Community Team and Moderator Introductions
Welcome to the Official LOTRO Forums! We're glad you're here. We'd like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Those of you who have been around for a while already know the Turbine Community Team, but you we'd like to introduce you to some additional names you'll see roaming the forums.
As part of our transition to a global service, we’ve added a moderation team to assist the Community Team in keeping the high standards the LOTRO Community has come to expect. In addition to our current English speaking staff we've added native French and German speaking moderators to our team. You’ll be able to easily identify them by the White Tree and Seven Stars avatar, and the Guard of the Citadel title.
Before they introduce themselves, here are some things you should know about them.
What’s the difference between the new moderators and the existing Community Team?
Moderators are tasked with upholding the Community Guidelines. While their primary focus is to address issues in their native language, they may also address or escalate issues in English where they see a need.
They can address reported posts, flag posts they feel are marginal for review by the community team, and perform other moderation duties such as moving, closing or deleting threads as the need arises.
Unlike the Community Team, they cannot answer questions related to the game, bugs, releases, customer service, the LOTRO Store, or other issues not directly related to the Community Guidelines. They may, however, translate answers given by the Community team into French of German to assist players having similar issues. They'll also have a lot of work helping me with my French and German grammar.
Can a moderator issue infractions?
Moderators can issue warnings and infractions.
What if I disagree with a moderator’s decision?
If you feel a moderator’s actions were inappropriate or unjustified you may contact a member of the Community Team, via private message, to discuss it.

Now that you know what they can do, I'm very pleased to present our native-speaking moderation team! Please welcome them to our forums, and check out their bio's below!Last edited by Sapience; Jun 27 2012 at 10:20 AM.

Salutations!
Greetings !
I am Isdring. I hail from the Paris area, but I am a traveler “par excellence” . When I am not moderating or playing video games, I am the father of a little girl, a translator of all kinds of texts, volunteer (on three continents, up to date), and a musician (yup, I know: a mix of all sorts of stuff!). I am a fan of all sorts of comics, of all styles of music, and of video games. On the LOTRO forums, I am your go-to French speaker, here to improve and facilitate your experience. See you in the forums!Last edited by Isdring; Jun 05 2011 at 09:28 PM.

AW: Community Team and Moderator Introductions
Guten Tag!

Guten Tag! My name is Ornaith and: Ich bin ein Jelly Donut ... err, Berliner. When I'm not playing or moderating computer games, I'll most likely be spending most of my time on books (those things with the pages), records (sounds vaguely familiar) and movies (sometimes even without 3D or even color). Old-school and loving it. Here at LOTRO, I'm your guy when it comes to the German forums and always at your service.

Also also very happy to welcome our new European players as well! =^_^= It's all so exciting to have everyone board in one big, giant community! I can't wait to meet you all! (Gosh, so many exclamation marks in this post! Oh no, there's another one!)
And I can't wait to see everyone crack some of our new moderator's names. They are quite fun.

Re: Community Team and Moderator Introductions
Maybe they aren't meant to be blue names because they aren't Devs/CMs and thus cannot answer specific game-related questions/bugs/account stuff. They're definitely mods in the forums already (since about Update 3 you can see forum mods at the bottom of the thread lists).
Either way, welcome new mods, good luck to you, hope you serve well and wisely. And have fun translating everything :P

Re: Community Team and Moderator Introductions
Going on the presumption that the names are in Sindarin or Quenya here are my suggestions:
Ornaith - oakspear (literally 'tree point')
Isdring - lore hammer
Hadoril -spearwoman
Tirithest - steadfast guard/stalwart vigilance
Hasbobad - prohibition against fighting
Sidlamel - voice of peace

Considering I know what they all really mean, that probably got a bigger laugh than you expected!
Because the moderation team's primary focus is moderation and not answering questions or posting information, they won't show up in the tracker. They will also not be blue, for much the same reasons.Rick Heaton, Community Manager, The Lord of the Rings Online.

I am *way* jealous of their titles. I want a lore-related title! :-0
Anyways, welcome guys! Cool avatars!
I always loved the film's rendition of the White Tree.
If not blue... maybe they should have like, orange names or something? The people in the tech forums get green, CMs get blue... translators need a color too!
Maybe a goldish-orange...

Re : Re: Community Team and Moderator Introductions
You should come to where I'm admin, the moderators (or actually the moderatoress) are ine pink.
Actually, I always think it's a good idea to have the mods be easily distincted from other people. In some other place where the team was large and somehow diluted, mods were using a special color in their posts so that they were automatically spotted.
Sinon, un petit coucou particulier à Isdring, qui va avoir la lourde tâche de canaliser les hordes de francais qui ont commencé à se déverser sur ces forums.
Heureusement, on est encore à peu près confinés dans nos sections...
Otherwise, a little special hello to Isdring, who'll have the huge task to contain the masses of French who already started to invade this place.
Hopefully, we stay in our language-specific sections... for the moment
And as for the team's names, I resign. My elvish is almost inexistant...
Regards,
SkroLive from the other side of the Great Eastern Sea

Re: Community Team and Moderator Introductions
Hello,
and welcome to the new mods !
Good luck and enjoy
About their task, it would be even better if Turbine allow them to really act as a link between the community and the Devs.Unlike the Community Team, they cannot answer questions related to the game, bugs, releases, customer service, the LOTRO Store, or other issues not directly related to the Community Guidelines. They may, however, translate answers given by the Community team into French of German to assist players having similar issues. They'll also have a lot of work helping me with my French and German grammar.
Moderators are needed on a forum, but a privileged interlocutor is even more needed !
Allow them more authority to speak in Turbine's name, it won't be helping if the only answer they can give is "I can't answer that, I don't know, I'm not allowed to discuss that" ...
Communication is essential, so improve it with this opportunity.Last edited by Sweetfoot; Jun 07 2011 at 04:37 AM.

Re: Community Team and Moderator Introductions
Are the English-speaking moderators all Ameircan now as several of us from the UK have noticed that the names of charcaters that are humerous are being changed, causing much annoyance.
Although we share a common language US and British cultures are different and heavy-handed US-centric moderation can upset players.
