Shadow Company is recruiting!
A veteran multi-game guild with continuity in leadership for over seven years, we are comprised of RP-light, fun-oriented, no-drama adults. The Company prides itself on Honor, Loyalty, and Excellence in all areas the game has to offer - from raiding to RP, adventure to social interaction; and above all else giving its members a place to call home regardless of world we play in.
WHAT SHADOW COMPANY IS:
- ESTABLISHED: We are a Rank-10 kinship that was formed April 14, 2007. Our leadership and officers are long-service members of the LotRO community. From Shadows of Angmar to Moria and Mirkwood, and now to Isengard - our members have seen and done the best of what this game offers, and look forward to an even better future!
- ACTIVE: We maintain an active kinship from the top down starting with the division Captain and Officers and administration. You will find Special Events, RP Sessions, hunts, and instance runs to be planned and executed often. Shadow Company also recognizes the fact that the life blood of a Kinship is the new player, that said we are constantly on the lookout for new members with a like-minded demeanor to join our ranks!
- ORGANIZED: Organization and stability are two of our greatest strengths as a Kinship. With a strong real life military background amongst the leadership of Shadow Company, maintaining guild structure and direction have always been a core focus. You will find the Company to have an extensive background of protocol and tradition in place that eliminates any confusion with regard to guild style, culture, and regulations.
- BALANCED: Shadow Company sees each aspect of the game as a part to the whole, as such you will find that we enjoy all the components of the MMO equally, from Crafting to Questing, from Raiding to Role-play, we enjoy and do it all to the fullest extent that we can!
- MATURE: Shadow Company has always catered to more mature players and while age does not always equal maturity we adhere to an "eighteen or older" rule with the average age of our members in the 30-40 range. We are also family-friendly, and make every effort to keep our in-game interactions "safe" for accidental onlookers (like the kids!).
- COMMITTED: Shadow Company is not a "pick-up" guild! We have an extensive application, interview, and probation process to help weed out those that lack patience, maturity, and motivation. We ask our members be as loyal to the Company as we are to them.
- DIVERSE: Shadow Company caters to a wide range of players from all over the world. Some of the people you will find in SC include: Doctors, Married Couples, Law Enforcement, Published Authors, Chefs, Poets, Martial Artists, Students, IT professionals, Teachers and many more!
WHAT SHADOW COMPANY ISN’T:
- DRAMA: We place a lot of emphasis on finding members that are a near perfect fit for our style and culture to ensure a match between our current membership and new applicants. Drama is NOT tolerated within Shadow Company; if started it is expected to be resolved privately between the involved parties, and if it cannot be resolved the Captain will be forced to wield (with great prejudice) his Drama Stick i.e. Kinship removal.
- NARROW-FOCUSED: We do not cater to those seeking a single focus on one sole area of the MMO. Our emphasis is on the person behind the keyboard more than anything else and folks who enjoy many aspects of the game. We seek out like-minded, fun-oriented adults who enjoy all that the game and our companionship has to offer.
- SELFISH: Shadow Company prides itself on the level of commitment to its members. Therefore, we encourage players who not only like to have fun but ALSO enjoy enabling the fun of others to apply.
- BORING: There is always something going on in Shadow Company! We strive to bring our members content of all kinds from daily hunts and adventure to larger scale endeavors! We also highly encourage ALL our members to get involved and will give them the tools to do so.
WHERE WE ARE NOW AND KINSHIP DIRECTION:
- Shadow Company, now a seven-year-old kinship that has inhabited many worlds of the past and future seeks more adventure motivated members to put a stop to the most powerful minions of Sauron currently invading Middle-earth.
- While Shadow Company is not a raiding kinship in the strictest sense, we do carry a strong history of tackling whatever content is thrown at us! Group landscape quests, intances, raids, and large-group skirmishes are all popular events.
- Our primary focus is of course on fellowship and fun in a no-pressure environment but we also pride ourselves on reaching all the goals and content thrown our way to include Raids and end game endeavors. We reach this goal by teamwork and selflessness above all else.

Shadow Company reports that at our monthly Roll Call (held 23 September), several organizational changes were made in order to prepare for our upcoming march into Dunland!
A new sergeant (Jezria) was promoted from the ranks, and her predecessor, Sgt. Goromuir, moved into the previously-vacant position of Company First Sergeant! Our enlisted ranks are now fully organized and prepared for action.
There was also a slight change in overall leadership - Captain Ioffryd resigned from overall command of the Company in order to focus on leading the Dunland-Rohan operation. Promoted to replace him as administrative head of the Troop is new Captain Celegamrun.
Many awards and honours were given out in recognition of our members' service and dedication, as well as participation in events both in Middle-earth and on our forums.
Roll Call showcases Shadow Company's commitment to core organizational principles, including our carefully-designed system of rank advancement, and frequent formal recognition of individual members' contributions to the group. We believe that these principles are the heart of our success and longevity.

Last night was one of our frequent Roll Call social/organizational events, where we gather and form up to share news and information.
Foremost among the auspicious events was the promotion of Lieutenant Kirti to the post of Staff Officer for Social Affairs. If you've had the pleasure of attending any of our recent social events (such as our "Chickenings" at Sandson's Farm, or our Yule Concert World Tour), then you've probably met Kirti in the form of our Company Band Leader, Amarantos.
