But I would like to see the Captain class open up to Hobbits, since right now you can only play one as a Man. I've said this before you have Constables and Shirriffs, so why not let Hobbits play the Captain class with Hobbit bannerguards since the race doesn't have access to a "pet" class as well, if you will.
But in the end either Captain or Champion would be appreciated.

Honestly, I'd like to see all classes opened up to every race. From a "lore" perspective... well... that pretty much went out the window with the introduction of runekeepers.
Even so, there's no reasonable explanation why hobbits cannot be champions while still appeasing the lore nazis.

not really, theres plenty of examples where you can see that words have power (gandalf at that camp in eregion anyone?)...but lets just agree to disagree and NOT open that can of worms here, eh?
My husband wants every race/class combo to be available, but the combos not currently available would be store purchase only. It would make a ton of money for the store and let people play exactly what they want. And somewhat satiate those who really want a new class for the xpac.
I don't necessarily agree with him, but he can't post this, so I'm doing it for him.

Agreed, when I think of Sam I think of the Captain class all together. His role was to uplift and in many ways carry Frodo. Even more so when they returned to the shire. But I don't see any problems with a hobbit champ as well.
For more comical reasons, I very much want to see hobbit LMs, but I don't want the staffs or bears to scale in size

the staffs probably would, i tried the same with a hobbit guardian and the 2h swords are the size of human 1h swords... no frodo with anduril
as for sam, i think of him more as a guardian, going by his attitude; his focus through the whole story was on helping and protecting frodo. i think aragorn is closer to a captain...he heals (aethelas), tanks (hes almost always in front, leading), etc. and he leads the fellowship through their journey. he also gets theodens morale back up at the battle of helms deep, and then that inspirational speech in front of the black gate

No arguments... but I'm thinking more of Sam on the return to the Shire. Its been too long since I've read, but didn't Sam lead the recapturing of the Shire? That is where I get him being a captain the most, that and constantly lifting up Frodo and helping with his burden. He often provided courage and strength through his words, which I guess could be mini, but I always thought of that as buffs. Plus, he was the one in front wanting to take down aragorn when they thought he was harming Frodo...

This would, IMO be a poor way (and quite honestly, bordering on disgusting greediness) to do this, but I will be honest enough to say, this would make me use TP.

I like that there are limits to race and class combinations. However, if they were to go with the above idea I'd then like to see an option to change your race or class. I have no intentions of starting a new server and already have my "one of each class" started and most of them are my kindred guild crafters. I expect it would be an expensive store purchase, but at least offer it for cheap for the first week or something. That'd be a huge money maker as a combination with the above idea.

We used to have the same size swords as men but they nerfed us and gave us mini two-handers Boo. We used to look like we were running around with flagpoles haha. I liked it personally.
The Champion trainer in the Last Homely House is a Hobbit... and to my mind Pippin was most definitely a Champion.
As far as kicking Sharkey's men out of the Shire goes, I felt that the Leader was Merry. He, and Farmer Cotton were really the General & Aide de Camp of the Hobbitry-in-arms. Tom Cotton, or course could be considered a Captain in his own right.
What class do you think Bullroarer would have been? Possibly an OP Guard... more likely a Champion to my mind... although he was the Thain of the Shire, so Captain might have made sense.
On the topic of Lore Masters, I was thinking about Farmer Maggot. No really! When talking about Maggot, Merry says that the good farmer seems to know a great many odd things. He walks the paths of the Old Forest, probably hobnobs with Bombadil, he deceived the Black Riders, and was well known for his animal companions.
I might be wrong, but despite Frodo being the Ring Bearer, no one really seems to be a huge Frodo Fan-boy (the love seems to go to Samwise, who pretty much carried the Quest to my mind). Having said that, from a certain perspective, Frodo could be thought of as a Captain, with Samwise filling the role as his Herald.
I'm pretty sure Sam and Frodo would have been quite flummoxed to think that in an alternate reality, there would be people sitting at computers arguing about which class a hobbit should be .... quite flummoxed I'd say......
im not here to troll or smth but i think hobbits should go back to shire and eat and drink nothing more._.
ok i know..i said i knooow that frodo saved the day etc,i congratz him brave blah blah blah but no...champions...omg cant imagine
[Tangaar Captain R7][Barukhazad Minstrel R9] In M.U.G.E.N there is NO magic button
It's more realistic if Hobbits could play any class except Lore-master.
I mean, if a hobbit wanna try out and fight heavy armoured and in close combat sure but then i would prefer they added so that a hobbit has less might than Men, elfs and dwards when they start out (More than 30). But for example, hobbits would have more agility because they're smaller.
This may sound unfair but i would like it more realistic.

Why not Lore Master? I would love a Hobit Lore master! OMG the though of a Hobbit Lore Master who could ride his bear instead of needing a pony, oh yeah!
First my excuses for my English evil between in this post for which it interests me very much I go many years defending all the classes for the race hobbit
I am of the server evernight and my main is a hobbit guardian rank 13 of etten way of rank 14, I take from the thread with this player and demostre that can be guardians, take many enemies as this but also many friends.. On if they can be champion the round one if, alone it is necessary to see that he was Merry in the battle was taking heavy armor and he behaves as a champion clearly like him in the book and one sees in the movie .sobre the lore hobbit is my major illusion and all my server knows it is mas in another game I have a magician hobbit, and that mas right that of describing Frodo as a scholar between the hobbits, is a discriminatory situation for this race I take in lotro from the thread am Life never leave and I am of the high rank mas of the pvp in my server. ask all the players of lotro be from the server that is that they help us to that we want all the classes for this race is a request of help to end with an unjust fact
The only reason hobbits can play guardians is that so each race has the holy trinity - minnie, hunter, and guard. The existence of heavy-armor-wearing hobbit guardians is as lorebreaking as the existence of runekeepers, and is a ridiculous thought only topped by the ridiculousness of a hobbit LM (seeing as hobbits aren't very up-to-date on lore) or a hobbit champ (berserker hobbit? Really, guys?).
Check out my blog! Kinda inactive, but there's some good stuff on RP in there. Anti-lore RPers, check it out for raegtiems.
Honestly, Samwise wasn't much of a Guardian. I wouldn't exactly put him at Captain but he certainly was somewhat of a Champ. However, he fought without armor. It was Frodo who had the Mithril set and that could be classified as medium/light with heavy mitigation and a great AR.
The classes in this game are more about the traditional MMO/RPG roles than they are about following the Lore of the story. While playing the Lute or harp is uplifting, Luthien Tinuviel wasn't healing her group on a raid or raising fallen comrades with it. Haldir didn't have to execute several silly gambits before he could land the blow he wanted or defend himself adequately. Samwise didn't wear heavy armor but was indeed a decent scrapper ... while Pippin actually wore some decent armor and actually had a title. Stryder fit somewhere in between a Captain, a Hunter, a Champ AND a Guard but wasn't really any of those. Boromir was decent Captain, especially when he blew his horn and everyone ran faster *smirk*. Gandalf didn't wander around with Sabertooth cats and Spirit Bears. Did Celebrimbor call forth Healing Runes and blast enemies with lighting bolts from the sky? My favorite is when Bilbo would disappear from sight and stab people suddenly. If Legolas could port his team all around Middle Earth, the story would have been a lot quicker.
So, while most of us would like to see some lore adhered to, it's obvious that LORE with regard to character in this game is pretty much just a pretense. Rune Keeps didn't break the lore ... every class breaks lore. As far as Hobbits and every race opening up ... I don't know how I feel about that. I like that people are forced out of their comfort zones to try another race and we don't have all Dorfs or Elves running around. Hobbits would be the least likely to pick up an adventuring career of any type. Bilbo and Frodo were exceptions to the rule ... but here I am talking about lore again.
The two classes that make sense to open up to most races are the Captain and the Champ. So, while I disagree that races need more options, I do think that there is at least some basis for opening these two classes up to the rest of the races. I can see Elf Captains and Dwarf Captains. Possibly even Hobbit Captains ... I just have a problem with the idea of a thousand Hobbit Captains running around. As far as Champs ... yeah I don't see why Hobbits can't be champs. Samwise falls into that role far better than the Guardian.
Looks like the signatures are broken ... All of my craft skills are maxed.
Hobbits wouldnt make good champions 1. Not very warlike just live in peace 2. Not very adventurous hates adventure 3. The only thing a hobbit can beat is spiders and wolves paying no attention to men (Big Folk as they call em) they dont of the outside world only within the Shire. And 4. Hobbits love food hobbits wouldnt make good champions if all they think about is their meals.
Not before the fourth age!, Hobbit champion sounds like a little far-fetched if you asked me.
Because I think Hobbits are non-combative by nature, I can imagine every class for hobbit except Champion because hobbits are laid back and champions are just straight forward damage warriors.
