    Lost my White Trinket quest?

When Update 2 was applied, I had the Jeweller quest to make a white trinket and show it to Kobbi Stonestar at the Forsaken Inn. This quest was necessary to begin mastering Journeyman jeweller. After the update, the quest is not in my log any more. I have the recipe in my crafting panel, and the item description still says "Kobbi is waiting to see this piece when you make it", but Kobbi doesn't have the quest-in-progress symbol over his head. I didn't have the mold yet, so I went to get it off this guy named Barthr Dourhand (who used to drop it, from what I have read). Killed him three times, no drop.

My crafting experience will not advance [EDIT: I am referring to Journeyman only], and although I am proficient at Journeyman, I cannot get the yellow anvil for mastery to show up unless I complete the quest. There is no one around the crafting hall waiting to give me another quest, and Kobbi is strangely quiet.

What do I do now? I can never master the Expert level of Jewelling without mastering Journeyman, am I right?

You should not need to do that quest any more. Just level up your jeweller crafting by polishing gems and making regular jewelry. The next tier should unlock automatically when you have enough crafting experience. If you have already reached max experience for the first half of Journeyman jeweller and Artisan jeweller has not opened for you, try making a piece of jewelry or polishing a gem. Getting a little more crafting xp at that level might be all you need to do to trigger the next tier to unlock for you. If that does not unlock the next jeweller tier for you, submit a bug ticket, a GM should contact you about it.

I had something similar happen on one of my toons in woodworker craft. My character needed to go into the trollshaws and beat up an elite wood troll to get and item, use that to make a craft item and show the craft item to a woodworker NPC to unlock the next tier of woodworker. My toon was too low level to handle that quest and I'm not levelling that toon up very fast. My toon had maxed out the first half of the craft tier they were on before the update. After the game update went live I checked my toon and made an item at the level I was on, and the next tier of woodworker opened for me without doing any quest.

Well, that is a no-go: I made a few more Journeyman pieces, and a couple of Expert pieces, but still no yellow anvil. Then I noticed the Guildmaster standing there, so I checked him out, and joined the Jeweller's Guild. I still have to travel there and talk to them in person before I am officially in, and hopefully that will open up the mastery bar on my Journeyman.
I had forgot all about the guilds, and I don't remember if it was required with my woodworker in order to advance. I guess I will see, but I can't get up there until later tonight or tomorrow.

To go from Master to Superior you have to talk to the craft master trainer (not actually what he's called, but every craft hall has one.) Since they got rid of all the craft quests, that's probably what you have to do now. Since they put one in Enedwaith, I would imagine that's a good guess. So, look around you local craft area and check all the npc's that might have gold rings. All that happens is you get a quest to read a book that he has given you, you read it, then you are done. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Oh, just found this in another thread for a different craft. Though this is referring to getting access to superior facilities.

"There is still a single quest for each production profession to unlock the artisan tier and grant superior crafting station access. You can get this quest from the Master craftsman vendor NPC for your profession."

Re: Lost my White Trinket quest?

Having just gone through this as a jeweller this week, I know I had to open a help ticket, at which point the online support assigned me a new quest to replace the one I had lost. I had completed my expert level, unlocked my artisan, and simply needed the access to superior workbench to proceed. At first I was told that online support couldn't help with quest advice or helping to find a quest giver, but when I actually called the support line and spoke to someone, I was given all the help I needed. It was explained like this:

Crafting quests used to work like simple computer logic if/then process. If you hit a certain tier, then it unlocks the quest needed to move forward. However, when the update came out, the if/then parameters were reset. Where I was stuck (and so are you from the looks of things) is that you can't go back to not having completed your tier, so that you can re-complete it and trigger the new updated quest. In short, its a bug.

So, the advice I was given, and which I will also give you, is open a bug ticket, and send an online help request. When I did, within one hour, I had it resolved. Good luck, and I hope it works for you.

    Cheers

This may seem like an obvious question, but did you Master Apprentice? Until you do that, you can't open Mastery for Journeyman.

The old quests never opened Mastery - they simply 'finished' the tier you were on and opened up the next tier. Mastery has always been gated by completing the previous tier's Mastery.

Now that the quests are gone, you shouldn't have to do a quest to progress at all EXCEPT to get your Superior Facility access. There seems to be an issue with getting this quest if you completed the quest to finish off Tier 3 and didn't do the quest for the Superior Facility prior to the update - people can't seem to get the new quest for that - but that doesn't sound like the issue you're having.

I would try what people are suggesting here. If you've finished Apprentice Mastery and Journeyman Proficiency and still don't have a yellow anvil for Journeyman Mastery, try crafting one more Journeyman item. If that doesn't work, then yes, it looks like you have a bug.

I hope this helps, and good luck!

It is with great pleasure (and embarassment) that I announce my problem to be solved. I wasn't trying to sharpshoot anyone, and wasn't trying to stump the experts; it was more of a simple brain cramp.

Thank you all for your answers, but it's kind of hard to help someone who can't help himself. Senseo got it - I never mastered Apprentice. I remember several times thinking "wow, I need to grab a bunch of copper", and then forgetting it later. Then, when I was submitting this question, I was just glancing up and seeing both anvils on Apprentice level, without noticing that huge gold progress bar that still wasn't all the way full. I had been looking at it so long, I stopped really SEEING it.

So there it is. I still have lost the White Tree Trinket quest, but I grabbed some Copper, finished Apprentice off, and now am progressing as expected. Again, thanks to everyone who tried to help me. If the first response had just been something like: "Are you suuure?", I might have noticed my foolishness sooner, but I am still pleased that at least I can say that I discovered my error BEFORE reading Senseo's winning post.

My metalsmith had his superior access quest long before the update. He just couldn't complete it because the area where one of the quest items was in and the criiter the drop was on, was waaaaayyyyyy too high for him. After the update, the quest was gone and my metalsmith had access to the superior forge. That appears to be the same with your situation. Sadly, for those who did not have the superior access quest prior to the update, they have to apply for ingame help from a GM.

Now they will learn why they fear the night!

Actually the problem is when someone has completed the first part of the quest to open up the artisan tier but did not finish the second half to get the superior access. In those limited cases they could not trigger the new quest for the superior access and have to get the new quest from a GM.

Anyone who is now progressing along the line will trigger the superior access and eventually the few that got stuck will get unstuck and it will no longer be a problem.
