Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
Some of the Rohirrim. Including GRIMBOLD THE GRIMSLADE!

And then there's Saruman.

But we'll have some shiny new clothes to go face him in. Below are some cosmetics from the Dunland quest rewards.

Or perhaps a shiny robe? The three glowy colors were added to the Skirmish cosmetic vendors.

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
So we definitely fight Saruman?

As for that robe - is that some light effect or does the robe actually look like that?"'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Rune-Keeper! A Rune-Keeper is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Tolkien's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face."

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
The Rohirrim look amazing. As for Saruman, is it just me, or does he still look a little more low-rez than the rest of the NPC:s?

As if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns. In dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the North wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
Um, why is Grimbold called THE Grimslade? He comes from a village called Grimslade, surely he should be called Grimbold OF Grimslade?
A slade is a dell or a valley, so either way it would be weird for a man to be called a grim valley?
I smell typo?
Other than that, I must say that the Rohirrim looks really cool

+/- Depths of Isengard... not sure yet if it doesn't look a little too Morialike to me... I had hoped for something more unique

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
The Depths themselves are reminiscent of Moria, though more of a fiery space than Moria's blue.
Incidentally, my champ was quite happy down there, for her own reasons. >>

There's another sprawling subterranean space in the Heathfells called the Pit of Iron, however, that's quite similar to Moria.

These screenshots are great guys, keep em coming! I'm being put at ease about the "3 region" thing, just underneath Orthanc looks to be pretty big. Almost the size of a "zone" by itself! Looks like there's going to be a LOT more to explore and quest in than Mirkwood was.
More Orthanc SS!

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
Between the outfits you get w/ the RoI pre-order and the outfits shown in this thread, I think I really like where Turbine is going with them. Too many of the earlier hauberks have really bright, saturated colors and/or just look clownish. It doesn't feel very "Middle-earth-ish". The newer ones for RoI are much more in tune w/ LotR if you ask me.
Loving the chain hauberk look for my dwarf hunter!

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
I would love to see the "real" zone maps of Dunland, Gap of Rohan and Isengard.
Could anyone post them? As so far what was leaked was only Dunland and Isengard and were not the finished/final maps.
Thanks!

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
Each area has around 30-40 quests, and a deed for completing the majority of them.

Trum Dreng: A river valley south of the Mournshaws. The Stag-clan of Lhan Tarren are a dwindling lot, living out their existence at the edge of Dunland. Their aged chieftein struggles to keep the old traditions alive and to teach his grandson the value of patience. Lessons that don't come easily as the war threatens to invade.

The Bonevales: A series of barrow-laden crags, just south of the Lich Bluffs. The residents of these broken lands have found themselves under attack by traitors and wights. A long-cursed clan seems to be raising the dead for war, much to the dismay of the chieftain's daughter.

Pren Gwydh: The central valley of Dunland, and home to the main hub - a sprawling Dunlending city called Galtrev. Populated by a mish-mash of clans, Galtrev made an alliance with Saruman some time ago, and its residents have found themselves slaving under their half-orc taskmasters ever since.

The Starkmoor: A wide-open moor south of Pren Gwydh, home to much of Dunland's farmlands. A merchant struggles to pay off his debts, pinning his hopes on an auction in the village of Avardin. But the corrupt auctioneer has his own ideas, and his own loyalties.

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour

Tal Methedras: A snow area at the foot of the Misty Mountains, home to the proud Falcon Clan. Primarily an Epic-related area, it's actually accessed through a loading-screen gate, with a stable nearby. Only a few feet of land is lost by the gate, however. Here, the Falcon-clan warily watches Dunland, fearing Saruman's influence. But with the help of the Grey Company, they soon begin to make ready for war.

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
Nice write-up, Jadzi.
When it comes to the actual zone maps, I think only Dunland's is finished;

The Gap of Rohan (interestingly, it looks like there's some space set aside on the eastern banks of the river Isen, room for future expansion à la Tal Bruinen?), and Nan Curunir, currently looks like this;

There's also the map of the dungeons beneath Isengard;
Lastly, you're supposed to be able to zoom in on Isengard, and there's supposed to be an underground cave-system in the Gap of Rohan too, but I have yet to see any maps of those.Last edited by Macfeast; Aug 26 2011 at 05:21 PM.

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour

The Dunbog: A large bog area in the south of Dunland. The Avanc-luth here live in the middle of the bog, forced out of their homes after refusing Saruman's advances. They are now beset by wildlife, by Saruman's forces, and by the grisly abominations infesting their former home.

Carreglyn: A rocky, craggy area toward the heart of Dunland, home to its mineral wealth. The people of Bornavon live in a city divided. Those of the upper city now answer to Saruman, and lord over those of the lower ward, treating them as slaves and forcing them to mine. The miners themselves are in peril - not only from the work, but also from the Bugan that have come out to play.

The Gravenwood: The dense, haunted forest at the east of Dunland. Here Theodred and the scouts of Rohan try to press upward into Dunland, while the Grey Company continues its hunt for the Old Woman of the Mountain, Gwyllion.

Re: Rise of Isengard: The Visual Tour
Meanwhile, in the Gap of Rohan...

The Isendale: The western half of the Gap. Here the Rohirrim camp of Forthbrond serves as the front line against the Dunlending city of Wulf's Cleft. The Rohirrim find themselves surrounded by Dunlendings, and unusually well-armed ones at that. Could it be that Saruman's orcs are equipping the men of Dunland?

The Heathfells: The eastern half of the Gap. Grimbold the Grimslade holds his camp on the banks of the Isen, guarding the hill of Dol Baran and the pass into Rohan. Dunlendings threaten to overrun the Gap, and wargs and war-hounds prey upon the horses. But the greatest threat of all lies beneath - the Pit of Iron, where Saruman's orcs mine ore for the Dunlending legions.
