Thread: Signature not updating crafting

This has been an issue for over a year. If they have not done anything in that time, I would assume they do not plan to. What I really don't understand is keeping that feature on the forums when it is broken. It really makes the games support look bad to a new player.

The shame is that they forbid you to use images or content from the game or forums if you create your own sig, but the one they provide is broken.

I'm simply gonna create my own sig.

Too bad you can't use your own images in sigs.

You know, the Character Panel does not show your equipment any more either. Why have slots showing for equipment if they don't show your gear?

Anyone notice they reduced what you can have for your sig?

No more than 200 Characters WITH BB Code (so the character sigs they provide will eat up some of that 200 char limit) and 3 lines of text, I cant update my sig anymore because its either too many lines or characters =(

My crafting did never update EVER.

Hmm, well, if my memory serves, wasn't there an issue with the forum's security that took them down for an extended time and wasn't there a change such that you had to use your actual game login when you want to post to the forums instead of a forum only username and password?

Years ago Turbine rolled out web site 2.0 including a new forum. Part of the roll out was the creation of a "Global User ID" which we were required to use to access all services like MyLotro, MyAccount, Forums and the game. The global user id is your Turbine account name and password.

This change is new. (Nominally around the time of Update 7 -- May 2012). The "edit signature" page was reduced in size so that the "3 lines" restriction occurs even with sigs which are significantly less than the 200 characters.

The crafting "update" has been broken since the release of RoI in September of 2011. data.lotro.com, and hence my.lotro.com and the signatures, do not recognize the existence of T7 - Westfold Crafting. The data is either wrong or not there. (I'm a Westfold Master Craftsman across all professions, but they are only indicated as level 6 instead of 7.)

Similarly, there are still issues with (I believe) the old European accounts updating at all. North American accounts appear to update correctly and normally (24-hour delay) up to a point.

Both of these issues trace back to the content in data.loto.com -- it has apparently NOT been "updated" since ROI. That is why the character sheets at my.lotro.com do not reflect all (any?) post-RoI items. Interestingly, the last release of the Lotro Herald app for the iPhone DOES have item images for some, but not all, those same items. The Herald collects information from the Lorebook AND data.lotro.com.

Both the Signature panels and my.lotro.com apparently only collect information from "the public API" interface to data.lotro.com, while the Lorebook appears to have access to a "private API."

Various queries to data.lotro.com have returned a "forbidden" error -- which is a permissions error (not a "not found" error)-- since the RoI beta.

One can speculate that data.lotro.com was "an extraction" made prior to the RoI release and that certain internal "programs or processes" update its content "correctly," but not all programs and processes.

One can speculate as to what is actually happening -- and there are multiple possibilities, but "hopefully" all of the "Engineering Changes" necessary to support the 6th bag will result in "fixes" to data.lotro.com with the RoR release.

... We can only hope.

I guess I'll add my "Me too!" post... I'm actually a level 23 loremaster with 6/5 cook, 2/3(ish) jeweller, and 3/? prospector. I don't know if my level not updating has been documented or not, but here's my addition to the massive amount of complaints!

Apparently the Brandywine update Daemon is dead. No ETA on the delivery of a replacement Daemon.

From the behavior of the web site, it appears there is a update Daemon for each content area and server. There is leader board Daemon for Brandywine. There is a character Daemon for Brandywine. Not only do you have cases one entire area shuts down like all the leader boards. You have situations where only one area on one server is down.

All I can suggest is for affected customers like the folks on Brandywine to continue pointing at the dead Daemon. Can we get this thing hauled away. It is starting to stink. Once you get the mess cleaned up. Please - Can we have a new hard working Daemon.

Sheherezi is Westfold Master Cook and Westfold Master Farmer for a few weeks now, but neither one is showing up. Refreshing the sig img (pulling it out of the sig and re-entering it) didn't help.


Then again... I still have that other problem where my blog is screwed up and things like that. I've never seen a solution offered for that either, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Sorry to burst your bubble. I also pointed out (in other threads) that continuing to ignore the customers would result in said customers going away. I stopped playing (and paying) a year ago and pop back in to see if they ever addressed ANY of the concerns/broken things/etc. Haven't found a single thing fixed, but of course, many more things broken. Sigh.

Glad I searched for this. Was starting to get frustrated.

Mine isn't updated too.

add me to the "bad signature" issue

they havent fix the memory leaks so they arent gonna fix this small issue. I want to see the client working correctly

Same problem here, except its the entire signature. It hasn't updated once since I created the sig.

crafting never updated and the level is still 24 while im now 30...
i hope it gets fixed soon so i'll be able to do the level 30 lottery

Same issue with no craft section display.

turbine for God sake plz repari this, its have been over 20 days for 4-5 servers without update!
i thought u cant screw everything but ur going good way to do it

Same problem here. The crafting vocation advancement does not even appear in the quest log

I come to the conclusion that the crafting part of the signature is a discontinued feature. Nobody has an 8. Nobody has a 7. Tier 7 came with Rise of Isengard in September, 2011 months after the crafting updates signatures stopped working.

I do want to say thanks for the fix, the lvl updates immediately it seems.

If this is true, it would explain why for in my case because i'm a new player I have no information even shown for crafting yet.

You have the default starting crafting information which is none. All characters created since February, 2011 (or there abouts) will have no crafting information.

Bumping this, crafting level hasn't updated in years, good grief.

So is Turbine ever going to update this? I mean.. it completely eliminates the point of having these signatures if they don't work. They are great, so please complete them! =)

Looks like signature update is also buggy in itself, there is presumably supposed to be a 200 character cap on signatures, but the counting algorithm is buggy, such that I can't even preview my current sig because it thinks its >200 characters (only 193 by my count) . And now it also seems like even my old character image is hosed now too for some reason, this is recent, and I see several other people impacted by the same.

Look through Sapience's recent dev posts - all the community stuff is getting an overhaul soon (tm). Still, don't hold your breath for this to be fixed.

Glad I found this thread - was about to start a new one asking how to update the levels (so here's a bump for others that may have the same question)
