Before we get into details, let's start with a question I often get, "Hobbitual is a "Hardcore" Raiding kin right?" By most gamer's definition, no we are not Hardcore. We raid 3 nights a week. We are consistently successful at what we do and most importantly have fun while doing it! We do expect people to take an "every little bit helps" attitude towards raiding, we also expect hunters to cleanse poison debuffs during raids, and things of that nature.
We do not have a set group of core members for raiding, we do a really good job of rotating everyone through raids. We do work class synergy for specific fights, so there are times we take one class over another based on that, but all active members see action every other raid!
We use a DKP point system where you earn points in specified groups and raids and can use it to bid on certain drops via a silent auction. As a new member of our kin, you can expect to be able to win desirable raid items in a few (2-4) short runs, in some cases even your first raid, group items vary but many first runs with Hobbitual have netted players items they were unable to get previously. To put things in perspective, the average DKP of currently ACTIVE members is only around 17.
Hobbitual was founded the day of release in 2007 open Beta, making us one of the oldest kins on record. We have many achievements that set us apart from other groups. This includes:
- Thorog 1.0 - game first kill
- Thorog 2.0 & 3.0 - server first kill
- Thrang - server first kill
- Thaurlach - server first kill
- Watcher 1.0 & 2.0 - server first kill
- Killed the LT on 3 August 2010 - the first full-kin kill on server, second group on server to kill him.
- Ost Dunhoth - Mammoth's T2 Challenge (Wound), Dourbark & Baleleaf T2 Challenge (Disease), Frothmar T2 Challenge (Poison), Ivar T2 Challenge, Gortheron T2 Challenge all completed - server second kill on all T2 Challenge bosses.
- Draigoch the Red T2 Challenge Completed
Recruiting: Hobbitual maintains a small yet highly active roster. We tend to recruit on an as needed basis. To become a member of Hobbitual please apply at our website by using the Apply Link provided on the home page. After applying, an officer will contact you through in-game mail and let you know the status of your application. Approved prospects will be invited to group with our members so we can get to know you. Prospects are welcome to contact members in game, however try not to harass. The prospect period generally lasts 2-4 weeks, during this time your skill, knowledge, and personally may be judged to determine if we feel you are compatible with Hobbitual. Once your prospect period ends, if approved, you will be invited to join Hobbitual. Recruit status is a probationary period where your skills and attitude will be monitored prior to being made a full member.
Raiding: Current raid times are 8:30pm EST to 11:30pm EST. Raid days and times are subject to change. Currently we raid every Thursday, Sunday and Tuesday. Other days of the week have been scheduled for raids, but not often.

*We typically do not raid on Friday and Saturday to allow our members time to spend with family and loved ones.
DKP: We currently use a Dragon Kill Point system. Participating in specific raid and group encounters will reward you with DKP points, those points are in turn used to bid on items.
Ventrillo: All members are highly encouraged to use vent, it is also required during all raids.

One of the great things about this kinship is maturity. You never see these guys and gals spouting off at the mouth or trolling. Their vent channel is very civil and decent. There's no shouting or pouting, no anger or tantrums being thrown about. It's nice to log on and have a relaxing raid where everyone tries their best to bring their A game, but nobody throws a fit even when things fall to pieces - always nice to see a kin flat-line on the drama scale!
