Are there clothing recipes? I've only seen reference to armor. I messed around with the summer festival long enough to get my main character a dress but I wondered if I could actually make one.
There are no clothing recipes. The closest thing to clothing is some of the light armor products. These will come with armor and other stats plus level restrictions.
Dresses are cosmetic items. They are only available as festival rewards. Or Lotro store cosmetics.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

This is something that bothers me. I am doing tailor and I thought how cool it would be to make some cosmetic items.
They won't let tailor (or other crafters) make cosmetic items so they can some more in the store.
Crafters can make dyes and they are in the store. Why not do the same for some cosmetic items?
Actually, there are a few cosmetics available to make for Tailors. Most prominently of course, the "Ceremonial" versions of the Lossoth armour, but also a few Hauberks, Dresses and Tunic & Pants sets. There's also quivers and backpacks for the cloak slot, but that's not really "clothing", I guess
These recepies are however very rare as I take it, and usually fetch quite a sum on the AH. IIRC usually at the very least 1G, more often 2 on my server.
For non-clothing "fluff", Tailors also make rugs for decorating your house
Nothing to stop you using armour with stats as cosmetics. Sometimes when I am looking for a cosmetic piece, I just try on regular armour from the auction house, it tends to be much cheaper than cosmetic because people sell armour based on item stats not how they look.
That's a point I was gonna mention but forgot Quite a few regular armourpieces (mostly light, but some medium aswell) works just fine as "clothing" used cosmetically. Don't overlook items just because they are technically Armour.
I have several clothing recipes. Most notably the pirate outift, plain tunic, plain hauberk, and some dresses. They sell well on the auction house for between 600 and 800 silver. I enjoy making them.

Ok this is cool but where do you get the recipes? :/ been wondering myself, am level 56 and a tailor. been working on supreme. But I haven;t seen any cosmetic recipes at all looted or bought. yet have heard they are out there.... heard some about being at fesitvals. But I didn;t know about that when summer festival was around. How long do i have to wait to see them? lol
True usually my primary thing seems be making armour (or gathering resources) but kinda cool do something different. Wish they had more furniture recipes to. Like would be nice to make something beside elven rugs to put in my dwarf home :P
