[EVENT] Wilderness Appreciation Day - biweekly
Suilad, Elves and Elf-friends!

~*~
The time has come to take a break from war and struggle, to leave destruction and strife behind and take comfort in the beauty of our world Arda..
Join us then as we meet by moonlight to bathe in the beauty of Nature, to take rest from Her and return Her favour in our songs and blessings.
~*~
Linna Na Gelaidh invite all lovers of nature to the Wilderness Appreciation Days, where we shall meet in one of the most beautiful spots of Middle-Earth, take comfort in her restfulness and bless the land with songs and prayers.
Even if our prayers alone can not hold the Shadow back forever, they will bring gladness to the land for a short time, and strengthen it in its fight against the corruption...
~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~
~*~ Current Event ~*~
The next event is on Thursday, June 28!
~*~
Where waters wet and sweetly flow,
Where whispering, swaying willows grow,
Where whitest water-lilies glow.
~*~
The next event will be held on Thursday, June 28, 20 BST/21 CEST.
Whisper Nimlith or Miji if you need help finding the spot or an escort.
This is a low level area. Everyone is welcome!
OOC: This is an elf-preferred (but all races welcome), friendly, happy and very open RP event. The idea is to appreciate beautiful spots and take a rest from our daily struggles. We ask that there is to be no fighting or killing - even of animals - at this event; other than that bring whatever you want - songs and poems are appreciated, as is good food and drink, riddles and stories, and individual RP.
Tree-hugging is positively encouraged!
We meet biweekly, usually on Thursdays 19:00 GMT (9PM CET, 8PM British summer time). If you need help with finding the spot, we add hints as the time of the meeting approaches, or you can whisper one of our members in-game. If the event is held in a higher-level area, there will be a captain standing by to summon those who cannot reach the spot on their own.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Big thanks to everyone who contributed - so many stories, songs and poems this time!
If you had one, maybe you could post them here (or on LA) so they aren't lost?
Re: [EVENT] Wilderness Appreciation Day - biweekly
Nim, i dont know if you have done this or thought of this idea before. But for your event have you considered having a theme for each of them tied to the area your in perhaps?
If your in the Shire maybe tales, songs and music of the shire folk. Or in the northlands tales of the Dunadain or tales of winter etc?
I was just thinking of ways for your event to grow and evolve as its very popular and well supported by the RP community across the board.Khalis - Elven Warder & Captain in the Warband of Imladris
Re: [EVENT] Wilderness Appreciation Day - biweekly
As a matter of fact I have, Khalis - we had a number of events in which a (planned or spontaneous) story happened, as well as events where people told stories concerning the surrounding area or locals turned up with their music.
But the theme of the Wilderness event to me is always this: Spontaneous, relaxing and above all free RP.
It feels bad having to curtail others' contributions because of an event. And above all, it discourages people from bringing their own things if they know it is moderated - I want noone to feel that their contribution is less appreciated than another's, IC and OOC.
And ICly, of course, this is supposed to be "A break from War and Struggle"
In any case, it seems this format seems to work pretty well, since we keep coming back to it
But of course, if you want to come to the event and contribute with something special, let me know! I'm always glad to accommodate.
Re: [EVENT] Wilderness Appreciation Day - biweekly
Hey this sounds like it is just for me, I am just wondering, will being a new player to LOTRO affect my role-playing experience on Laurelin? I have countless amounts of hours of Role-playing experience from many other games but this one is quite different and may take some getting used to. I would be honored to join if I could get an escort seeing as I don't know the area very well. Let me know! Thank you.
Re: [EVENT] Wilderness Appreciation Day - biweekly
You would be very welcome!
Don't worry, this event is for RPers of all experience levels. If you feel unsure of how to act, just sit by and relax, or see what the others do
We won't bite, I promise!
What level is your character? I try to alternate high and low level areas to give everyone a chance to join, but this time getting there could be a challenge with a lower level..We'll escort, of course!
How about meeting in Rivendell before the event? That would give you a chance to get acquainted ICly as well.
I might have forgotten to send in-game invitations this time? If anyone needs one to ensure their character is informed, please poke me about it and I'll send you one. Everyone is heartily invited anyway, consider a little bird whispering it in your ear!
If we can't summon you (there might be a level limit, though if you can be summoned to Rivendell you should be able to be summoned to Trollshaws as well), we'll be trying to bring any low-levels that want to come from Rivendell to the place about half an hour in advance. Just don't be late!
Whisper me on the evening and we'll try to work out a solution that fits you.
PS: Since we'll be indiscriminately zapping creatures in that case, count any such escort as OOC please
