I join this fun discussion a tad late, so here we go:
Clubbing as others said was a bannable thing in the codemasters era and these days we've got topics full of discussions about clubbing; I believe there is a 20-page long (?) topic in the PvMP section. It's a huge problem.
But why? Because it is indeed cheating the game, you are basically using the system on your advantage in a way others can't use it, since you need to multi-log or have a friend to do it. Yet, some people call the 1v1 area as something similar to clubbing, as you fight your friends as well, so why is this not clubbing? Lately I have seen some people going fairly easy on each other at the good TA, no matter what the reason behind this is, it is letting the other one have an advantage to win = similar to clubbing.
I'm not here to plea for the removal of good TA but the discussion is about when to club and when not to club... The answer is simple: never. And that is because it is always cheating and no matter for what reason it will still give you points.
Why don't you just play this game the way it is supposed to be? The low-ranked period is maybe a stressful time seeing you can get r10 in a few weeks, but it reminds me at least of the older days when it was really hard to rank up unless you had friends. But instead everyone wants to rush through these ranks like a train, for what cause... Spend 3k tp and you have the same effect as on rank 6, maybe you're even more effective...
I know some people from Element Zero think that it is okay, but if you think about it, you're cheating the game and you will later on regret what you have done, besides you are putting yourself and your kin in a bad light. Who wants to be in a kinship with clubbing officers?

I agree with you somewhat and some ppl are prolly exploiting the 1on1 area to some extent (tho usually when sparring friends I dont kill)
On the other hand when in 1on1 I often gimp myself to get some challenge out of it too. Whats the point in totaly &&&&&& someone at GTA, then I might aswell join the zerg. Atleast at GTA you will face resistance of some degree while clubbing is all about to cheat the game and your fellow players.
I don´t recall those times.
However, I do remember Speedy. and his 12WLs raids. His, ironically, QQ when he came back, very shortly, freep side in SoM, to be zerged by DTY's raid of which you were a sedulous member. And your ''capability'' to overtake him to get server first r11 WL...
Indeed, we still have people who try to pretend to be what they are not.
It was hard not to join when you were personally requested to join everytime you logged on, must have been my "capability" at the time. It was even good enough to draw you out on your burg a few times.
Did feel slightly dirty of me to ding out of the raid though. Needed those precious stats.

I had Spydo created on the account of Hydo, then I deleted it to create a new character in its slot. Someone stole the name and the name shown up in searches for Plauger/Reepz account for around 4-5months now. I was explaining this to Askgond/Gondo yesterday saying that when you click on the Spydo character it linked to the Spydo WL previously on Hydo's account which everybody knows I used regularly to speak in ooc, for some reason it no longer links back to my account now so maybe Plauger has deleted it.
Someone claims to me = must be me... Sound logic.
I remember telling Nokor about this months ago.

Well if it's a case of most buffs, Tren-4lines wins that one. But first to HIPs? Hydo has that one every time, the king of popping every CD he has, resetting them so he can do it all again and then man healing before calling in a fraid/running to a back door.
