Re: New Evendim Quest: Monuments of Angmar - Needs To Be Changed

The end of the quest chain with the npc you summon and who offer you quests gives you a helmet that completes the set that the wardens quartermaster trades for coins. I don't remember if monuments of angmar is one of his quests. This quest is doable solo as a pet class and can easily be done with two. As a captain you would tell your herald to attack the mobs by the monument, quickly switch targets to a distant mob, when herald pulls aggro send him after the distant mob, while mobs are chasing after him activate the monument.

This is a very useful technique for completing difficult quests.

Yes, the reward is the final piece of armor in the set:

    http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Item...Forgotten_Hope

"This item is a selectable reward for the quest [38] Monuments of Angmar."

I will try your suggestion using my herald or just get a lvl 75 to help me get the last piece.

    **Edit**
Me at lvl 41 and my friend at lvl 46 helped me to complete this quest and I finally got my 6th piece from the armor set!

I've been working on this quest on my level 40 warden. Very difficult. I managed to do Valtair somehow, because I gave the aggro to Orchalwe. But I can't get across the bridge to Tyl Annun and the last monument there. Any suggestions?

Based solely on my opinion, which is based on the fact that this was an existing area that was reworked, and I don't think they effected the precise result they intended....

I would recommend waiting a level or two, then..

What I do is wait for the pathing female Angmarim at the foot of the bridge to be far out of range, then plink my javelin at the one at the far right. You're guaranteed to pull two, and often 3 doing this. As a Warden, you can generally survive this via self-heals & leeches. Before you're done, you're likely to have gotten that Angmarim Priestess to return and jump in, but you have likely killed at LEAST one of the others, so again, other than limited power issues, you should be able to survive. From that point strongly consider dismissing Orchalwe and doing it yourself. But, stick like glue to one side or the other, and never move off the wall.. That should allow you manageable pulls to get past those next groups of two. Beyond that it's the patrolling gorothrogs(?sp), which you might want to resummon Orchalwe for..

That should get you going, I think..

You die crossing the bridge? A warden could stealth past the mobs at the beginning of the bridge or ride past them and run past the trolls until these reset. I have done this on lore master so should be cake for warden. Remember you don't have to go all the way across the bridge and deal with the large numbers of mobs on the other side, the monument is on the western path of the bridge so you just need to deal with the few mobs at the start of the bridge and the wandering trolls.

It's possible to just run (horse) across the bridge until the enemies, including the two trolls on the bridge, give up.

Then, instead of taking the staircase on the left, jump on top of the roof of the building before the staircase and go straight across and drop down to the ground. Go straight, behind the building to your frontleftish, and continue around it. It's then possible to get to where you can 'u'se the monument. And this is all without aggroing anyone. Then make the mad dash back across the bridge, or warp out.
A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are
I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war, but I must have won

These are great points, too.. I sheepishly, but wholeheartedly, admit that I often forget I can stealth as a Warden (I blame my altoholism). But, yeah, if you do this when both trolls are very near the other Angmarim at the beginning, that bridge IS long enough that you may be able to move out of aggro range and avoid all of them. But that doesn't seem very Warden-like.. lol

Thanks for all these suggestions! Hopefully one of them will work.

Though I have a stupid question: how does one dismiss Orchalwe? I couldn't figure it out. Probably because I never skirmish so I'm not used to the soldier concept.

As soon as you finish the quest and get the last monument then he'll have a gold ring over his head and you can get your awesome reward from him and then he disappears automatically.

To force dismiss him, right click on him and bring up the pet menu (select dismiss, of course)

Yeah, thanks, I figured it out. And I finished the quest. Running past the mobs on the bridge was really not that difficult at all, don't know why I didn't try it before.

Probably because it's the antithesis of typical "heroism?" lol It's a valid "technique," indeed, but I also rarely remember it's possible..

Re: New Evendim Quest: Monuments of Angmar - Needs To Be Changed

I just completed this quest alone (died three times though).

The quest is doable (I am a level 39 Warden. This is also my first character in LOTRO). I think a class with stealth ability has some advantage.

The hardest one is the monument next to the town (the middle left one on the map). There is no way to stealth past mobs (at least at level 39). So I just ran in and died behind the monument, revived, then click the monument.

The one that needs to across the bridge is actually quite easy. Just run across the bridge. Those mobs who chase you would go back. You only need to deal with one elite at the end of the bridge. After that, you turn left, jump into the lane to your right. Kill the elite that is sleeping on the ground. Then carefully across the road and hit the wall in order to approach the monument. You probably need to use stealth to reach behind the monument. Click it and you are done. Once again, probably because I am at level 39, it is impossible to stealth past mobs at the beginning of the bridge (guarded by 3 elites and one patrol).

Another one is bit tricky. That one is in the middle right. In stead of running into the platform that is heavily guarded by elites, you get on another platform (there is no elite to guard it), jump into the water and swim a bit to get to the ground. Pull the elite on the left and kill it (it is an archer, so you need to run back a bit to draw it out). Once you kill the mob, you can walk toward the monument with stealth (not really required as long as you are careful enough) and click it.

Because this is my first time to try this quest. It took me quite a while to complete it (was trying to plan ahead on the fly). Just be patient, get rid of the ally NPC, avoid meeting the mobs, and try to run along the wall as much as possible.

The rest of the monuments are easy.

Apology for my bad English (I am not a westerner).
