The Last Alliance; A Kinship for those old enough to know better....
(Apologies for being a totally lazy git and copying this from our CM thread)
Do you remember the days before the interweb?
Do you remember when computators were things in science fiction comics?
Did you read Lord of the Rings, before the films, the games and even the radio adaptation?
Did your first computer game load from a C90 cassette tape?
Do you think the best use of a mobile phone is to make a telephone call?
Do you spell words properly and use punctuation?
Do you find yourself grumbling about stuff under your breath? All day? Every day?
Do you prefer to ignore the numbers when it comes to birthdays?
Do you struggle to understand the “L337 spk” of the “PUG”s you join?
You’re old…….. aren’t you?
Older than you care to admit?
Well, there is an answer!
Come and join The Last Alliance; a refuge for the more “mature” (in an age, if not mental, sense) gamer, sometimes known as “The Grumpy Old Gits”
(To paraphrase Mr David Gilmour */bows*; “We like to think we are getting Older and Wiser, when in fact we are just getting old….”)
We have been around since the year dot (and before). What is the current oldest rank for a kin? Well, that’s us!
We have a fully active community, (albeit slightly creaky and smelling faintly of wee, Listerine and Deep Heat), with 100+ grumbling, mumbling, moaning and groaning members with many 65'ers, and numerous other characters scattered at all levels across Middle Earth
We take our Zimmer frames, wheelchairs and walking sticks on many day trips to all sorts of exciting end-gamey places and also have a thriving bunch of young hearty adventurers willing to tackle the various threats of the starter areas too (well, it makes us feel really young - one can always dream) .
So;
if you would like to come and join us as we make our way through the countryside of Middle Earth,
and moan about the flies, the food and the lack of toilet facilities (well, I haven’t seen one, have you?),

Did Turbine finish building ramps for your wheelchairs already?
Welcome, SoDT, and all the other gits and gitesses! (Says you're a junior under your name, though?)
-- One man's clever sig is most likely another man's property - and you may quote me on that.

I guess that there is a Last Alliance kin on every server by now, because we aren't very original..

Aaaah, these modern technical thingies. It used to be good to just send letters in them olden days, but I suppose the pace of the game would be slightly slower if that would still be the norm.
Anyway, Fitzer reporting that he has succeeded to sneak over to the other side.

This thread is a little corner of stability in an ever-changing world, a bit like an old people home in fact
I know that our The Last Alliance was created before the game went in to Beta. The founder was informed by CM, via the forums, that he had a better chance of getting a Beta key if he had an established group of players ready for testing, and thus he founded The Last Alliance.

It took me a little longer then others to get here, after not really understanding what to do (why couldn't this be done by snail-mail? ). But here now.
Re: The Last Alliance; A Kinship for those old enough to know better....
A quick refresher for all after the long voyage.....
If any of our American friends don't know these.... just thank your lucky stars

I was given this link by my old dear friend Aeton. We go back a long way when he was young enough to have the energy to play on an American server. I was quite taken with your the post above describing the kin. After following this thread there is only one thing I can say -- WOW! Kindred spirits. Who knew?
So? Will I be the first American to apply to the kinship; An American living in America that is? I'll have to start a new toon, but was in the process of moving a lvl 65 to another server and will stop that and wait so she can move to Snowbourne. I'm usually free during the afternoons here on the East Coast so that will probably be perfect timing to be online with a group from GB.
I haven't been this excited about the game in a long time. Can't wait for the migrations to be complete so I can log in. Meanwhile, I'm off to visit nursing homes to find one that has internet connections for the residents

I think it is a sense of morbid curiosity; like peering through the window of the Old Folks home..
.. or maybe they feel that we would welcome a visit from some young boys and girls volunteering to do some odd jobs for us as part of a community service thingy...
*Waves stick* Clear off , the lot of yer.. I know you are after my pension money... Grrrrr!
