An evil presence on our Silverlode server - Beware!
There's a coward passing himself off as an alt of someone in your kin. He'll ask for an invite, loot your kinhouse, and leave the kin. Actually says in his bio that ths is what he does and lists his buddie's name that he does it with. Level 11 minnie last seen in Breetown. Not gonna list his name here because I'm sure that wouldn't fly. PM me if you would like to know the name.
And yeah we know, blah bah blah about letting someone in the kin, we got burned, were too trusting, it's a shame and nothing will probably be done about it, with f2p how could they really even police it and this is nothing new, just a reminder to all to beware.Last edited by Ghosttaker; Mar 04 2011 at 11:18 AM.

Re: An evil presence on our Silverlode server - Beware!
Well, make sure to report his 'buddies' and him to Turbine so they can remove the scum. Sorry you had a bad experience!
We limit our kinship house and bank access to officers only. Star Trek Online is a little more flexible in that you can have different tabs in the fleet bank accessible by different member levels (the equivalent of recruits, members, officers, etc.). That way, if a new person steals loot, it's not all the high-end stuff. It's also limited to one tab so they can't clean out everything. It would be nice to have this additional bank security in LOTRO, too.
However, we make it clear to all members that any item in the bank is available to them. They simply have to ask an officer for it, and we'll be glad to get it for them. That prevents wholesale theft and in addition allows officers and newer folks to get to know each other. That's an easy way to handle the situation without it being too limiting and encourages some socialization.

Re: An evil presence on our Silverlode server - Beware!
Sorry to hear this happend to your kin. It really is unforunate that somone would actually steal in this game. Kind of reminds of being out in the Moors and others stealing KB's. Well, yours is worse but just saying. Let me know if you guys need help replacing stuff.

Submission? Well that's a bit of a problem. See, rumor has it the Athenians have already turned you down, and if those philosophers and, uh, boy-lovers have found that kind of nerve, then, of course, Spartans have their reputation to consider.

Re: An evil presence on our Silverlode server - Beware!
He or one of his "friends" got us as well. Tried to blame another member of our kin for it. I tried to pass his name around to all the kin leaders that I knew when he did this. I suggest that you do the same since posting the name here will get you in trouble. Word of mouth in the game is probably the best way to deal with the situation.

Just a heads up this person has deleted his toon and I am sure he is rerolling. Just make sure that if you are inviting peoples alts they are really who they say they are before you promote them.

We have Daruk and he has the power of God on his side. With their power combined no evil dare set foot in our kin. I deem him worthy of taking on the mission of weeding out all the evil presences on this great server we call Silverlode. Through all our prayers and the power of the Lord almighty we'll banish this evil demon from our land. All praise to god who reigns above.

Re: An evil presence on our Silverlode server - Beware!
I'm really sorry to hear about this, Ghosttaker. I hope he didn't take anything irreplaceable. Have you contacted Turbine about possible recovery? This might actually count as some kind of 'hack.' If nothing else you should file a ticket if you haven't already. It's worth a shot, after all!
Regardless, thank you for the heads up. DTMF now has our permissions locked tighter than... something that is very difficult to rob. XD

Re: An evil presence on our Silverlode server - Beware!
I'm confused how you invited someone who had that info in their bio? Do you blindly invite people and then let them have access to your kin house chests?

Re: An evil presence on our Silverlode server - Beware!
He claimed to be one of our long time members alts. Because he had the name of the member the officer that invited did not look at the bio and promoted him right away thinking it was someone we knew and trusted. Some of my officers let me know that the kin house had been looted and it was simply good timing that I logged on the next day when the person was in our house again, I ported over started talking to him inspected him and found the bio, he knew he was caught and left the kin before I could boot him.

Re: An evil presence on our Silverlode server - Beware!
sorry to hear there are idiots like this around . no real surprise though , which is why it's always been my habit to ask anyone claiming to be an alt looking for an invite to log on their main and ask again . never had anyone complain

Thanx for the heads up...could happen again. Our kinship is kinda locked down for now anyways, but still good to know.

I've always asked on my main if I make an Alt. I just thought of it as common courtesy
