I definitely agree everything you added seems very useful and encourages kinships to raid and party together and do it all with much more organization. The additional kinship ranks would be very nice.

Let me be the 500th person to congratulate you on the ideas, presentation and thoroughness. Personally, I don't like ranks in a kin as motivation for participating or as a reward. My kin, Leaves of Laurelin, has two ranks, entry and full-fledged. We fortunately have had nearly no problems with people abusing their privileges so I imagine we will go on with our way of functioning even with your brilliant system in place.
And I do hope Turbine uses your ideas! Bravo!

Agreed the idea seems to be to enable as many additional tools as one can to teh kin leaders toolbox, it does not mean every feature must be used, rather, that each feature can be used to overall re-enforce each kinleaders preferd point of view.
I would like to add an additional suggestion, That a feature be created for players searching for a kin, Currently it is widly unknown on our server that to view online members who are not anonymous all you need to do is a filter search with teh kinships name involved.
I would suggest a user interface panel that allows for a player to select a search preference based on certain selectable peramiters, such as: Number of players, average level, Activity, Alliance, So on so forth. The user panel could also be used to identify who is an officer and who is a kinsmen/recruit, because teh current system does not support this unless you do an individual inspection.
A panel such as this could also be used to select a box that says your looking for a kin, that puts your name on a user database, that could be customized to your preferences, much like teh forums use a number system to rank teh importance of certain gameplay elements for each player/kinship to better fix players with kins they would find suiting.
I know its far fetched but part of revamping kinships could be taken as revamping the system in which players accesss certain kins.
i dunno im drunk, and its really late i may be way far off on this one.........

stuff like this should be standard in today's game. ( lack of creativity on the game maker's part is suppose )
daoc = dark age of camelot - has this stuff to a certain extend.
and its way older than this game is.

Well I'm feeling cynical today so sorry for this.
But if enough of us vip's decide to cancel our subscriptions and stop playing the game all together, with a good chunk of the f2p. I bet Turbine is going to get their A*R*S*E* moving to work on this, with a post that states.. hey hold on there, we are working on implementing it, don't leave.
sarcasm and cynicism apart, this idea merits to be place in the game in it's entirety. This Idea along might be enough to get them to win a second consecutive MMPORG of the year.

Magnificent thread! Yes to everything. and it is due time for changes
Kinships need to get some love, remember they are one of the reasons why people keep playing the game and come back. Especially guild quests will help give a sense of going in the same direction and achieving something together

Dude, fantastically done. I think Turbine needs to adopt this new Kinship and pay you an ??? load of money. The two best things that stand out in my mind are the increase in Kinship Ranks and Alliances. This is something that definitely needs to be implemented. I would love to be able to have an Alliance with another Kinship, have a separate chat so when you're looking for more people to go Raiding or whatnot to go into that chat and offer a proposal. Having more Ranks in a Kinship makes sense. There needs to be more incentive, since F2P, to have people in a Kinship stick around or have a larger role. Adding the ranks would make people want to stick around longer, take even more of an active role in helping the Kinship focus on it's goals or just helping other Kinship members. Again, I can't say how awesome you made everything look.

Excellent. looks like a blending of some of the successful groups I have seen in other games with some powerful additions of your own.
Kin House upgrades and Superior crafting tables would be nice as a reward for points as well as your deed and trait system. Not regular tables mind you since Turbine wants to keep the zones populated but the current Superior table system is extremely inconvenient.
Anyway, love your ideas. Hopefully the PTB are paying attention.

Better tools for organizing a kinship? Absolutely. Customizable ranks and permissions, and better scheduling tools are much needed and ought to already be there.
Kinship perks and special rewards? BAD IDEA. This takes emphasis from the individuals that make up the kin and puts it on the kin itself. It discourages working with people outside the kin. It punishes solo players.
Anyone else been watching WoW's new guild system at work?

One of the most devoted and contributed posts I've seen on the forums. And I solely agree with you. This new kinship you have developed would augment the social connection between players which therefore would make the system infinitely better! The idea of a new trait addition and alliances would bring each server to help each other and, well, be more friendly (not saying that they aren't friendly at the moment).

Galuhad you have outdone yourself! Your Kinship revamp ideas are spot on!
Changes to the Kinship feature of LotRO is well overdue. The GUI work and the system Galuhad has proposed IMO are those a very LARGE majority of LotRO players would support and be very happy to have implemented very soon in the game.
It would be purely grand if these changes could be part of the new expansion for Fall 2011!
Once again I commend you Galuhad on a job well done!

I just came across this post today and all I can say is WOW!!!!
This is absolutely a great idea I love everything I have see the OP posted. I hope Turbine takes a serious look at this and dedicates an entire update to this system it would be awesome.

I too am quite impressed with this proposal. I have always found the kinship system in this game very rudimentary compared to pretty much any other modern MMO, and these much needed changes would add another level of improvement on what is in many other aspects an excellent game.
I hope Turbine takes some of these suggestions into consideration.

You Good Player, are a Kinship God in my Eyes, I shall pray to you every time I look at the Pitiful state of the Kinship Matter.
Your ideas NEED to be in this game.

Simply wow! Turbine is cazy if they don't do something with the welldesigned ideas presented here.
Me, and many in my kin, were enthousiastic about it, and we want updated kinship features asap! Keep your players ingame, Turbine, work on kinships - they have been neglected too long.

Solid, well considered ideas...check.
Universality; clear benefit and value to kinships of differing goals, ages, sizes, and memberships....check.
Multiple tunable knobs to keep the system regression worthy from a balance perspective....check.
An extremely commendable job of presenting the idea in a clear, comprehensive manner...check.
Sufficient value from a consumer perspective to justify development costs via increased retention (hell, I'd pay a higher subscription to have it)...check.

The forums are not an accurate representation of the thoughts and feelings of the whole player base. Those who like a particular feature are in the game enjoying that feature. Those who don't like it log out to mention it on the forums. It is a relevant but biased source of feedback, and any claims of community desire should take this fact into account.

I have said it once and ill keep saying it untill this is implemented, this is an exelant proposal. its exactly what the game needs to put some life and purpus back in to being in a kinshiop. I am 110% for this and i hope to be reading it in some patch notes or expantion notes

Can a dev comment if there are currently any plans for a kinship revamp? Whether it's something being considered for Isengard, or a later update? It's such an important part of the game it would be nice to know there's something to look forward to.
