Well, they didn't kick me out at the last one. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say 'yes'.

Anyone who wants to hang out and enjoy themselves is welcome at the social (though we do prefer trolls to stay home). We have fun...and sometimes get drunk, like what happened tonight. Not to mention the fight. With the bear. And ent. At least no chickens got involved (while I was there, anyway)...

The Social for August 20th will be at Tom Bombadil's house. 9pm EST/Server Time

The SNS for 8/27/11 will be held at the Combe Lumber Camp (a benefit event for a wounded lumberjack).

The early afternoon sun poured over Calanthia's shoulders as she scanned the noticeboard. At first, nothing in particular stuck out -- the board was filled with the usual housing advertisements, firework sales, notices of debts and town meetings, and other such routine communications.

As she turned away with a sigh of boredom, one brightly-colored flyer caught her eye.

Saturday Eve Social? Wha's this all abou', then?

Reading further, she made a mental note of the time and place, then turned back to the river with renewed energy.

The Social for 10/29/11 will be at the campfire by the Party Tree, on The Hill. Hobbiton, The Shire.

This week (11/05/11) it will be atop The Hill, above the Party Tree in Hobbiton.

Same place the halfling Pie Eating Race was last festival.

The Social for the 12th will be at the Comb and Wattle Inn.

The social was great this weekend - had much fun despite the Inn having such terrible food I'll try to remember to bring pie next time...

I enjoyed the Social, especially that there were no spammers. Hopefully we can have it in another place were there are no emote spammers next week.

Suggestions are always welcome.

The Marauders have decided to come up with a permanent location for the Social. We are taking suggestions on that as well.

I think that lore-wise, the Hall of Fire works well. It's also large enough to host everyone, and while some might argue that low-levels won't make it, there are several ways to get low levels there (including, as CoA can attest to, running them there directly to get the milestone \o/) It's also less likely to have trolls.

I think the Hall of Fire is a nice place too. Compared to a place such as the Prancing Pony, it would have less traffic from non-rpers. From my experience not too many people enter the Hall of Fire.

There are other out of the way places that are easier to access.

We like the Hall of Fire (even though it seems awfully formal) but are there any other places you can think of?


P.S. Thanks for the help brainstorming this idea. Feedback has shown that a permanent location is more desirable and we want to implement that.

Just as an example, up in the Brandy Hills in NW Breeland is a good place. Nobody ever really wanders there but it is accessible for low levels and the scenery is magnificent. One of my personal favorite places, with ruins and such for performances, only problem is that we would have to gather in a certain place not sure how we would arrange that. Just a little idea from me anything like that I think would work great!

Tinnudir by Lake Evedim Could be a great place to Have the SNS and if any RPers need a way there my Hunter can port em there.

The Fall Festival has returned for a bonus weekend.

We will hold the Social on The Hill (Hobbiton-Bywater Festival Grounds) at the campfire.

This was my first Saturday Night Social, I really enjoyed it. I was the lowbie, slightly drunk Gondorian Champion, if that sparks anyone's memory. I hope to attend more.

The place was packed last night... huuuge turnout :O

There were so many people talking at once that it was hard to follow any sort of conversation :S

My suggestion- if it's going to be this crowded in the future:

either split the groups up, have some outside and some inside if it's going to be in a tavern

Or run the event Landy style with a MC and some degree of organization

Because frankly, it was a mess trying to understand what was going on Q_Q

I am currently waiting for something to come to fruition that I have wanted to do for a while here. I am about 2 weeks out of having my very own Inn and Tavern (a converted kin hall, if you please) and would very much like to offer it up for RP purposes, and even perhaps for a few Sat. night social gatherings as well.

I do plan on having a grand opening party once it's ready (with free drinks and pipeweed, and even perhaps an impromptu fireworks show and music as well) and will post here the location and when I hope to do that, and everyone will be invited to come and enjoy the festivities!

Once it gets closer, I will post the location (it will be in the Bree-land homesteads, that much is sure) and I hope that we may even have a Captain or two on hand to help folks with porting in, provided they are well provisioned for the journey!

I hope that others like this idea, and will want to stop by and visit!

Sounds interesting... does anyone know of any other 'player created' taverns or inns out there? I know of two others (the Rising Force's prestigious tavern - possibly the first one on the server? and The Fiddle, which, RP-wise I think is still burned down but I'm not sure....). It would be nice to have a list of all of the 'player-created' RP areas on this server...
