Now as im sure alot of you are aware, there is a old RP channel. A channel created by a group of us way back when we tried to create the Laurelin Roleplayer Association, the channel is all thats left of that ill fated venture. But even this has dwindled into a hiding hole for the strange and kinless .
When it was created, it was meant to be a central OOC channel for ALL roleplayers who were apart of the LRPA community and thus a password was put on it. Its purpose originally was for roleplay coordination during big events and the like, also smaller more personal events.
Now i know it has a somewhat odd collection of users now and a rather poor reputation. But i believe it is still a valid tool and if more roleplayers could be convinced to use it, it could again serve its orignal purpose. Its easy to add the idiots to ignore lists and just talk to those you wish too.
Anyways in a attempt to pull some fresh blood into our tired old channel heres how to join it.
Simply type /join channel LaurelinRP steakandkidney
As i said not all are friendly there and we do have some kinless inmates who treat the channel like their own personal kinchat. But these can be easily ignored!

Just one thing make a little experiment: go in that channel and ask: Someone want to RP? I'm sure someone will say yes. Also I remember that all the RP events still are announced there, open ones.

Joking aside (and yes, the above is a joke!), most of what goes on in that channel is naught more than friendly banter. Granted, it may look otherwise to people who haven't cottoned onto the humour yet, but we're honestly not that bad or mean to each other.
And yes, it still performs its intended purpose of reminding people of events and hooking up people with RP... between bouts of general random silliness and discussions about the laws concerning boiled eggs

Yes very much so, just watch out for Fallian and his Muffin fetish and Ilaru and her Mongbat army! Regardless the channel needs to be kept in the public eye so to speak and more roleplayers should be encouraged to use it. Hence this thread!

I have no chat channels free, and I already find roleplay and nice chatter in Cymaru's channel, Eventchannel. I've ventured into the LaurelinRP channel briefly and had to leave quickly. It was just people bashing others. Maybe I didn't give it enough time, but the first impression put me off. It's a shame.

I'ts not the channel that has the bad rep, it's some of the folk who venture in it. Even so, I feel what it is now, a sort of player-made-OOC is good. It's good banter at times and doesn't spam OOC channel and we can place it under a new tab. Although, I can see how it has deviated from it's old target, it's still used at times for organise RP, however minimal - usually between two people as opposed to a full blown event.
We do need new folk in it, I agree. However, if you - or more, we - wanted it to focus back to it's original target it's the current people who need to do that? Not new people, as they will see the current 'banter' etc and believe this to be the intended purpose, ergo: deviating further from the original plan.

Its a funny channel to say the least, but would be nice if we can use it again for some RP discussion...
