Thread: Returning after 3 Years: How do I find my characters?

I played the game when it first came out, but unsubbed about 3 years ago.

I've been going through all the servers but I can't seem to find my old characters.

Is there something I have to do to access them since they were previously subscriber characters?

At the top of the Forums, to the right side, is a tab My Characters. Go there and it should list, by server(s), your characters.

I don't seem to have that tab.

I have:

MyLotro, News, New Players, Forums, Lorebook, My Account, Help, and Download LOTRO

I am pretty certain I am logged onto my correct account, since in my account it says:

Signup Date
April 24, 2007

It also says I am premium, which I assume is because I bought the original game and was a subscriber.

I appreciate your help. Searching through all these worlds is tough since I have to shutdown the client completely each time.

Hmmm very weird; it sounds like you're missing 2 tabs; after Download LOTRO, there should be My Characters and My Kinships, and I'm not sure why. I too have a premium account (as well as this VIP one) and those tabs shows for me.

Edit: Ok, I just double checked and those tabs are showing on my Premium account. What you described is the screen I saw while logged off the forums (in between logging into the two accounts). You may need to refresh the screen after you logged in, to see them.

Just to add some info here, I have a My Characters tab, but no Kinships tab. I figure this is because I have characters on this account, but none of them are in a kin.

That would seem to be bad news if the OP has neither tab, but maybe it is possible the characters just are not registering. Maybe send a ticket in to Turbine if the refresh of the screen does not help.

One other idea...you may still be logged onto the wrong account for your LOTRO characters. Any chance you have a VIP DDO subscription on this same account? I know in the past it was easy to accidentally apply box codes and create a new subscription when you meant to upgrade a referral, so people had more than one LOTRO sub out there even though they only used one of them.

I finally found the right server through trial and error: Gladden

Man, that was painful having to login to server after server, completely exit out of the game, and then relogin to check another server.

Now that I've actually logged into one of my characters, I see the [My Characters] and [My Kinships] tabs.

I imagine the issue was that I hadn't logged into those characters for such a long time that they'd never triggered these new forum features.

Glad to help! Interesting info too! I'll keep that in mind for the next "haven't logged in in 3 years" post

The character are there if your using the same account. They may not be in My Characters if you have not used them in 3 years. Inactive characters are not always on that list. They will be on the server when you login to game, then in a couple hours they will re-appear on "My Characters"
