Thread: Didn't get crafting xp towards Mastery at Apprentice level?

I just started a new vocation (Explorer) with one of my alts. I collected 87 pieces of copper ore and 79 pieces of tin ore. I went ahead and smelted them [(86/2=43)] which totals to (43*8)=344 crafting points and [(78/2)=39] which totals to (39*8)=312 crafting points. This totals to 656 which should have allowed me to complete not only proficiency of the apprentice level but also the mastery of the apprentice level.

But since I didn't stop at the profiencey level of 200 pts, and start the quest which grants me my journeyman title, I didn't get credit for 456 points.

Whats up with that? Or what am I missing? I didn't think advancement of gathering professions was dependent on the quest???

Turbine changed the game. I believe it was September 2010 when F2P was launched. All professions were changed to work in the same way. Turbine added quests for forester, prospector and farmer.

Just when you thought you are getting a handle on how crafting advancement works. Guess what? Turbine will make more changes with the March 2011 update.

Remember the only thing that is constant with a living growing online game is CHANGE.

Yula is quite correct. Turbine changed it so that the gathering professions also need to complete a quest same as the producing professions did before. The change was made last September when F2P was introduced. And they will be making another major change to crafting in the next update (which should be later this month). All they did was make you stop between sections and read a book, no big deal.

As for the new changes, they actually made it easier by removing those level 40 quests that most crafter's had to find help doing because they were at that point by level 20. Nothing got worse with the actual leveling process.
