Thread: How to get "New Posts" to show up English Only

So with the addition of our European Friends we now see a wonderfully huge amount of new posts.

I would love some way to filter them by language.

I would love other controls on filtering New Posts too (like omitting certain forums I'm not interested in, but maybe thats too much to ask right now.)

Is there a way to do this already with preferences?
If not could we please do this soon? It makes it prohibitive to read through New Posts now. Especially on mobile devices where lots of scrolling and clicking of "next" is involved all of a sudden.

Unfortunately, no, the new posts button is a default function of the forums and cannot be configured to show certain forums or languages. New posts will always show the newest posts from all forums. Sorry!

Is this something that can be added? Wouldn't mind the functionality of refining that New post search in other ways too; like No PvMp/server, or even No servers at all.

Aye, this would be a very useful function. While I do not wish to appear to anti-anyone (I'm not), filtering through posts that I can't read even if I wanted to isn't something I enjoy doing. To be fair, the SOE forums are like this too so it isn't just Turbine that doesn't provide this flexibility. It is annoying though.

Would be a handy feature to have. But it's a minor annoyance and there are probably one or two things higher on the list for the Turbine team right at this very minute.

I agree it would be nice to filter out languages I can't understand but I have found that adding the Google "Translate" button to the Google toolbar has made it very interesting

While we have no ability to filter out posts based on the language used, you can use the forums advanced search to build your own "New Posts" search and bookmark the results.

Taking that a step further, we could add items to the menu for targeted advanced searches; I'm guessing that these might be ones to meet needs:

• "New Posts (US)" - filters out the languages forums and EU worlds.
• "New Posts (DE)" - includes only the German language forum and the EU worlds
• "New Posts (FR)" - includes only the French language forum and the EU worlds

Actually vBulletin has an extension that makes this possible. It presents a UI to the user where the user can select subforums that will be excluded from "new posts".

It used to be vBulletin 3.x only but by now some vbulletin 4.x use it and it works just fine, e.g. on gamesquad.com.
