    Trophy Hunting Guide

Recently, I have started hunting and fishing for the different animal and fish trophies in the game in hopes of having a good collection for our new kinship when we reach rank 6 and buy our kinship house. Fishing trophy barter items drop a little differently than animal trophies and I did find an excellent guide for these at http://www.lotrofishing.com .

However, getting really good info on where specifically to hunt for the undamaged corpse barter items has been a bit more confusing and difficult. Some people seem to disagree on where these barter items drop or claim that they come off of not only the mobs that everyone agrees drops them, but also other mobs in other places. CSTM has a great pictorial guide to all of the animal trophies here http://www.casualstrolltomordor.com/...imal-trophies/, but again some posters on these forums seem to disagree with the locations posted in this guide.

My goal with this post is to get more experienced trophy hunters than myself (having started playing in October and being only level 35) to chime in on where they have acquired their trophies, off of what type of mob, and where their favorite places to hunt for this type of trophy are. I will start off with the two I have already acquired, some info that I have gleaned from CSTM's guide and other posts, and then update this original post as others chime in. Thanks!

    Undamaged Black Bear Corpse
    Drops off of: "Barkshredder" Bears
    Level of mobs: 18
Location: Supposedly all bears in the Old Forest in Breeland
Best Specific Location to hunt: Withywindle Crossing. The density of mobs in this area is fantastic and makes acquiring this trophy much easier.

    Undamaged Barghest Corpse
    Drops off of: Various barghests
Level of mobs: About level 25
Location: Fields of Fornost in the North Downs
Best Specific Location to hunt: The southern and eastern sections of the Fields of Fornost. I was not able to find any specific area that had a great density of barghests, so you will have to run around a bit for this one.

    Undamaged Brown Bear Corpse
Drops off of: Field Bear and Hungry Downs Bears
    Level of mobs: 26
Location: I would like more confirmation from others, but supposedly any bear in the North Downs can drop this trophy.
Best Specific Location to hunt: Fields of Fornost has some density, but not great. This trophy can also drop off of the Hungry Downs bears south of Othrikar. Others have apparently hunted the Hungry Downs bears near Esteldin with some success.

    Undamaged Cave-Troll Head
    Drops off of: ???
    Level of mobs: ???
Location: CSTM's trophy guide lists this as dropping off of trolls in Goblin Town in the Misty Mountains
Best Specific Location to hunt: ???

    Undamaged Frost-antler Head
    Drops off of: ???
    Level of mobs: ???
Location: CSTM's trophy guide lists this as dropping off of Frost Antlers in Taur Orthon and Ita-ma in Forochel
Best Specific Location to hunt: ???

    Undamaged Sabre-tooth Corpse
    Drops off of: Kalpa-Kita
    Level of mobs: 45-46
    Location: Forochel
Best Specific Location to hunt: Leijona-Kotin, Itä-ma
Note: Quick respawn rate, about 20-30 Kalpa-Kita in total in this area and they respawn before you've cleared it all.

    Undamaged Tundra Bear Corpse
    Drops off of: ???
    Level of mobs: ???
Location: CSTM's trophy guide lists this as dropping off of Tundra Bears Lansi-Ma and Ja-Rannit in Forochel
Best Specific Location to hunt: ???

    Undamaged Warg Corpse
Drops off of: Ravenous Twilight Howler
    Level of mobs: ???
Location: It appears that several posts and CSTM's guide all confim that this one for sure drops off of the white wargs in northern Evendim near Ost Forod. However, at least one post also claims with some authority and detail that this trophy also drops off of the wargs around Dol Dinen. I killed around 120 of the wargs around Dol Dinen last night to no avail. This doesn't prove that the trophy doesn't drop there, but I am now inclined to solely work on the Evendim wargs since more people seem to confirm that it does indeed drop there. Castinatcha has confirmed that they recently got the trophy off the wargs north of Ost Forod in Evendim. CSTM's guide also says that this one can drop in High Pass in the Misty Mountains.
Best Specific Location to hunt: There is a great density of warg mobs around Dol Dinen if this trophy does indeed drop there. I was able to average around 2 kills per minute. However we need more confirmation that this trophy can drop there. There is a decent density of white wargs north and northwest of Ost Forod in Tyrn Fornech.

    Undamaged White-wolf Corpse
    Drops off of: White-Mane Wolf
    Level of mobs: 47
    Location: High Pass, Misty Mountains
Best Specific Location to hunt: ???
Note: Took me well over 100 kills(probably closer to 200 than 100) to finally get it to drop. The best concentration of wolves that I found was the frozen lake of Northarn as well as the Gauredan village of Erforgh Cleft. Wolves share spawns with worms, so might kill worms as well for more chances of wolf-spawns.

    Undamaged Winter-tusk Skull
    Drops off of: ???
    Level of mobs: ???
Location: CSTM's trophy guide lists this as dropping off of winter-tusks in Lansi-Ma in Forochel
Best Specific Location to hunt: ???

    Undamaged Winter-worm Corpse
    Drops off of: Winter-Worm
    Level of mobs: 46-47
Location: CSTM's trophy guide lists this as dropping off of winter-worms in Talvi-Muri in Forochel
Best Specific Location to hunt: Hot-springs north of Zigilund in Forochel
Note: Quite fast respawn rate, loads of worms. Be careful of the level 47 signature worms if you're a bit low in level.

    Undamaged Wolverine Corpse
    Drops off of: ???
    Level of mobs: ???
Location: CSTM's trophy guide lists this as dropping off of wolverines in Taur Orthon in Forochel
Best Specific Location to hunt: ???

So if you have acquired any of these trophies and information that can help fill in the blanks here, please post and tell us what you know!

I couldn't really find a place where a guide like this seemed appropriate, so moderators if there is a better place for this to go, please feel free to move it there. Thank you!

    Re: Trophy Hunting Guide

    I can confirm the following:

Black Bear Corpse drops off Barkshredder Bears in the Old Forest.
Brown Bear Corpse drops off Hungry Downs Bears, just south of Othrikar in North Downs.
Barghest Corpse drops off Bhargests in Fields of Fornost around 10s 59w... southeast of Glirost. Theres a small circle like area with a bunch of bhargests and some of those Gloom things. I was there for about 20 mintues and I got one.

Currently working on the Warg trophy north of Ost Forod as I have heard its the best place to get it.

If you are on Meneldor server, feel free to IM me.

Edit: I just got the Warg Corpse to drop off a Ravenous Twilight-howler in North Evendim, Tyrn Fornech specifically, just north west of Ost Forod. My loc at the time was 6.4s, 67.0w. Didn't take very long at all!

    Re: Trophy Hunting Guide

I've just killed 220 Ravenous Twilight Howlers(give or take 10) running between Duskencleft & Even-rills.
    No drop so far.

For anyone else trying to farm here, I stronlgy suggest killing the bears as well because they share the spawn with the wargs(same probably goes for the robbers as well)

Probably doesn't matter but it was on a premium account without the Evendim pack.

    Keeping with the OP's formatting:

    Undamaged Sabre-tooth Corpse
    Drops off of: Kalpa-Kita
    Level of mobs: 45-46
    Location: Forochel
Best Specific Location to hunt: Leijona-Kotin, Itä-ma
Note: Quick respawn rate, about 20-30 Kalpa-Kita in total in this area and they respawn before you've cleared it all.

In 274 kills I got 2 drops. First one at 121 kills, second one at 176.
Took my hunter(lvl 64, ill equipped) about 80 minutes to kill 274 Kalpa-Kita

I had a drop after just 13 kills, second drop at 28 kills. Luck I'm sure, but it's a good place to farm

(and I'm doing multiple posts so no one will miss an update, and also, how am I ever going to get my post count up? )

    Undamaged Black Bear Corpse
Just want to confirm this drop, everything is accurate apart from mob level, which is 18 in Withywindle Crossing.

    Level of mobs: 47
    Location: High Pass, Misty Mountains

    Great thread.
Got the brown bear corpse off the hungry downs-bears near Othrikar last week and just got the barghest corpse after only killing 5 or 6 in the Fields of Fornost area. Going to try and get the black bear later this week hopefully...

Thanks to all of you fellow trophy hunters who have contributed so far! I have updated the OP with a lot of the info you have contributed.

On another note, I am still working on getting the warg trophy (now and then). I have killed upwards of 300 of the Ravenous Twilight Howlers in Tyrn Fornech and haven't gotten one yet! Then my brother was up there with his champ to mine gold and got one off one of the first ones he happened to kill! Whenever you want you something, it never drops! )

Thumbs up Re: Trophy Hunting Guide

I have gotten 2 wolverine pelts to drop just north west of the village of Kauppa-Kohta in Forochel. I only killed about 40 or so total as part of some quests and got both of them within my first handful of kills, although they each dropped on different days. I've been wanting a black bear trophy so I'm going to head into the Old Forest and do some hunting! Thank you for this thread!

I can confirm that you get Undamaged Cave-Troll Head from the "Cave-troll Drummer" in goblin town, Thundergrot is the sub-area. They are 49-50. I didn't see any other trolls in goblintown, and I only killed the 10 or so for the quest.

Frost Antlers definitely drop off the mooses in Ita Ma, Forochel. I got quite a few just from killing them for various quests. They are BOUND to character though, which is annoying, and I can't pass them to my only character with Inn League rep for the special smoking moose head.

    Re: Trophy Hunting Guide

For Wolverines, there is a little clump of a dozen of them near the signature wolverine you kill for a quest. They are the best place to get them, as they respawn reasonably fast (due to the quest).

For frost antlers there are two places. The first is just off the road as you're riding into Kauppa-Kohta. As you're coming down the hill from Ost Forod, to the right as you're on the slope is a large area with up to 20 moose. The other place is in the chasm heading to Pynti-Peldot from Kauppa-Kohta. There are a few passages off the main road with them (also a decent enough place to pick up wolverines, as they can spawn there too).

Hey, this thread has become my unofficial bible to trophy hunting! Im just writing to confirm about the location to get the quickest trophy drop if your looking for a WARGH Trophy, which, in my opinion, is one of the coolest looking trophies. North West of Ost Forod, close to a raider encampment, high up on the hills, is a location which has a lot of wargs and bears. I was there for maybe half and hour and i got a drop. The respawn rate is pretty fast as well. Thank you for this thread and i hope to see more updates on locations of other trophies to be hunted! Cheers and happy hunting everyone!

I don't think it's on your list, but I got a barghest in the Fields of Fornost. Have also gotten the Frost Antlers in Forochel, those weren't bound, though - I made them into a trophy and gave them to a kinmate. And that was yesterday.

My two 50-lb salmon WERE bound to me, though - my first, and then second, right in a row. Vendored one, all my wall hooks are taken, so I'll either have to take something down, or put the other one in storage - already have trout and darter trophies up and how many fish trophies does a house need?

Still, I was eminently grateful to replace the never ever used Lady of the Streams title with The Complete Angler

    Wink Re: Trophy Hunting Guide

I have been hunting tons of barghests in the Fields of Fornost and I still haven't gotten a barghest corpse. Just my luck

EDIT: I was about 30 min-40 min into my hunt, and I killed about 80 barghests. When i was just about to log off, I went to this mound a bit east from where I was hunting, and I killed about 6 barghests there. The last one i looted had the corpse. My exact location was 10.7S, and 58.4W

I would suggest hunting a bit to the east of there as well. There are certain spots that are entrances to tombs,or ruins, or mounds (which you cannot enter i believe). I hope this helps! Now to go get the brown bear corpse...

    Re: Trophy Hunting Guide

Hi everyone!I must say I am quite lucky on getting these items... From all I managed to get so far, I will give you enough information about locations.

Undamaged Black Bear corpse - Go to the Old Forest and hunt as many black bears as possible in Withywindle Crossing. I got mine from there after 200 kills. And you can also make use of the hides or sell them on the AH for other players in need of developing their crafting skills.

Undamaged Brown Bear corpse - Go to the North Downs and reach Nan Amlug West through the skirmish camp. I got mine after 20 kills. In fact, all brown bears in the region should drop but some threads referred that specific area.

Undamaged Tundra Bear corpse - Go to Itä-Ma and Länsi-Mâ. Explore that corridor killing all bears you may find. I got 3 on an average of 50 kills.

Undamaged Sabretooth corpse - Same as above - Got 2 after 80 kills.

Undamaged Frost-antler Head - I got one in the same area in Forochel... it is the item I have more difficulties in finding. And on an unlucky day, I had gotten one in Taur Orthon but a kin of mine got it and it bounds immediately... I was really mad. I am still killing (almost 500!) to get one for the Inn League Association.

Undamaged Barghest Corpse - I went to Fields of Fornost on the way to Evendin. Those are the only ones that drop. Very ugly and disappointing trophy though. Got one after 30 kills.

Undamaged Winter-worm Corpse - On chasing Zeal trait I killed 120+340 to get 3 of these corpses behind Zigilgund.

Undamaged Winter-tusk Skull - Well, be patient. That is not easy to get at all. Hunters are good soloing but be warned... I got one after 50 kills in Forochel near Zigilgund. Very hard kills...

Undamaged Cave-troll Head - Not an easy one as well. I recommend level 50 up and a small fellowship. Go to Goblin Town and get those Troll Drummers down. i got mine after 4 kills. I have friends that had to go there more than 10 times though.

Undamaged Wolverine Corpse - This is the one I am still looking after. I have killed 30 so far. They drop from wolverines in Taur Orthon that is for sure.

Recommendation: Loads of patient and a good coffee or bear on the side.

    Good hunting fellow brothers.

    Post Alright everyone...!

I know this is about 2 years old, and not sure if people still use it...BUT...as others have said, it's quite useful.

I thought I'd ditto what's already been said, as I've found it (mostly) to be accurate. I'm not sure on drop rates, or what variables play into them. That said, I've decided to list a few extra things compared to what's been posted before, and I'll do so by area per post. For the first one...

    Findings From Fornost:

    ~Undamaged Barghest Corpse~
Drops off of: 3-types; Cruel-Grip, Fell-Grip, Dread (4th type, 'Clawing', too low)
    Level of mobs: 25-27
Location: Fields of Fornost - North Downs
Best Specific Location to hunt: Along this line; (10.7s, 58.4w - 10.2s, 58.1w - 10.0s, 57.7w). I found roughly 20-30 barghest in an ovaled area around those coordinates. The area has 3 main ruins/graves, and runs along two ridges (one drop off, one rock face) which are parallel and perpendicular. You can run 'circuits' starting from where the two ridges meet; around the left of the area until the path downward, and then back up the right along the ridge until returning to your starting point.
Extra Notes: I killed the ghosts and bats in the area as well, because I believe they share spawns with the barghests. Doing this will increase your chances to maintain a high number each circuit. Assuming 30 per circuit, it took me 10 rounds (around 300 kills) to attain the trophy-barter item. It dropped from a (lvl)26 Cruel-Grip. The character I used was a level 40 human hunter equipped with the Pristine Arnorian Bow. (You can see him in my signature.)

    ~Undamaged Brown Bear Pelt~
Drops off of: 2-types; Maddened, Dreadful-Field (3rd type, Deadly, too low)
    Level of mobs: 24-26
    Location: Fornost - North Downs
Best Specific Location: Triangulated between Amon Amrun, Falconer's Tower, and the main road/sign around 10.4s, 54.9w. Again, there are roughly 20-30, but this is a MUCH larger area. The spawns are somewhat sporadic and scattered. You can run circuits around the ridges between the triangulated points. (You'll see what I mean when you go there.)
Extra Notes: Again, assuming 30 per circuit, it took me about 5-6 laps (or around 150 kills). I believe the wargs in the area share respawn with the bears, so pop them off while you're at it to ensure better results. The trophy-barter item dropped off a (lvl)25 Dreadful-Field Bear for me. My character was still the level 40 human hunter equipped with the Pristine Arnorian Bow. Most monsters died within 4 shots.

As time, memory, and notes allow...I'll try to post about other locations as well. The next post will likely be Forochel.
