Sadly I couldn't make it this week. I longed for it, because I had such a good time last week.
Hopefully I will be able to join in next week again.

I hope we get our collected events thread reproduced here, that way it is easy to keep an eye on all the events.

And it needs to get stickied too!

Oh and well done guys, nice event.

The stickies aren't available, according to our Landrovalian friends. They haven't made a topic sticky in about a year.

The GDF, HoF, Bi-Weekly Wattle and Comb are all included in the Free People's Press under the Server Events section.

All we can do is keep replying to the thread (Not bumping as this is against the CoC).
This should keep it fresh and eyecatching for new users/players.

Lovely pictures Duissane, you certainly capture the atmosphere.
I am so sad that RL keeps me away from this evenings nowadays. Is no secret I adore this event and the regular hobbits that are present there.
Hopefully I will make it in the future. I know atleast Ksys would love to join! (I never have as much fun when I am able to RP my hobbit)

    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

I came eventually this Friday and must have came at the completely wrong time.

Was not the good hobbit time I had been given previously but filled with constant spamming of /flip from a member and I stayed for like ten minutes and left.

I know this is not the usual standard of role playing I have come to expect from the hobbit events so I will give this Friday another try as I know there is a lot of new role players joining us.

    See you Friday.

    AW: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

Ooh, Miss Hollybelle, what you saw was the hopping song. I guess that one can look pretty chaotic, in particular from a distance. *gives a chuckle* You see, for this one song, we all hop during the fast parts, and some of the younger and more energetic hobbits sometimes do backflips. But it only lasts for this one song, and is only done during the fast parts of the song (Miss Lina is always kind enough to put in some slow parts as well so we can catch our breath). It is quite a lot of fun to hop along and see who can reach highest, and to listen to Miss Lina's comments during the song. So please, do join us the next time, and I will do my best to see that no overzealous hobbits will land on your toes! *smiles and gives a friendly wave*

Ah I must have appeared at the wrong time and thought there was something in the beer.

Will not be with you this Friday though a friend who now lives in Germany is visiting but hope to be around soon on Miss Lilyrosa.

    Green Dragon Trivia (GDT)

To be updated with irregular intervals, the GDT will contain information about the "lore" surrounding Green Dragon Friday, which may (or may not) enhance your experience of the event. Things to look forward to include information about the various parts of the inn and recurring activities.

The trivia will also be added to the GDF lorebook.

Green Dragon Trivia no 1 - The Rug

Lying in front of the fireplace where most hobbits gather for news and entertainment, the rug is a source of some consternation among the regulars. Frequently used as an area for dancing, the rug is now old, dusty and more or less worn down. The locals claim the only reason it still holds together is all the sticky ale spilled on it over the years.

Whenever the innkeep Barmy closes the Dragon for renovations, the regulars silently hope for a new rug. Invariably, they end up disappointed.

Ah that rug! One of these fine nights a lore-master is going to sneak in and do an archaeological excavation of what's underneath it. And they could be in for some big surprises - was this, for example, the last resting place of a famously-stolen pony? Could a count of the food scraps swept under it provide an authoritative answer to the vexed question of the edibility of Jiro's pies? Are there clues to the riddle of the lost mathoms? Watch this space for more intriguing details of the Shire's favourite watering-hole .....

    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

This was the first Laurelin role-playing event I attended. I am a Laurelin player (starting a few months before the migration process to Turbine completed).

I have never laughed so much in a MMORP hosted event in my life.

The wit, quick posted comments really had me laughing until my sides split- I especially have to thank the hobbit with the pointy hat who served food to everyone too!

I attended with my greedy dwarf Disli and thereafter with my little Burglar Calanier- I said nothing at the event given that I am new here too! (I am far too shy )

To sum up... I was amazed at the quick witted comments which made me laugh out load and the friendly manner in which the hobbits said "hello" to everyone else who were ten foot taller than them.

I was, and continued to be enamoured, to the wonderful community which Laurelin has- my main character is yet to reach level 50 but I pop to Bree to help heal a peep or two in early quests, and I have always invariably found when I am in difficulty if another player is around they always help.

I cannot wait to attend the Elvish gathering in Rivendell too (I tried to run to Rivendell on Wednesday with my level 15 Smaragas but he died and respawned in Ered Luin!)

Finally, thank you to the incomparable Laurelin community- to say I enjoyed this event is an understatement!

Gotta love the Green Dragon events!
I was present with my Ksys, and I really enjoyed it from start to stop. Relaxing, fun, great people (hobbits) no boring moments.

Cousin Fumbles and I enjoyed our first Friday at the Green Dragon today! What a wonderful way to spend a few hours. The ale was strong, the pie delicious, and the company was absolutely wonderful!

Thank you all for making a pair of Buckland hobbits feel welcome. Definitely coming back.

Pie, pie and more pie! There was plenty to go around yesterday, along with dancing and song. I've been away from GDF for a while, but now I've come back I'm enjoying it as much as ever! Thanks to all the hobbits that make this event such a wonderful, funny, welcoming experience.

Green Dragon Trivia no 2 - The Story Chair

The sturdy-looking chair next to the fireplace and the dancing rug can look very inviting after a few ales and dances. Should you take your chance and slump into it, though, the locals may cheer and demand a story from you. And there will be no way out unless you tell one.

Traditionally the place where visitors took their seat if they wanted to regale the crowds with a story, lately the chair has seen less of this use, not least because most storytellers prefer the warmth of the fireplace nearby. The chair is also quite wobbly after a dwarf got his ample frame stuck in it one night and had to be pried out, once the hobbits grew tired of bringing ales to him. Because of this, a few of the regulars have taken to call it "the naughty chair" instead. Still, don't be surprised if an old hobbit snuggles into it and starts recounting dramatic tales of failed potato crops, how strawberries used to be much sweeter sixty years ago, and don't yer shush on me ye young rascal!

Some doubt has recently been cast on the authenticity of this chair. I have done some research - including some searching questions of Barmy - and I am in a position now to state that, despite having been repaired from time to time, specifically with four new legs, three new seats, and two new chairbacks, this is undoubtedly the original and authentic story chair.

A hobbit's work is never done, it seems. Here I am (I'm Sevelda, Slug-Squasher Extraordinaire!!) getting things ready for baking some pies before the start of the gathering at the Green Dragon Inn. I got drenched in the thunderstorm but I managed to get the blueberries ready!

That dwarf was back, but there was no wizard to confront this time. No ducks showed up either. I am disappointed two times over in that regard.

FIREWORKS! And they were set off on top of the roof this time, instead of under it! We're getting better!!!

That would make it a Green Dragon Breakfast!

It was great to see the Aussie-Hobbits attending and participating too. (Wait...there is a 5 o'clock in the morning too?)

Please, please, please share with us some of the Aussie folk tunes. There has been a thriving folk revival in the last few years (I think it said Melbourn in the article I read but it was about 6 months ago and I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday).
I for one would love to hear something "new" and maybe do a little .ABC trade.

I think we can do some business. I'm working pretty actively converting some .ABC's including some 'patriotic' songs for Mar Nu Falmar.

I'm going to try and smoothtalk Harbut into doing a duet with me for next Green Dragon. That is if I can wake the dopey bugger up.

    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

With apologies to all the other races, here are the Lyrics to the "Bounder Marching Tune" sung by Moxsie at the last Green Dragon. Its sung to the tune of Skedaddle (a US civil war tune), coming soon to a fatlute near you.
The Elves they live for years and years
They're tall as trees with pointy ears
Their songs are long and kind of sad
Like that one 'bout poor Gil Galad

They gripe about new fangled ways
Go on about the olden days
When life upon them starts to weigh
Then off they sail to havens grey

    But Hobbit folk are cheerful
    We're hardly ever sad
As long as we have beer-ful
    For every lass and lad

The Men of Bree are brave and bold
They fight for power and for gold
But really they're not very bright
Or would not be so keen to fight

Some men are bad and some are good
They often drink more than they should
As long as they stay off in Bree
Then we can get on Peaceably

    'cause Hobbit folk like drinkin'
Of ale and stout and beer
It helps us with our thinkin'
And keeps us in good cheer

The Dwarves they live deep underground
In deep, deep holes they can be found
They like it best within a cave
Where its to dark to try and shave

They're greedy when it comes to gold
No sense of humour I've been told
Its better not to share a joke
'bout where they keep their women folk

    Now, Hobbit folk are handsome
    We're always at our best
    We're clever strong and grand-some
    but mostly we're mod-est

Green Dragon Trivia no 3 - Barmy

The Green Dragon has always been well attended by the local hobbits, but Fridays were often on the calm side. Things improved considerably when the innkeeper, Barmy Rootknot, hired a lute player a few years back to bring the crowds in. Always a shrewd businessman, Barmy figured the increased ale sales would soon cover the musician's wages and then some. As always in matters of money, he was right.

The visitors like little more than to complain about Barmy, given his general stinginess. Recurring topics include the watering down of ales (not likely true), increased prices (very likely true), and the fact that he hasn't yet gone about to replace the worn-out rug near the fireplace in the entertainer's corner (absolutely true). Still, everyone comes back the next Friday anyway, because Barmy runs a solid establishment, serving up quality ales and a lively atmosphere. And no matter how your day has been, he's always there to greet you with a friendly smile and a foaming ale. Just make sure to pay your bill before leaving.

    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

I had so much fun yesterday, even though I didn't speak much (being shy, and fairly new to this much RP).

Cannot wait for the next one, as well as the concert happening on Sunday. Not sure if I'm going to go on hobbit, man, or elf.

Green Dragon Trivia no 4 - The other fireplace

There are two fireplaces in the Green Dragon. On Fridays, almost all hobbits meet at the fireplace near the entertainers and the dancing rug, and things can become very busy indeed.

The other fireplace only gathers a handful of locals, usually found muttering about all the noise from the other corner of the inn and how this never would have been accepted when THEY were young, whenever that was. Should things get too hectic and rowdy near the dancing rug, the other fireplace is a good place to bring a few friendly hobbits for a quick breather and some in-depth conversation. Bring your ales along and relax.

How long is this event on for? I may be able to make it for 9:00pm UK time?

Typically around two hours, from 8:00PM - 10:00PM UK time. Sometimes a bit shorter, sometimes a bit longer. See the first post in the thread for details.

Another wonderful evening!! Gotta love this Fridays!
Ohh I see my Ksys on one of the picuters in her worn dungarees and pink knittet scarf. (totally fail color-coordination-wise. hehe. But Ksys think she looks smashing!)
I see you all hopefully next Friday
