Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
Yes, the four additional slots you got with the MoM box were two for the expansion itself (which are permanent) and two for VIP (which you'll lose when dropping back to Premium). So you'll drop down to five slots unless you renew the VIP access. (If you have more than 5 characters on a server at that point, you'll get the choice of which ones to keep access to. Extra characters will be locked until you buy slots for them.)
It was already mentioned in the OP, but even if you hadn't gone premium with a TP purchase prior to getting the MoM box, buying that box is also a way of spending real money, so in that case you would have gone from 2 slots to 7 and then dropped back down to 5 after a month. The slot for Premium (and all the other Premium advantages) could also come from that purchase if you hadn't already had them.

Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
I have a question I haven't found the answer to, but it's probably stupid and that's why the answer isn't written anywhere.... ::laughs::
Anyway, if I have a Premium account and purchase the MoM expansion, do I also have to purchase SoA and apply that first or does the MoM box include SoA quests, deeds, etc..?
-

Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
The MoM box code gets you permanent access to Moria quests and deeds, the RK/Warden classes and 2 characters slots. It gets you a month of VIP, during which time you'll be able to access all SoA quests and deeds, but once that VIP time is up you will drop back to Premium and lose access to all SoA areas again (until you subscribe or purchase them with Turbine Points).

Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
SoA quests and deeds for Ered Luin, The Shire, Bree-land, and the Lone Lands are provided free to all.
Other SoA quests and deeds are provided free to current VIPs or are purchased a-la-carte by region by Premium (or F2P) players.
The only thing a purchase of an SoA box would get you is a month of VIP.
Edit: Curses, too slow! :P
-
May 26 2011 06:27 PM #46
Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
Neither the SoA box nor the MoM box give you lasting access to SoA content that isn't available F2P anyway. The SoA box is now only good for a month of VIP access. If you want to use it for that, though (since you might be able to get one cheaper than buying a month's VIP access directly), its code has to be entered prior to entering the MoM box code or buying the MoM expansion from the store. The SoA code cannot be used after getting the expansion.

Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
You dont' get immediate access to full posting rights on a free account; You can however, given enough time post on most forums in most places, all you need is time, you dont need to make the jump to premium. You start with full rights to post in the 'Free Players Assistance forum' and technical/account support; Shortly You'll be able to post in a server world. .. I dont know exactly what your problem was, but I know that I accidentally post from my purely free accounts once a month or so. I know players using a purely free account as their main forum presence just fine.

Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
Hello everybody
As this is my first post, I will introduce myself: I am Óscar, from Barcelona.
I find this thread very interesting, thank you very much to keep it updated.
Could someone explain what are the "guild advancement" restrictions in non-VIP accounts?
Currently I have a F2P account with a Lvl 34 Minstrel that has Acquaintance with the Tailor Guild and could purchase all their T3 expert recipes. Is this going to end soon?
Thank you!
Oscar

As the Guild account maybe account wide but I have 5 characters in 5 different guilds so I need to purchase the unlock 5 times. Meanwhile my guild patterns are taking up space in my storage

How about a Heat Seeking Arrow for the Hunter, specifically for Ettenmoors

So as not to clog things up elsewhere, and since the question is related..

What expansion pack's or Quests pack's would they need to get in order to have access to all realms/zones/areas etc?

What if I have a shutdown account (1 year +) and want to use that $99 1 year deal??
Can I reactivate that old account. The fine print doesnt mention that endcase and the posting I put on the Forum here has not been answered by a turbine employee

Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
Shutdown as in you stopped paying a subscription back when subscriptions were still required? Those accounts became Premium* accounts when the F2P system was implemented. You can upgrade to VIP and take advantage of the $99.99 per year deal the same way newer F2P or Premium players can. Go to https://myaccount.turbine.com and log in to your old account. Then you should be able to upgrade to VIP from there and select the $99.99 for 12-months payment plan.
* (Well, if you'd had a paid subscription before and/or had bought one of the box sets of the game, then your account became Premium when the F2P system was implemented. If you previously only had a free trial account and have never paid for the game, then your account become a F2P account. But in either case, your account should still exist and be upgradable.)

Hmm well that's strange. I had a free trial account before the Free-To-Play program launched, and at the time I had Rest XP, 5 bags, Destiny Points usage, etc.., but after the F2P, I log in to my account and on my characters I still have all 5 bags ^.^ Some loads of Rest XP all there for me.

That is strange, if you never paid for a subscription I didn't think you'd get all the ex-VIP perks. Makes sense you'd keep the Rest XP you'd collected, you just won't earn any more. But the bags is a surprise.
Might be best to be quiet about it and hope nobody notices.

Thank you, Cadd. Then I think that I will get both the Moria Quest Pack and the Mirkwood Quest pack, as I am at L49 right now.
Actually, I CAN find Mirkwood in the LOTRO Store, I meant that it was not in the list of the first page of this thread for the VIP account and it seemed weird to me. Thank you for the confirmation.

Re: What happens if... answers about the account types
Avaaescaner has a good point. It would probably be clearer if the the "...I subscribe and become a VIP" section above mentioned which areas are expansion content not included in a VIP subscription. The list saying that it includes "access to all quests, deeds, instances and skirmishes in North Downs, Evendim, Trollshaws, Misty Mountains, Angmar, Forochel, Eregion, Lothlorien and Enedwaith" doesn't give much indication of how much of the game that is — at least not to new players who aren't familiar with all the regions yet. The VIP section should say something like:
- does NOT include quests and deeds in expansion areas: Moria, Mirkwood, or (once it comes out) Isengard.
- does NOT include Warden or Rune-keeper classes.
