hey guys, i'm using this client for quite a while now and everything works fine, now i want to buy the mithril edition. Is it possible to install the mithril edition into this port or not?
Hey people! where do you find the msvcp80.dll file??
hi so i download the game client from file planet and then its fully downloaded and i open it and then it says disc not recognized something.... please help guys I'm trying for hours thanks !

Hey guys I started downloading the client a few hours ago and there is 1 day left. I don't have Wine installed or anything like that. How do you manually patch/update it? It seems like this version is about a year old.....
and I don't understand what "msvcp80.dll file" is. All of the links for the updated client have not worked and I tried searching for the updated client but the one that shows up is the one that was updated last October.
the next day...
Ok I started to reload it for the 2nd time and it stopped after about 12 hours saying that it can't be opened and it's not recognized. It only got like 2.5 GB.
HELP PLEASE

ok so i was wondering if you play with the other characters with this client. like the people that use the normal version or do you just play with mac people.
i was following this thread for a few days now and I'm getting a macbook pro tomorrow and i want to know what the easiest way to get lotro on a mac is without paying for anything.
edit: I've seen a few links to clients and I want to know what one works best and has the latest update, and what you need for it (any extras).

Now that the beta Non-disclosure agreement is lifted, it can be said:
Riders of Rohan will bring a native Mac client that is currently in Beta as well. No more micro-hacking and band-aids to get LotrO working. Rejoice, all you Mac-hipsters :P

Do any of you know if the native mac client will support older iMac - mine is about 3 years old (snow leopard, intel core 2 duo, 2gb ram). Quite excited for this

This is pure conjecture on my part, but I would guess it would support any Intel Macs unless it relies on technology that was added with a particular version of OS X. Perhaps someone can clarify what Apple operating systems it is known to work on. I'm running Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8), so I'm good either way.
Since we're not supposed to copy/paste from beta forums (and I assume the information posted there may not be final), I'd rather have a blue name give the full details regarding prerequisites. Anyway, according to what's posted presently, supported versions are 10.7 (OSX Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion).
I hope they do support OSX soon. I've been running LOTRO from a bootcamp Win7 partition on a MBP Retina and it makes the machine run hotter than normal. Even hotter than when I play CounterStrike in OSX. I don't know if there are tweaks for this but I've turned down a ton of the graphics settings and it has done nothing for me.
Does the new client perform better than running the Windows client in bootcamp?

The Fileplanet link doesn't work anymore, I had to download a torrent version of it from Pirate-Bay, It takes a while and It seems to need to patch multiple times because it fails to download stuff randomly instead of how it used to be. But we are all in luck because in about a month we should have an official client!!
I patched and put in the other dll file, but when it get's to the splash screen, it just says ***Finished*** in the output box and does nothing! Please help.
So I'm pretty sure I use the same thing. The wineskin version is 1.2 and it was working for days and i logged out last night and installed the OS X 10.7.5 update today. Now when I type in my password and click log in, it sticks on the window that says "Output" with the gold ring by it and just freezes there with the spinning coloured ball =/
I can't seem to get it to work now so I might not be logged back in tell the official client comes out :'<
Hmm, I didn't know there might be a Mac client coming. Very good news. I was trying to play today, after an absence, on my old Mac with it in bootcamp and it was constantly quitting. I was just trying to find my second level stuff on the bar (still no clue where that is) so I was clicking around and it kept on booting me out and restarting the machine.
Oh, been here for a while. Since closed beta but I come and go from time to time

I thought I was the only one. I've been trying to change settings, download/reinstall, and anything else I could think of. Very bummed to be missing out on my LOTRO.
You have been using the wineskin installation of lotro, wine, pylotro?
You have made an OS update to the latest OS X version?
The lotro/wineskin install stopped working?
Now you hope that a new download/reinstall or just waiting will somehow magically fix it?
I am afraid that is not how this works.
What you do is find out what it is that happens so that you can fix it at the proper place.
Go take a look at log files of the client and pylotro in the usual places.
Yes, I expect the official mac client to work in place of the unofficial one. It wont be magic though, it will just be a native port and not wineskin o.o
I did check the logs though and i'm not sure what the server failure error applys to. either its when i had to force quit the app because it froze.. or its the reason its freezing. i really have no idea o.o

You have me confused now. I can certainly see how you would expect the native port, available after RoR launches, to Just Work (TM).
I was, however, under the impression that you had been speaking of the wine bottle packaged with wineskin that is giving you problems since the OS X update. If this is not the case, then apologies. If it is, then, well, you shouldn't expect it to Just Work (TM).

OK, then maybe someone can be of assistance if you post that log with the failure message somewhere (pastebin, inline here, whatever floats your boat).
I kind of had a "duh" moment last night and am back in game. Since it was the OSX update that caused the unofficial Mac client to stop working, why not "undo" the update? I just did a Time Machine restore back to before I updated OSX, and LOTRO is working just fine again.
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Press the power button to start it back up.
3. AS SOON AS you hear the Apple sound (DING), press Command+R and hold it down.
4. When the apple logo appears, release Command+R.
You have now entered recovery mode. You can restore your computer to the last Time Machine backup before you updated. You will be deleting everything on your hard drive and restoring everything at that time. So obviously back up any files you may have created or edited in the meantime.
Anyway to make it work without undoing mac update?
Hey Everyone, I usually use crossover to play lord of the rings and have for months. After the macosx update however as you guys have mentioned it stopped working. I downloaded the trial of the updated crossover but could not get lotro to play anymore and tried several times. Each time there was different issues. So I tried the unofficial client and realized that didn't work with the update either.
Any ways to install it without having to downgrade the mac update?
I spent hours uninstalling and reinstalling the new crossover and lotro with crosstie with no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I just spent the $99 on a year VIP subscription :-0
I have been trying to make LotRO a working game for most of the last few days. I still can't seem to get it working like it used to. One of the updates really seemed to kill it for me. I was running it in Bootcamp successfully for years in XP. I went to play on Saturday and the game updated and, since then, it has been very glitchy. Running for a short period before quitting. I have been updating the XP to try to make it work but, so far, it hasn't seemed to help much.
As at least one other poster has noticed... The OSX 10.8.2 Update has broken ALL VERSIONS of WINE based LOTRO installations. Codeweavers Crossover has a patched version called 11.2.2 which fixes the problem.
It will require the maintainers of any Wineskin version to "recompile" it with appropriate patches (whatever they are, but I assume they are available at WINEhq.org; and to then upload that to wherever.
Further, the Rohan Beta is not known to run in ANY KNOWN VERSION of WINE.
The Turbine Mac Client is a full port, not Cider/Wineskin/WINE etc.
[10.8.2 broke 3D OpenGL in X11. Which is why PyLotRO no longer works.]

Okay, so I downloaded the unofficial client from file planet, and everything worked fine the first time I played. I went to play the next day, and it suddenly won't launch anymore ? It says it's patched and everything, and after I hit the login button, the launcher disappears. An output window appears to replace it, and the whole thing freezes up. I really love the game, and would like to continue playing it ! Any ideas ? My computer's stats are below, any help would be appreciated ! And it was not working before I updated my computer yesterday...so I'm not sure if the post above is the case with my computer ?
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Startup Disk: Macintosh HD

Did it stop working after you updated your mac? That's caused most of the lotro on mac programs to stop working. Although it took me several tries (it installed something different each time for some reason) it worked eventually with crossover 11.2.2
