Discussion: Results: Petition: Add Masteries to GMWT

After just over a week, there has been an incredible response from the Warden community regarding the Petition to add Masteries to Grand Master Weapons Training, rather than Way of the Warden. Thank you all for your input. I've never seen such enormous participation on these forums. The tallying is complete and the results are as follows:

64 votes for Masteries being added to GMWT
6 votes against Masteries being added to GMWT

Orion, it is now up to you. Thank you for your hard work and consideration.

I think all the devs are on vacation and everyone else is dealing with the EU migration. I'd love to see a new dev diary on anything. Even if its just about stinky female dorfs.

I agree with you but with 2 exceptions:

1- No more mini dev diaries.
2- No more champ dev diaries.


I would like to see just one more warden diary though that comes with some hard numbers so we can see exactly what is happening, rather that just knowing that it is happening.

Umm, sure I'd love to see Masteries added to GMWT too, but would you really call 68 votes an incredible response in the grander LoTRO scheme? Perhaps I'm just playing devils advocate...

what he said. If you intend to really move something, then you would need (at least IMHO) ten times as many pro GMWT votes.

I did not cast my vote, if I would have, I had voted against GMWT.

Only a small amount of players writes in a forum and the devs are well aware of that. It doesn’t matter if we have 60 votes or 600.
This will show Orion that adding masteries to WotW won’t make the whole warden community happy and that he should think about the numerous concerns we presented in the corresponding threads.

Me as well would like to see it on GMWT, but I will not cry if it stays on WoTW, as its a major buff in itself! There are other aspects of the update im way more worried about (still no yellow update, potency seems..... weird)

Considering how many people actually view the warden forum on a regular basis over the summer, I think 68 unique votes is a good response.

I doubt the warden forum in general has even had 600 unique viewers from the time the thread was made.

Even then the 6 votes against were mostly people who thought that having it on either GMWT or on WOTW is unacceptable. Really, we shouldn't have to use up a legendary trait to make our class playable. How many other classes call upon this legendary skill up to 6 times in 15s every 15 seconds. At the least we're using a mastery every 5 seconds while in combat. It's just silly.

LMs? RKs? They keep their passive boosts from them. Imagine a LM without staff and sword equipped. He'd be laughed at (if you stop to think about it Staff and sword is not an awesome trait at cap, if they get a new trait people, might replace it).

I think that a LM could still function without S&S, sure. For the most part in groups, all they are getting out of it is a boost to stats. I don't know enough about RK passive legendaries. In either case, it doesn't render the class nearly unplayable.

I’ve already agreed that it’s silly that masteries should be considered a legendary trait. Unfortunately, Orion has already said that making them trainable skills isn’t going to happen. I felt like the next best thing would be to have them added to GMWT, and so that is why this petition was created.

As for the response to the petition-- in one week, 70 different people responded to the thread with their opinion. Many of those people said that they have never posted before. Of course 70 people isn’t a lot when compared to the number of wardens that actively play LOTRO across all servers, but personally, I saw the names of many posters that I have never seen before.

In summary, 91% of the people that voted on the thread thought that adding masteries to GMWT would be better than adding them to WotW… That seems like a pretty large majority and high rate of agreement to me. Of course people will always disagree. Had Orion not ruled out the possibility of making masteries trainable skills, I may have created a petition for that. I’m sure that some people still would have disagreed with the idea. This was simply a tool to try to make sure the voice of the warden community was heard, no matter the outcome. Hopefully we were able to accomplish that. Thanks for your participation.
