Also, the eagles have dressed up for October. If you still see them in their birthday finery from Frodo and Bilbo's birthday, try refreshing a time or two to see their costume change

and yes, the browser caches do catch me every now and then
I do try and get on and check for updates every day, but the browser remembers the last tab it seems whenever it wants to ?!?!?

Hi all! Just popping by to let everyone know that I've added a new section onto the site called "Connections".
The Connections section is meant to include background information that would be held as common knowledge held by all citizens of a particular town that anyone of that town can speculate on, ie: an old money family that has been in town for xyz years, a family of riff-raffs that have caused mischief in town since their conception, a lothario with a penchant for robbing women, etc.
As opposed to the Character Profile section (which is used mainly to describe your character's appearance, demeanour, and immediate history, which is usually private), the Connections section is meant to be more about creating and keeping up community connections that are meant to transfer over to in-game play.
It's like in a town, people know which family is the 'rich' one, who the 'troublemakers' are, etc, yet they might not have anything to say about John, or Martha, or Robin from so many houses over.
Keep in mind people can also add gossip to each section.
Anyhow, just thought it would be a fun interesting little section to add and test out.
Thanks to everyone that has checked the Times out and registered! C:
The eagles have shed their Halloween attire and have donned their November outfits. Do let me know if the little turkey hanging gobble thing looks alright. After looking at it for a bit, I realised it could be construed as a weird nose bleed of sorts. If so, I'll fix it up.
Hope all have had a wonderful October and are looking forward to November C:

Looks OK to me (nosebleed did not enter my mind )... Maybe make the tail-feathers a little bigger ?

They're looking good Red, but I agree the tail feathers could do with being a bit bigger.. Hehe.
One thing though, is now none of the events are showing up for me on the left side of the main page.. Dunno if its just my computer or what, but other than that everything's great!
Edit- Scratch that, everythings displaying properly now for me.
Will enlarge the feathers in a bit and Tarth, thanks for letting me know about events!
For some reason, I always have to 'update' events at the start of the month to get them to show up on the sidebar.
Welcome! And definitely, if you'd like I can delete the Visionary March events so you can post them up and therefore have control over editing them as needed?
That'd be fine We had some stuff that changed over time and since I'm finally over there now, I'd be happy to repost those, though I greatly appreciate that you posted them.

Oh it's no problem, I always try to add whatever events I see going on up there so everyone can keep track of what's happening on a weekly basis. The events have been deleted so you should be able to post them up whenever you're ready :3
One thing I noticed (And I'm not sure if Roe can edit this or not) but for our Caravan to Rivendell event Friday it says it begins at 4:30 EST, when it actually is an hour later.. I don't think folks would enjoy showing up an hour early, hehe. XD

Ah, idk, I deleted the old events so Roelyn could add them in under his own name and therefore have better control over them in case details changed later so idk, but I can edit the time to say 5:30 instead if that's the new/correct time?
That would be great, thanks!
I noticed its only wrong in the column on the front page, but right in the description so it probably was just oversight on our part.
A hearty welcome and many thanks to all who have recently joined the Times and participated!
Just letting everyone know that the site will go down for maintenance tonight about 10pm EST. It should hopefully be down only for 15-30 minutes as I implement updates.
The site is back up! Sorry it took a bit longer than originally advertised. A certain new show on amc might have wrestled my attention away from it for a few minutes.
Anyways, there is a new function on the site -- private messaging! I implemented it to see if that would help free up avenues of conversation between parties on the site and create a better sense of community. Do let me know if there are any kinks in it, or if it isn't working properly.
All members have it automatically enabled by default. If you want to opt out, or opt out of receiving email notifications on new PMs, just go to edit your account and untick the boxes toward the bottom of the page. :3
Also, keep an eye out later for a bit of a redesign of the Public Notifications section, as well as a new section going up later on focused solely on rumours and gossip!
Well normally I just use the RSS to send all updates to the site twitter, but I will add an icon on the main page in a little bit in case users are interested.
Our webhost service is currently having some issues, so if anyone tries to access the site and is experiencing long load times, or errors, fret not, I'm quite aware of it. Hopefully they get the issues solved quickly. Shall update this space, as well as the twitter when the issues have been resolved.
Sorry for the inconvenience
UPDATE: 1:34 PM EST
The site should be up and running again. There was a DDOS attack on the webhost server the site is on but everything should be resolved. Obviously if anything changes, I'll update this thread and post it on the twitter as well.

Just a quick heads up that the site will be down for a few minutes as I perform some basic, routine updates to the site's interface.
Thanks to everyone that has continued to join the site and contribute. We're always looking for new reporters and members
eta Updates are done, site is back up
ETA2 There are a few weekly events I have up on the calendar but I'm not sure if they are all still currently happening, such as Gar-Estel, the weekly MVT or BBB concerts. If anyone knows whether they have taken a brief recess or are still going strong, could you please let me know? It would be greatly appreciated!

Just wanted to give a heads up that the site will go down tonight at 9pm EST for about 15-30 minutes for regular maintenance. Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.
Also, fantastic to see new users at the Times and more people contributing!
I am looking to update the Public Notices section of the website sometime between Thursday and Sunday and was just wondering if there was anything else any of you would like to see updated, added, or removed?
Definitely let me know of any suggestions or ideas you all may have and I'll see what I can do about it!
Thanks for adding the Walk To Rivendell event! I'll have to remember from now on to send you the news.
Oh it's no problem! I always try to add whatever events I see on the forums here to the calendar (if other users haven't added it themselves already) so that there is a coherent list of things for the week, as well as sending out reminder tweets. I know sometimes I myself will say I'll go somewhere on here but completely forget about it as the thread gets pushed further down so I figured it'd be a nice, easier way to keep things updated
I'm updating the MVT concert info right now. It was not accurate, but will be after today.
The site is looking amazing, by the way!
Thank you so much! Yes, I wasn't sure if the concerts were still going on at the same time/place because I tried going once weekend and didn't see anyone Happy to see they are still going on, just at a different venue!
I imagine there was some small confusion when MVT did their concert at a later time this past Saturday then in the past. There was also an in game issue with someone posting in chat that BBB would not perform, which was not true.

Re: The Landroval Times
Well, in the past MVT has played at all sorts of times. It used to be more spontaneous and we would often go over into the midnight hour. Since BBB plays at midnight now we can't do that so we've settled on 10:30-11:30 as our regular hour, which give us a little leeway if we end up going over the hour. Outside the Pony was always our normal venue. We experimented with a couple other locations, but decided we like the Pony best.
Hope to see you there!

LOTRO /Music ~ A new website devoted to helping you explore the player music system.
The Public Notices area of the website has been updated! Instead of separating notices out by region, I've placed them all together now on one page for easier viewing.
A mighty thank you to everyone who has been supportive of the website! Remember, if you have any concerns or worries over the website, or over your inclusion in an article, I urge you to send me a PM immediately so that I can either answer your concern, assuage your worries, or connect you with the author of the piece that troubles you so that a solution could be worked out before things escalate. People are not mind readers and where one may feel they have made it clear that they were saying things in jest, another may think they spoke in earnest. A polite, private message asking about intent, or expressing reservations can go a long way to solving a tiny problem before it turns into a large one.
I'd also like to clear up any confusions with regards to the purpose of the Landroval Times. The website is first and foremost a TOOL for ROLE-PLAYING and not an objective guide to help with the technicalities of the game. We already have CSTM which does an amazingly terrific job of covering most aspects of the game and there is absolutely no way the Times could even dream to compete with. Instead, the website is meant to be a way to give your characters a voice outside of the game that will hopefully help spur in-game instances of role-play. So much of the role-play that goes on takes place within kins and the hope of the Times is to create an interconnectivity between players who might not normally associate with one another.
Just wanted to say how awesome I think the Landroval Times is. I also wanted to say thank you for taking time to put this together and keep it maintained. +rep for you!
Just a heads up, I know around 6 people signed up for the Landroval Times within the past fortnight but have yet to activate their accounts. Please just remember to check your spam folder to see if the activation email ended up there, or feel free to add admin@landrovaltimes.info to your mail filter to avoid having it disappear.
If you don't see the activation email anywhere in your mailbox, just send me a PM here, or email me at the email address above and we'll work around it.
I apologise for having it down since yesterday. There are a few things I need to fix on it and a real life emergency has kept me away from home until now.
Thanks for your patience!
Just wanted to give everyone an update and let y'all know exactly why the site is down.
Site is taking a bit longer to get back up. Someone registered onto the site and uploaded an image that tried to insert a redirect code into each of the pages so that anyone visiting the site would be redirected to a new social networking/microblogging site aimed to rival twitter/tumblr/etc. Am working with our host provider to have everything cleared and restored to a previous backup.

Until I can get the website back up and running, I've created a backup with a list of events, news reports, character profiles, etc. over at http://landrovaltimes.mymiddle-earth.net/ so everyone can continue to keep updated with the goings on around the server.
