Thread: The Sun is Rising - Laurelin joined forces.

I will mos' def be there! Been looking forward to this for quite some time now, ever since Joy started talking about it. I know some other Riders are as well, so we going to have a BLOODY good time on Vanyar.

So my Reaver is signing up for the war!

Right - ready to go - There is now a "Kaeow" on "Vanyar" with a stable of Creeps.

I may try to get them the basic map before our glorious invasion so watch out for greenrings with "Kae" in their names and be gentle ..... yeah right

Oh - Interesting idea - the letters in the names...

Have been thinking about the naming there... Just feel, that Joy is a bit hmmm - wrong in creep names? But on the other hand, some of you know one of my creep name Columbine - might not be so much better.

There have also been some talking about a tribe name - any ideas?

I made an ingame chatchannel there on creepside, so we can get in touch when we start the event. I plan to be online there a little before time, to start gathering ppl.
We need to sort out how many we will be - and who to lead raid/raids and give details for teamspeak channel to the leaders.

Maybe we can manage to make the tribe there too, if there is an interest in having one. And if you have a good idea for a tribe name, feel free to post it here.

The ingame chatchannel can do, if ppl. already are in tribes there, and don't want to leave those.

Some of us have already been there a few hours to check out the battlefield - and some have played there before - and I think we are in for a hell of a night. YAY

After the event - I would love to get some feedback - How was it? Would you participate another time for such an event? What did I forget to think through before the event? In other words, what could I do better next time - if theres gonna be a next time? Was it okay with a huge meeting, like the one we did before this Vanyar event - and should we have meetings like this again or just keep the dialoge here on forums? (You are always free to contact me in game.)
If you guys like this, I would love to set up events like this, maybe once every month - you just need to tell me, what YOU think of this.

I can't wait to join forces with all you epic PvMP'ers!

I won't be taking part, Laurelin Ettens has been doing great these past few weeks, seems a real shame to move people away from this and go to another server during prime time when most people log in for the raid action.

More can be done on the current server with a little bit of effort from all of us to replace the things you all think are missing.

I agree with Palinkirk here. Plus... just a note for Vanyar-intic freeps...I did a test on my creep the other day, drove down the same path 23 times in row with a rank1 creep in 8-10m, there were 4 burglars camping it. They killed me 23 times exactly one after the other. These guys are so renown ****, i really feel sorry about them and their lives. Have fun with the event tho.

I agree with what your saying, but I think that as a one off event its ok to do this occasionally.

I think part of the aim is to get Laurelin PvPers cooperating in a friendly spirit which is a good idea, but I agree totally that our priority should be more effort on Laurelin!

It's one evening in a month. People aren't moving away...
The idea of the event is to fight together with all Laurelineans under one banner. This is impossible to do on Laurelin, because who would you fight against? Therefore an invasion on another server.

And about Priority for Laurelin.
I cannot disagree with that, but I don't see someone coming up with something else. Say we had this huge event on Laurelin on the same day, sure I'd go there instead to an invasion. But that sunday is just yet another sunday. These events are better than nothing.

I can imagine how he got his ranks... I dont care if they are suicidal with a freakin OP class, doesnt change anything. Easy kill, is easy kill. And thats what they ve been looking for there . Ask Mornaro, he s r14 there. Ask him, if freeps go for easy kill only. I m in his tribe.

Actually this event have also made some low lvl. try out pvmp as creeps - I think we actually can recruit new pvmp'ers on Laurelin aswell - it wasn't the plan - but very good to see.
For Laurelin events - on Laurelin, I hope maybe some of the older alliances will take some responsibility to work for those. Maybe some of the chat sunday, can be to try come up with some ideas - I can log chat if you want me to - maybe something come up - at least us, who usually die first, can get a chance to chat there... Well - just an idea of a topic to discus, while we are gathered anyway.

I don't want to say anything about tactic on Vanyar (or Laurelin) - I am to much a noob for that - I just go there for the fun - with all of you guys - and I don't really care much about tactic - I go by the rule: Nice to know or need to know... and tactics - are for those smarter than me...

Sometimes we just have to do thing upside down, to get what we want. This is an experiment - and it will be evaluated after the event.
But as you said, things are already improving - and I got feedback from people, that liked the meeting in Merriment Inn - where they had the chance to be in the same room, with people they only use to fight. Socializing - which I believe is the clue to make us all, my self included, more open to try understand what is going on on the other side of the ongoing war, to understand that the people there, are as different as we on our side are - and to understand, that things often can be seen from different views.

Some time ago, I had an argue with a raidleader, that blamed me for something stupid. I was in a bad mood - and got so angry, that I left the raid. Well - the next day I confronted the guy - and ofc. he didn't mean anything by that - it was just a stupid misunderstanding; him just being a noob and me just being a little to easy to get angry that day . I guess you all know, that Banana-boy and Kiwi share something special - friendship! Well - it started out up-hill - but the misunderstanding was cleared between us. I am glad, I did this, but it is even more easy to clear out misunderstandings with people you have laughed with and feel you also have something in common with. And we do share some passion - all of us... for Tolkiens universe... Lets hold on to that - and sharpen our blades - we are going to war!

Ask Mornaro how many times he gets ganked because he is noob? Many many times, because people hate him there because of his coward zerging style.

Even though I would have argued for chosing another server, I will try to make this. And let's please keep any chat out of OOC, it is a German server afterall. If needed I can volunteer to translate since my mothers language is German.

Laurelin is still the best server for pvmp for me. On Landroval , i have a rank4 defiler, creeps really need help there most of the times, to me, its a much better choice than Vanyar.

I just commented on Vanyar, because alot of people make it look like paradise. No server is perfect. It has its ups, and pros, but if you look at it more precisely, it sure has its cons. Sure, most of the people would say, shut up, you ve played too little there to judge, but...the most representative experiment you can do , oxymorously, is just to log on one random day and see what happens in usual peak hours . If you see 10 burglars around ganking all time loners, those 10, are prolly every day there. Vanyar has a lot of action, lots of infamy, lots and lots of deaths ( i have half of my kills, as death number there ) but we cant make it look much better than Laurelin just because of that. I prefer playing against people who actually try to put up some effort for killing something, than playing against burgs, specially this period, which they are ridiculously OP. And Vanyar is full of burgs

I agree in trying to keep chat out of OOC! Ve are visitors, and need to behave like that!

Advice to what creep to roll out there:

Reavers are easy and strong to start with (since they get Charge! at the start).
Wargs are pointless I think and there's always someone who's going to play it, so we will have some.
Spiders will certainly do.
BAs will be too weak I think, but we do need some I'd say.
Defilers are decent and we'll certainly need a couple of those.
WLs are decent/weak and we'll certainly need a lot of these.

So I'd say ask people to roll healers, then Reavers/Spiders, then BAs and then wargs.

Firstly, thank you all for your opinions. They are all welcomed and valued. We don't regard any of it as negative, just contructive.
We acknowledge that it might seem strange that we are doing it on a different server, but it is the only logical way for us to fight alongside those who are usually our enemy. (The Rising Sun is for both freeps and creeps). It seems slightly odd that i will be healing people who usually trample across my dead body in the middle of TA. This will be the first event of many from The Rising Sun, so feedback is more of a necessity than a strain.
Regardless of who you are fighting, the class they play, where they play at most, who they target and relations between players, you can have fun at this event, I know for a fact I will. If you don't fancy it, that's fine, we aren't going to force you to join us (except a few :P). Just enjoy it, and hopefully everyone will learn from it and maybe enjoy the PvP on Laurelin a bit more.
I'm an optimistic person, and right now (despite what others are saying), I believe that the PvP on our server is good. Raids almost every night and many people trying desperately to rank, couldn't be better! I know most people who play Freepside and I have developed some good relations with many players through the Ettenmoors and Frontline, that i value very highly. I intend to do the same with players from the Creepside too.
After all, it is just a game, have fun!

Dear Rising Sun creeps,

it has been a pleasure to fight alongside everyone without ressentiments. You charged as one, you died as one and you laughed as one, my charging heart was very proud of you lot! Keep this spirit in your minds when you go out there the next day!

I have already received a lot of warm and good feedback from the creeps of Vanyar in tells and have posted a feedback-post on their forums, which I will of course evaluate and translate asap.

Little sidenote: we crashed their server, and not only PvP

I smiled all evening, something I haven´t done for a long time in PvP, thanks for that!

A special thank you to Lyzion and Nak??? who were leading the raids, to Riiggs for not getting nearly enough kbs and to our beloved Joy, who had the idea and the guts to set this up! Go on Kiwi, the road is long and waiting for you

This was really fun! Many thanks to all who participated and made this a fun event and to Joy for organizing it The lag was really awful, and if I had been on a regular "us against them"-day in the ettens I probably would have logged after a few minutes. But since the attitude was more "Lets have fun AND die trying" it was all a good laugh We should really try to keep up the good spirit and bring that back to Laurelin as well. Stop antagonizing each other and just have fun.

Good with coordination between the raids on Team Speak as a single raid was way too weak to do any real damage to anything ^^ Unranked creeps really are squishy x)

I didn't participate in this event since I wasn't up to date on the forum-posts about it but I would be very interested in more events like this.

As have been said above, it might sound strange to arrange an event on a different server to kick some life into Laurelin PvMP but it's a great idea imo. Especially if the result will be in regular invasions of different servers, not only by us but let's hope we get invaded too.

When the next invasion will take place I will definitely participate.

Yep, Hispa, you´ve had great influence on the success of the evening by that, cheers! As for me, I liked socializing with everyone, lagging badly and slacking behind in the process. I have already posted in Vanyar forums for their opinions and handed out the invitation for the rematch on Laurelin, offering my help as the communication guy if they intend to come over. I hope we get some feedback on the event from their side and will present you what I have gathered here.

A success beyond imagination. Everyone seemed to have fun, freeps and creeps alike. And the intention of socializing and fighting alongside each other was definitely reached. Though I couldn´t follow communication on TS, I felt very comfortable all evening with everyone in such a bright mood! On remarkable thing that struck me was, that all the discussion about Vanyar and the guys moving there was completely in vain, proving that the prejudices and concerns were completely void. Thus, if everyone keeps civilized, the fun returns, a lesson we should learn from this, if not THE lesson!

More events? YES, please!. But I would believe that one event every 6-8 weeks would be enough, since the work you need to do before is quite time consuming.

Regarding the invasion of an american server: shouldn´t be much of a problem if we adjust times a bit and aim for a weekend. Elendilmir has 4 different timezones (aussies as well) and if we decide to play on a sunday again at the same time, there should be action, but we can find out with preposting in the corresponding forum, at the same time getting the conversation going, which will help immensely with our intended invasion.

I for one would love to have semi-regular invasions of different servers and hopefully these will encourage those servers to come visit us .... which can only be a good thing right?!

the event was good in general but the game is not prepared to massive events and lag skill is a shame

when some of the natives leaved we got a good performance and the hour we stand fighting from lug GY to TA gate was quite fun

Totally agree, it's also a poor reflection on LOTRO itself that after all this time they can't manage a stable Ettens with 50 or so people.

Anyway I am up for another, like Parmur said most fun I've had in PvP for a long while.

Hispanea is now playing mostly in creep side to try to balance this, but obviously thats not enough.
Most of the ranked creeps are not playing now, and the greenies are funny and try to help, but still being greenies.
Even the bravest of the creeps eventually gets bored of being farmed.

So cmon freeps, give creeps a chance and log your monsters again, and let the infamy fest start.
