Thread: New item for the Turbine store.

I was thinking about this as a friend of mine just had his birthday. There should be birthday presents in the game, and the turbine store makes perfect sense for a place for it. They should be really cheap as they are likely to be little nothing presents. But make them like the Secret Admirer boxes that were coming out with festivals. So you can buy this little wrapped gift and send it to someone else! I would say it should be no more than 20 TP, and it would be better if it either scaled to the person openning it (so you aren't 45 and get a level 10 potion), or you could have different levels purchasable from the store. Anyways, just thought it would be an awesome little addition.

There are few mentions of birthday presents in the books.

(1) In the Shire, hobbits give presents to *other* people on their birthdays.

(2) Smeagol/Gollum claimed the Ring was his birthday present. I don't think you want to go there.

If Turbine were celebating people's birthdays with presents, what are they going to do about people with umpty-leven characters? Spam the mailbox with a present for each? Give a present to each of the bryding's* characters? Bestow a gift on each of the characters separately on the anniversary of the data of its creation?

I'd rather the Turbinites spent their time making more plot-related content.

Umm, dj... you completely missed the point.

He's suggesting that Turbine implement a 'Birthday Gift' store item that characters buy for other characters. Not that Turbine send characters birthday gifts.

It's an interesting idea. Of course, I'd rather they just come up with a container object we could use to mail multiple items at once - there would be no reason you couldn't just put one thing into it, after all. Make it available in a variety of appearances, from 'plain crate' all the way up to 'gold-leaf wrapping with silver ribbon'. Charge TP based on how much you can put into it, and of course it would be single-use.

Buy the box, put your stuff into it, mail it to your friend. Voila! Instant birthday present.

And if presents in the store how about a cake recipe that gives the party-er some kind of visual buff for a few minutes? I dont know what but something festive. Hand em out to friends and kin of the birthday person if you want to. I'm not much of a birthday party-er more of a party (insert your own word) but it would be fun for some.

In keeping with some of the Turbine 'prank gifts', a Birthday Notice that was an automatic fireworks display and a brief in-game 'Happy Birthday' shout. If possible (and I doubt it would be, but just sayin' here), make it so that it could only be 'found' in a mailbox in a public place, not in a House (individual or Kin) mailbox. Add in a 20 second aura, perhaps flashing red (like a wound) so everyone would know who the birthday celebrant was...

A 'friend' could buy these for their target - er, buddy...
