    Thoughts for Players in Britain

For those not aware about the ongoing riots in Britain - four nights now - the violence has escalated beyond looting to bombing at police stations and even leveling buildings. Unfortunately this is being encouraged/organized through the social media. A disappointing and saddening use of the Internet indeed.

I would like to take this moment to let our members on E and across other servers, that play in Britain and in the midst of this chaos, that I keep you in my thoughts. I hope that there comes an end to the violence soon, with a peaceful resolution even, and in the meantime everyone stays safe.

Re: Thoughts for Players in Britain

I Live in Oldham, which is 10 miles outside of Manchester City Centre. But due to topographical location I can see right into the heart of the city.

Most of the reports you are getting on the news about the riots here are false.
There have been NO bombings of police stations, NO buildings raised, the only violence we are seeing is windows being broken, cars being stolen and set alite.
Only ONE shop has had fire damage (Selfridges)

The majority of the Looters (they are not actually rioting, just smash and grab) are youngsters or Jobless with nothing better to do
Nobody actually knows why the Manchester mess started.
From what we are piecing together it appears they just wanted to get in on the action

But we in Manchester have been thru this before. Tomorrow begins the clean up.
Already we have websites up with CCTV stills of those involved
And it wont just be the culprits who pay for this, we are also targetting their parents.
Some of the culprits are as young as 9 yrs old

The Police Force in Manchester have done a great job, and continue doing so. Despite having several of their force shipped to London to deal with their problems

So dont take everything you hear as gospel.
Its not just the Social Networking that can take the blame..... The networks can also take some for blowing it all out of proportion

Re: Thoughts for Players in Britain

My concern was raised because while I don't know of many players residing in the UK I frequent a chatsite with friends in the area. They were talking about it and were worried about the happenings. I cannot help but in turn worry for them.
