Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
I was also having troubles with this. I asked in /ooc chat to see if anyone else knew what was going on, they told me to just stand by an elk and wait a few seconds. I stood by all the elks for a minute each and nothing.

Theres a CERTAIN elk more north west of his house, u stand by it and just wait for like 10 seconds if that don't work then try walking around the elk, maybe you just aren't in the right angle.
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
Had the same problem. Had to have a GM come and bring out a wolf. They are supposed to spawn by the dead bodies of Elks though, there's one near the "strange object" if that helps.
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
It's not bugged. ಠ_ಠ
The carcasses are just decorations. They are not quest objects. They are just there as hints.
The wolves are in stealth. Traited hunters can track them directly. Everyone else just need to run around like headless chickens until you get a lucky roll on stealth detection.
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
Never used to be like this. Been doing the quest for almost 3 years. You kill the flies and such, then stand by that one obvious dead dear at the top of the fields. Wolf attacks, you kill it. Since when did Turbine make the stealth wolves wanderers instead of spawning right at the deer carcasses?
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
This quest has changed with the revamp to Evendim. The Oarbarton area is now considered to be part of the Evendim revamp. The quest is NOT broken.... it is just that here are many elk carcasses strewn about and it is NO longer the same one has is always HAD BEEN for this quest which goes waaaaaaay back to 2007 when it first orginally showed up. As the picture shows in the post by Tamiya that is where the elk carcass is and is the ONLY caracass where the wolf will show up. I have done this particular quest at least 6 times and 5 of those times where before the revamp and 1 on the revamp. It had me puzzled to because I well remember where it originally was and probably took me about 5- 10 minutes to figure out it had been moved.

I don't think that has changed. The wolves attacked you automatically you say?
I've only ever done this quest on over-levelled characters before the revamp, and I have to rely on stealth detection every time. I think the problem is that the wolves are grey to high level characters, so they won't attack.
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
I have a kinmate having this problem. Level 32 Minstrel. He's tried all of the carcasses for well over an hour and I went in with a 65 Champ and a 35 RK (separately, of course) to try to help him find it. We never saw the wolf at all. He's Spanish-speaking and doesn't feel comfortable with the bug process, but it sure seems bugged!
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
I did this quest twice a few weeks ago with no problem. As has been stated, you have to wander around a bit near the carcasses before the wolf appears. But it was fairly quick for me - I certainly didn't wait more than a few minutes.
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
Did this quest a few days ago and was having the same problems. I searched it up via the in-game help menu and found a comment someone posted about a deer carcass north (I think) of the NPC, near a tree. Sure enough that was the elk with a wolf. I wasn't counting, but I think there are 4 carcasses.
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
I looked on google, and a lotro wiki said the coordinates but they were for the wrong Elk carcass, as a result i was stumped for over an hour, finally i submitted a ticket asking if a GM could spawn the wolf. a GM contacted me within 3 minutes. told me i have been searching the wrong carcass, told me the right one is directly behind the farmer's home. then he teleported my character beside it, and the wolf appeared.
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
I had difficulty with this quest too. I found the wolf directly behind the quest NPC as well, though. It wasn't the carcass up the hill. I kept thinking it was that one and I was totally confused.
The spawn rate is fast too. As I came over to type this out I was attacked again. So best advice is just check all the deers (I found four). It should attack you almost immediately when you find the right one.

Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
cancled the quest because of the same problem mentioned and then started it again. Went to the elk and wolf after wolf attacked for half an hour. It was great easy XP and hides.
Re: FARMERS BANE in Oatbarton Broken for me, anyone else having trouble
Nothing with this quest is broken. I have done it lots of times and never had any trouble. You just have to serach for the Elk-corpses and stand near them. The Elk-corpse East of the quest giver has a wolf in "stealth" standing on it. Once you get near the Elk-corpse you aggro the wolf and kill it. As far as I remeber there are also other wolves around the fields who can be killed to complete the quest but this particular one is the easiest to find.
