forum in. I wonder if there might be a "commentary" channel set up as well. Many of us are used to holding multiple conversations at once in an MMO. A secondary commentary channel would allow others to comment on the speaker's thoughts without interruptions in /say. Thus allowing both a polite stage for fully formed thoughts, and a chaotic back channel for real time discussion.

I just re-read the original post and I see you had planned on having discussion as well as council pronouncements. The commentary channel is less important in such a setting.
Andeon here (no time to chase down a sig) - I admit to a bit of confusion on a different note, and wanted to clarify...
You asked for ideally one, no more than two, nominated speakers for any particular kin/interest - that sounds wise considering the possible numbers of attendees...
but you also mentioned the event as an opportunity to "...allow kinsmen a place and environment in which we can discuss ways to manage and lead our kins successfully, share issues with other experienced leaders and officers who face the same problems..."
this *implies* that various officers and even prominent members might attend, and participate, which clashes somewhat with the 1, no more than 2, representatives guideline
my point being, as an officer of the LMB, i'd like to attend and hear whats said, and contribute if the opportunity presents itself, but I certainly wouldn't want to clash with the established nominated speakers - how exactly did you intend for officers and interested members of various kins to participate?
I would like to discuss alliances. I want to see if there is an interest in adding to any alliance that may already exist, such as the one Leaves of Laurelin has with Mar Vanwa Tyalieva for roleplay and questing.

Re: Leadership Summit: September 30
Andeon, sorry for the confusion. Our intent is that any leaders, officers, people interested in Kinship management can attend. We are not limiting numbers of attendance. However, we want to keep the discussion from becoming chaotic and long winded. So we ask that if particular kinships have several members attending, the kinship should designate one or two players to take part in the discussion to represent the kinship. We want to hear from all kinships attending, but we don't want the discussions to become over long and confusing.
Our intent is also that certain topics for discussion will be selected for each gathering and they will be announced ahead of time in a thread such as this one. That way attendees and kinships can think about what they would like to add to the discussion ahead of time.
However, this first meeting will be more informal to begin with. We'll be putting more stress on learning what Landroval kinship leaders would like to get out of a regular leadership meeting, what types of topics and issues people would like to have addressed and just getting to know each other better to promote inter-kinship activity.

This is actually one of many benefits to having as Leadership Summit. As kin leaders, we strive to make ours kins more successful and in the process stumble upon adversity. We'll be able to meet with other leaders, discuss differing management methods and their pro's and con's as well as network with other kins to address and ultimately solve the issues that plague us. A Leaership Summit will also give us a chance to look for ways to improve the Landroval community as a whole. We play MMO's to have fun and enjoy the experience and I am excited to see what we can come up with, kin barriers aside that will improve on that experience.
thanks for the clarification Fionnuala - I was *guessing* that was what you meant, but I like to get as much detail as I can - fortunately, I'm taking that week off (I need a vacation) so I'll be available, and looking forward to attending. Thank you for your efforts!
Is this ongoing? After stumbling upon this thread, I think it a most worthy endeavor. If ever it comes into fruition again, I'd consider myself lucky to attend. I am sure - and I am no exception - that many folks who lead, or have lead a Kinship / Guild before were bursting with questions and looking for ideas.
Truly, the idea in itself, one where leaders and officers freely offer advice is humbling. *Salute*

My apologies, I was away from game for a while this fall dealing with personal issues. I'll see about breathing life into this idea again sometime soon.
