Im going to miss seeing your name dotted around middle earth buddy, really hope the absaloutly terrible autogenerated name Therkinbor becomes as renowned and feared.
Ps good move turbine damn i cant help but be offended by the name smuff.

Dude the title is quite creepy.
Though it's quite annoying he got forced into a rename, you see Turbine rules differ from the CM ones and they don't make exceptions for migrated accounts.

but the fact you are allowed to rename your character after they changed yours but you have to pay for it does seem ridiculous to me. OK if they swapped your name and didn't allow you to pick a new one as they believed you would choose an offensive one fair enough but allowing you to do it at your cost just seems to me to be a money-grabbing policy rather than one designed to prevent offensive names.

lucky me then i got renamed just before transfer ... i didnt have to pay for rename at least!

just like juhatar... (put here that juhatar was live name for almost 4 years! - and was even transferred from snowbourn to eldar!)

and i think there should be a new policy that when they want to rename someone... that in fact they ask why he named his character that way first..

the name most likely is changed due the fact that "smuff" is a sexual urban word (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=smuff), and with that it violates the name policies.. What turbine is doing wrong here is to give him a random generatic name witouth consulting him if he wants to get a different name of his liking, on top of that he needs to pay to change a name which was assinged to him without choise, thats just a money grabbing trick.. On codies servers the name never was a problem, because in EU we don't use these kind of urban words that often (and i bet most didnt even know what it means), unfortunatly we were transferred without choise to some americans who are just 'sex shy'.. ahh well, hope that turbine at least will give our smuff the chance to pick a new name for free!!

Still a shame his name gets changed... We'll have to get used to it I guess.

Yup. Turbines don't give a free rename out like codemasters did.

Shows us all how desperate Turbine is for money and cares sweet fa about its customers.

I thought customer service was one where 'we' are looked after & not that we look after the 'company' as customers.

Turbine needs to look at themselves in the mirror more often otherwise people will be going elsewhere and take our great community spirit, gameplay, and customer loyalty with us. LOTRO isn't the only mmo out there and from what I, most have way better customer service.

A simply free rename, due to being moved continents, due to the fact that a name one side of the Atlantic is 'possibly' offensive elsewhere, should give that user the chance to select his/her own rename without cost.

Turbine stop being such money-grabbing old farts and wise up.....

A real shame we wont see SMUFF in ettens and will have to remember the new name

Sorry if the title seems a bit perverse but it was intended that way.
The fact is your lotro character names defines your identity in game and by taking that away from players their reputation is killed in a way.

just checked the definition of smuff..

There are over ten definitions of what "smuff" means, each with a different term depending what you wanna say. Apparently they did highlight the dirty term with the excuse it is written on UrbanDictionary. Such a professional approach to rely on a "slang" dictionary.

He was given the name Tegar although people will still call him Smuff i reckon.
