I'm looking for a friendly Kinship that's fun to be a part of. By fun, I mostly mean people who actually -talk- in guild chat and/or Vent. Last Kin I was in, the people were nice enough, I think, but the chat box was almost nothing but X came online, Y went offline. They had a Vent server, but nobody ever seemed to be in it, at least not for this game.
I'm really not interested in another one of those huge multi-game guilds that is resting on it's laurels for LOTRO, 10,000 member roster and 14 still active in the game. I've been in four of those types, in four different games, and they never seem to work as advertized.
I don't care about guild rank.
BTW: I do not do applications. Been there too many times for guilds/Kinships that didn't work out. If you want to know me before initiating a probationary period, let me know who to contact (Or send me a PM and we can work out a time to meet) and you can ask me pretty much whatever you want in-game.
I'm new to LOTRO, started playing beginning of August. My highest toon is a level 38 Hunter. I liked the game enough to get the top level RoI pre-order and sign up for 3 months of VIP access. I'm not new to MMOs, been playing them since Shadow of Yserbius (mid 1990s), Meridian 59, and EQ (original). The last few that I played before this were DDO, Warhamer, and Age of Conan.
My play time is mostly between 3pm and 7pm Eastern, but if I have a reason I'll logon again in the evening. That's every day barring work deadlines or other obligations.
I can group or I can solo, I just can't stand playing in a dead silent void.

I found pretty much what you are looking for in Strayhold. I've been a member since Spring 2008. The kin is pretty active, and most of the core members have been around since launch or shortly thereafter. Most of all, I've always been impressed with the community we have in the kin. We have very active forums and you'll find that kinchat is usually buzzing with conversation. Granted, most of the conversation is making fun of Blackhawk, our Flealess...I mean Fearless Leader.
We have all sorts of players, from very casual to very dedicated players with multiple level 65s. We run instances very often, and most of our members like grouping. We're not a hardcore "raiding" guild but we do run raids and higher end instances, just not with a fixed and regular schedule.
As far as an "application", you can find the info on our forums: http://kinship.strayhold.com. We don't have applications with review and all that jazz...but we do ask people to register at the kin site and introduce themselves. Then we'll catch up with you in-game.
In any event, welcome to LOTRO, and good luck finding a kin that works for you.
Don't Tempt Me Frodo sounds like a good Kin for you!
We're a fun, talkative, helpful group. Always someone from the Kin playing. Most Friday and Saturday nights are the best nights for playing/chatting/asking for help on quests or if you need materials made (we all make each other stuff on a regular basis; most of the time all the maker asks in return is supplies to craft the item if needed or a bit of money to go toward supplies if they have to get them off the AH). We play concerts every now and again all over middle earth. The latest concert was last weekend as part of the Silverlode Server party. We are all helpful and always willing to lend a help if you need help completeing quests. But most of all...we DO talk! Sometimes it can get...rowdy in the chat...but it's ALWAYS fun.
If you are interested in joining, send a message to Chastine, Junes, or Falillith. We're more than happy to welcome and accept new members to Don't Tempt Me Frodo!
