The Iron Axes - Dwarf-centric but quasi-mixed NA based casual Rp kin

Hail to you, be you among the Stout folk, the Hobbit-folk, or Race of Man! Aye, and to the Fair Folk as well, where are my manners.

The dwarf leans his large hammer leaning against the wall in the corner and drops his frayed pack alongside it. He turns, and sits heavily in the cushioned chair facing the fire. Drawing a plain wooden pipe from a pocket inside his shirt, he packs it with a pinch of leaf pulled form a belt pouch. It is a rich brown color, and has a sweet yet mellow scent. Pulling from the pipe, he exhales the smoke into three rings, scratches a new scar that runs across his eye, and, finally settling, begins talking in a low voice while stroking his beard

I am Oaric, son of Aorik, son of Iorak, of the Line of Ilmarik, he who fled the Fall of Khazad-dûm. Mayhaps you’ve come to know me, and my goals… and mayhaps you have not. Regardless, I will tell you the tale of our group’s, and what we seek in the time afforded to us by Mahal.

I assume you’ve heard of the Moria Expedition? They set out several years ago to seek word of Balin’s re-colonization attempts undertaken 30 years earlier. When they departed, both my father and grandfather answered the call (I was too young, they told me, having only just passed my fiftieth year). They found themselves in the service of Brogur as forge-smiths, and departed thence with his host. Naught has been heard from them since their departure, and little is known concerning the success of the Moria Expedition

As such, I have answered Captain-guard Unnarr’s call as a volunteer to seek word of the expedition. I have joined with some of my kin-folk, and am seeking allies from among the other free races. Some, like me, seek the halls for personal reasons. Others seek the lore of the deeps, and knowledge that may be contained in the Halls of Durin’s Folk that was. Some of you have been promised coin or a part of your share of the treasures that may be found in the Lost Halls. All of you will win glory for your name and your house.

The path before us may be steep and dark, and grim it may be at times. But stout and true of heart we are, and we will find glory in the Underhalls! Join us, ye folk of different lands, and share our road as we strive for the Halls of Durin’s Folk!

[OOC: We are a mixed-race, but somewhat dwarf-centric, medium rp kin that plays on the Laurelin server. As we are among the (so-far) few North American transplants to that server, our playtime is met with a low server population. So this kin was born in an effort to unite those newcomers to Laurelin and provide a casual, yet fun, productive, and humorous playing and rp'ing experience, and to provide a group or network of people that can work together to tackle end-game content.

    Some main points:

    1. We’re North-American based, and are active during EST evenings. We created this kin when we realized that other RP kins in the server, though very established and very desirable to be part of, are not very active during our playing time (and vice versa). Anyone from any time-zone are welcome to join, and we now have people playing during our daytime (i.e., the EU evening peak time)

    2. We’re dwarf-centric, but not limited to dwarves, in terms of RP/storyline, this is because we’re freelance adventurers commissioned by the Lords of Thorin's Hall and not a proper dwarven military unit under their service. As such, we’ve made the decision that other races may join; this is largely a logistical decision, as limiting the kin to only Dwarves during our playtime would result in a very small kin.

    3. We’re a medium RP kinship The /say channel is IC, but in fellowship and kin channels you are free to be IC and OOC.

    4. Our RP style is open and organic, that is to say that we are a group of traveling merchants, message carrying scribes, flute-playing historians, freelance warriors and one roasted chicken eating contest champion brought together by the common goal of reaching Khazad-Dum. Gameplay-wise we wish to eventually get a group of folk together to tackle the late-game instances (though that’s more of consideration for the future), but we’re open into doing anything (questing, skirmishing, deeding, tasking, etc.)

    5. Everyone of all levels and playing experience is welcome. Everyone is there to help out everyone else, be it with quests, crafting, questions, rp, etc.

    6. We’re pretty laid back, casual adults (in body, not so much in mind); No age limits - just be mature, but not necessarily serious.

Anyway, I think that sums it up – PM me here, send a tell to Oaric, Berlosi, Mathfield, or Darkhilt in game if interested.

Good-day to you, my fellow hobbits and big folks, I'm Razo Boggyfoot of the hamlet of Willowbottom in the East Farthing, and I travel with my courageous dwarf friends who are preparing to depart for the mine of Moria to deliver some messages or something, it's all very secretive and hush-hush, as it is their custom.

But I still managed to find out something about their mission!

It happened just this pass summer when I ran into Oaric again at the Floating Log Inn, he appeared to have already a little bit too much of ales. So after helping him helps me to a bit more of the potent The Toad's Tongue ales, he told me about the secret of the lost recipes of Moria.

O dear friend, he talked about the roast mountain mutton sprinkled with spices and minerals, so stringy, so tender, and Mole's Brain soup so fine and smooth that nothing in the Shire can match. Furthermore, he mentioned that an expedition party, led by the brother of Lord of Thorin's Hall, already went to a couple of years ago so it must be safe there.

Of course, with Oaric's drunken promise that this adventure will be very short and he will stick to me through thick and thin, I can't help it, I must go and taste the mountain mutton and the mole and other lost delicacies of Moria. So, I offered myself to cook and sing to keep his journey comfortable, and that's how I've come to travel with a band of funny looking dwarves slowly toward the border of the Shire to lands-unknown.

Oaric the dwarf: "This I promise you, my hobbit-lad, that in no way is this journey to Khazad-Dum dangerous with us the Iron Axes around. So just think about those succulent mountain mouton and start walking. Or else, I'd drag you out of the Shire if I have to!"

Razo the hobbit:"And I do get to keep this handsome green armor you said?"

It was never said that Razo has much hobbit-sense, or that Oaric makes a honest dwarf.

You do play a fine cowbell, Razo of Willowbottom! Made even this dwarf's feet move - clunky as they are...

We're trying to get a weekly public event going (and by we, I mean Razo is spearheading the movement, so credit to him). Whether you're interested in the kin or just looking to RP, please join us at the Ivy Bush in Hobbiton, 10:00 pm EST.

    Hi!

While I (Oaric) won't personally be online tonight, my kinmen-in-arms will be. You can send a tell to Razo or Berlosi, or simply come by the Ivy Bush Inn in Hobbiton sometime this eve, as we're having our weekly public RP thing going on. Starts at about 10 pm EST (eastern standard time, or GMT -4, I think), and usually goes to about midnight.

Either way, I'll be back on tomorrow (Friday) night, so you can send me a tell then if feel like it.

While exploring I came across the leader of the Iron Axes Oaric, seeing a great many strengths in their combined experience and knowledge I chose to join up with this band of misfits, hoping to learn some new tricks. I am still wary about where this inebriated dwarf might lead us!!! -Osdis

Hey now, hey now! Misfits? Inebriated?? *scratches his beard, and looks around* Aye, we might be a bit motley, but our intentions are noble, and our goals are good! And I'll have you know, young Miss, that this dwarf is hardly ever inebriated! Only when I find myself in a good Inn.. or in the Shire.. Those Hobbits make a fine ale, it is true to say...

*mumbles to himself* Bought time I found my way back to that fine Green Hill Country.. or mayhaps Hobbiton... Razo was expecting another fine crop of Shire-leaf...
