It's actually not too hard to get to Rivendell as a freshly-rolled character these days - I made it there as a level 8 on Landroval by using the free horse whistle that new toons get. Still for company I'd recommend Khalis' kin, they've done a good job bringing in new players and characters to Rivendell.

That's a good tip. I may try to get there on my own. However, if I fail to make it I shall certainly call on Khalis' services! Thanks very much for the assistance.

That 1-hour token from the new-player gift box doesn't cause you to learn any new stable points, it just causes the the stable-master to not charge you for the next sixty minutes. The best use of that coin (that I can think of) is during festivals, if you're running the delivery quests for the Inn League or Ale Association, as that can cause you to use the stables a lot in a short period of time. The monetary savings of that token are almost worthless to a character fresh from the tutorial, however.

Keep in mind that any Captain of level 40 can summon you to his/her location if you ask them nicely, join their team, and happen to buy 5 Travel Rations!

Most of the road from Bree to Rivendell is safe to run, with only some parts of Trollshaws having roaming monsters to watch for. I've done the Rivendell run with character level less than 20, so it can be done. Having said that, I might also offer to protect people on run through the Trollshaws earlier that evening (assuming I am online on Wednesday - if I am, I will advertise it on globallff ).

And for those who don't mind spending TP, the Return to Rivendell skill is purchasable for 295 points and is now usable by all races. (According to http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Return_to_Rivendell that is.)

Saves a trait slot, too. And grinding...

I think I will just do the same as I did with the Codemasters forum: post a reminder every week in this thread. It wasn't a sticky there, so.. It worked! Why should it fail on this forum?

It worked well on the Codemasters Forum Cym so should work totally fine here i would say especially if people keep it on topic.

Would be nice to see people post their thoughts of the event from their characters perspective as well perhaps. For example what do the visiting menfolk think of the elves, or perhaps do the visiting hobbits for yes we do get the odd one think of the food?

The event is great so I guess in the end doesn't matters if its sticky or not... We didn't have one, not that we will miss it. Still would be nice to have one.

Just an FYI, Turbine no longer "stickies" threads, but recommends if you want something more permanent, to create a lorebook entry. The "reminder" should work fine though !

Glad to see that other races can attend... I keep meaning to sneak over and dip my feet in the Laurelin waters (as for what my toons would think, would depend on who I sneak over )

I'm trying to edit this lorebook entry that Harparelle made, but I'm a complete noob, so once its done, hmm maybe if we stick the entry in the the first post of Hof... I don't know I'm still truggling in stuff images in the article... (btw I'm copying all from Laurelin Archives).

I'll be keeping an eye on it, seeing if I can expand the info or whatnot.

I managed to make it to Rivendell on the second try today. I'm looking forward to joining in the gathering tomorrow. I'll be there on my character Indomelya.

So today, after reading this thread, i managed to bring my little Moranae lv 7 Hunter to Rivendell

I used the 1 hour free travel given with the starter box, i did :
- Celondim - Michel Delving - Ettermoors - Rivendell

and once there i was even able to make my home there.

Wednesday Weekly Hall of Fire Gathering of the Elves
It's on 'tonight'. Tonight, as in, tonight for Europeans. We usually start gathering at about .. well, no fixed time, just drop by right after dinner? (after lunch for the Americans). There's no real end time as well. I ususally stay around till bedtime

With this event we try to capture the mood of the Hall of Fire as it was described by Tolkien in the books. Bilbo working on his poem, elves all around engaged in meditation, song, poetry, dance, storytelling, random conversation. Please bring your story, poem, song and melody to the Hall, and let us enjoy your creativity!

Guests from other races are most welcome. Just remember this is elf territory. Most likely the elves around you speak Sindarin to eachother?

Dress to the occasion. On entering the valley you would most likely have received a guestroom or guesthouse. The valley is well protected, so leave your heavy armour and weapons in your (imaginary) guesthouse. Come dressed in your Best instead! Show off that fancy robe or magnificent dress! (ofcourse there's much leeway to the dress code. For example, a scout delivering some urgent message with great haste, fresh from his horse?)

Updated the Lorebook!

I'm afraid I will not be attending today. I have had some RL obligations crop up during that time. My elf, Harperiel, has made it to Rivendell though. She is currently residing in the Last Homely House waiting for the next Hall of Fire Wednesday.

I managed to make it to Lord Elrond's abode and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of many. I have been looking forward to any Elf-themed event and intend to partake of this one.

I popped around as Mithon, alas - it was quite overwhelming with all the emotes, and whatnot.

I did espie some ill words, and weapons even! Let it be known that the Lorebook Page has been updated. Even the high King of the Noldor would have to relinquish his weapon for this event

I had a lovely evening ...and guess what ? The place was full of ELVES...can you believe that? Lovely music and poems ...ok, the lack of pie is quite troublesome...but maybe next time I bring up some of mine from the Shire.

*makes a note in her diary to attend this event again sometime...'remember to bring pies'*

It was a lovely event. Jam-packed and lively. I enjoyed it very much.

Thank you all for a fine time in the Hall of Fire. I am looking forward to next week. Perhaps I will bring along a few songs to sing.
