I think this all looks great and is long overdue. There will always be those out there that you simply cannot please, they can't help themselves. I especially like the custom ranks for kinships and the permissions for kinship chests. Very nicely done and everything looks very clean. I would like to think that Turbine would give this serious consideration.
Well, I am new to this forum and just came up with some ideas for the kinship "problem" which is kind of bugging me since I am in a guild. I wrote a few sites of proposals and wanted to post them. But now I see that someone already made much more than a few thoughts about that problem as i have and so I decided just to post my opinion...
Your proposal is great! I agree in every point and I must admit that it is long long overdue that the kinship system is improved.
Having some parts of analogy with other MMO s is really not the point here, even if it might be...
The point is that the guild system MUST be improved and I myself think it is astonishing that after this great Post nothing has happened ingame!
Never the less thanks for your great and inspiring work!!!
Not sure if this was mentioned, but perhaps there could be a reputation for the kin and you have to participate in kin quests or deeds, or just be in the kinship and do quests for a long enough time and when you do that, the rep tier unlocks personal trait slots, so people cant just join the kin and immediately earn the rewards, they have to personally work for them.
I just found this thread and since I am a guild-leader for over two years now, I feel inclined to post a few words, in aspiration that somebody from the Turbine-Team takes this whole thread seriously!
Please change the existing Guild-System and listen to the proposal given in this topic.
The quality of the game has improved in many parts, but in others, like kinship or housing, nothing changed at all since the game started five years ago! Obviously Turbine has time enogh to make beautyful optical changes to Bree but hasn´t found a single minute to make even minor changes, to an obsolete system, which is in dire need of improvements!
82,211 Views and 925 Replies. Please Turbine, do something about this... :D
Of course, it would have looked better if the replies matched the number of views in which case it may just gain some official notice. But seriously, how many people does it take to say this whole idea is great and long overdue before we see something done about it?
Looking through some recent posts here I noticed one person brought up the nice new revamp given to Bree which I agree looks great and respect goes out to the designers etc but in all honesty.. I didn't spot a thread in these forums with as many people requesting a revamp to Bree.
Hundreds of people here all believe that Kinships are becoming stale.. At the moment, the only thing I see that makes each kinship unique and individual is it's name. Other than that they are just a group of players, banding together under one name so they can gain access to a larger friends list with a private chat channel that allows them to communicate with each other.
So, I call out to everyone else who agrees with me to spread the word.. Let's get these 925 replies turned into 9,250 and maybe then someone at Turbine will give it some genuine, much needed attention. Promote this thread around your kins and get everyone on board.. http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...evamp-Proposal
Two simpliest things I can imagine is an additional rank and an officer mail. But what about for example placing a "kinship time" somehwre on kinship panel (even gmt for european kins would do)? We could set raids in "kinship time" that could everyone easily check, instead of endles counting. Or it could include countdown for events etc.
The first time i seen and read your post i was at the same time surprised, delighted and astonished...the looks of it are just beautiful...really a damn great job you shown us all there!
Sad to see there's nothing even a detail done that's any similar to your idea to this game in more then 2 years, since you posted the first time...is there any work actually being done over this during these 2 years?
There's really a lot of stuff Turbine could improve on this game, even things that might seem trivial at first glimp but they really end up being a great matter.
Every time I see this thread and decide to read it again it pains me.
Because every time it makes me realize how flawed the current kinship system is and how it could have been.
Galuhad, these are by far the best rewamp suggestions I've seen ever on these forums. I really think Turbine should listen to this. I also think you should apply for the LOTRO player council.. And that Turbine should accept you in there.

Galuhad, I had heard much about your Kinship Revamp Proposal, but this is the first time I've had a chance to look it over. Kudos, laurel wreaths, and the pie of your choice for all your hard work putting this proposal together.
And for not giving up with no response from Turbine lo these many years, the Light of Eärendil Award. Which I just made up, but is very richly deserved.
Any ideas on what could be done? You did so well with this proposal.
What would you personally do for a tribe revamp?
I don't PvMP so I couldn't do this justice even if I tried. It would need someone who's an expert in creep tribes to make that kind of suggestion.

Thanks, such a lovely compliment The decision of course, is up to Turbine.
I'm an officer in my Kin, but the problem is that there are only 4 ranks in the Kin which do not entirely classify them self from the other, e.g: officer and leader, ideally having the same tasks, Kinsman and non-kinsman, they are same. Social interaction within is not high due to the function of the Kin. I love the idea from OP to encourage Kin to work together to earn prizes.
One vote from me to make the suggestion becomes real
Hate to be the white elephant in the room but would creeps get a Tribe Revamp aswell?
I think both should. Perhaps the creepside tribes would be better of remaining a little more simple than the freepside kinships but why not revamp the tribes with a slightly less involved version of this?

As I mentioned earlier in the thread... This is an *awesome* idea.

Awesome idea and youre posting it again and again that is good to remind but can it really change if it will change new system you explain is really good but can it really change?? is it possible?
The only thing that gave me pause was that third screenshot. I don't think I'd even bother being in a kin where someone has, or would assume that much control over what I can do within the game. Too micro-managey.

I'm not certain what you're referring to here. I went back and looked at the screenshot in question and it has nothing to do with what you can or cannot do in the game, with the exception of what you can and cannot do within your kinship. And right now your kin leader already has the choice of limiting what you do within the kinhall, up to and including not allowing you to enter it. These controls are over who may speak in kinship officer chat (already there, as a function of whom is and is not made an officer), who may speak in kinship chat, who may access the kinhall chests (this even allows the leader to choose who may access each individual chest, which is a pretty nice feature) and a few other things that would be added with this proposal, if Turbine ever gives this proposal the time of day.
I don't feel like it's micro-management, my opinion is that it is leader controls along the same lines of controls that are on message boards as to who may do what, and other games have controls similar to these. I don't see why LOTRO kinship leaders shouldn't have more control over who may do what *within the kinship* (not game), meaning the kinhall, chests, contributions, etc.
And completely unrelated to this response: I'm curious as to why this thread didn't pass 1000 posts long ago? Everybody's slacking. If we really want this noticed, I think it'd take at least that much, if not more, for Turbine to really start thinking more seriously about it. If you look at the thread, and like this proposal, why not add your voice to support it?
This is a good suggestion! I agree with most of the things that you placed with detail i may add.
The only thing that i think might not work so well is the Alliance part, this will in my eyes work against being in a "kinship".
The only way i would see it work is, if its just for chatting or something.
Then i want to know if any one ever suggested to add a kinship crest in there aswell?
Cause that would make a kin ship even more personal to the members.
And maybe this crest can be added on the kin cosmetic ?
I absolutely love this idea, and Turbine should definitely go ahead with this. Superb, beautiful; it almost can't get any better than this.
However, I'm just wondering, would you have to take out the kinship slot in the social panel and just use a completely separate button for this, such as the button for crafting or house? I think that would be the best way to implement this.
Love the pictures, the approach; basically everything about this resonates with me. Don't give up hope; I would love for this to be the standard view for kinships! My favorite part though is the alliance system. I had a similar idea and I love the way you put it into words and pictures. Let's hope Turbine gets on this quickly!
It's really upsetting to see that two years later, not one of these proposals has been implemented by Turbine. Shame on them, absolute shame. Why even bother making an MMO if the social side is going to be completely neglected?
EDIT: If Turbine have been quietly working on a massive overhaul behind the scenes and are waiting to roll the entire thing out in one glorious update, then I take it all back. But it would be nice to hear if they actually have any commitments to improving the kin system.

It's a shame that this still has not been implemented in any way...
Considering that this is easily the best suggestion i have ever seen on this forum I simply cannot understand why Turbine is ignoring it. I guess they just don't care if it doesn't give them money.
Wonderful work - impressive each time I look at it. I do so wish Turbine would take these ideas and move forward with a Kinship revamp of this type. Very well done, Galuhad!
I am amazed that Turbine has yet to even consider this proposal. It would boost kin-life (and therefore the game experience) like nothing else before... but no, releasing buggy questpacks and expansions is apparently better for their business.
I'm not long on the forum yet, but i read a lot of suggestions and this one is one of the best I ever saw. I sincerely hope that Turbine will update the kin-system soon!
I think this thread deserves a sad song. Really.
This suggestion is so beyond Turbines abilities. You have a fan of this game that provides an idea that surpasses anything the devs of this game were able to provide us in these 6 years. He gave them everything and basically said: " everyone that seen this likes it, no negative feedback, put it in"
Will we get it? Cant say for sure. But most likely.......?
Well you can answer that for yourself.
