Thanks for the fight Defeelher. I have a defiler myself which I essentially solo'd and 1v1'd up to r7 so I had a fairly good idea how to beat you (up until update 2 I was pretty unstoppable too (if I do say so myself)). There were a few things which I thought you could do better but nonetheless, I think r6 with Blood of Fire will be a game-changer and my best bet will be to trait shield and hope for a draw. I'd still like to try you with spear when you get there, defilers are always fun fights because you have time to think about them rather than just getting into a rhythm and duking it out until someone dies.
See you out there
-Dirrk
Oh and if you ever want to nerd out on defiler tactics in 1v1's I'd be happy to oblige.
EDIT: Also thanks to Soulmate, Gravoid, Kummas, Brazing and another r5 defiler who's name I'm afraid I can't remember for some late 1v1's which got me my Warrior title in the end. Good fun. =)
Was a good fight Stanimir! Also thanks to Haldryt (I think?) for a rare chance to 1v1 a Captain...you had me sweatin. Was pure luck that I stunned you near the end before you managed to Last Stand, although I'm glad the knockdown from Pounce waited that long to finally go off, as I wouldn't have been smart enough to do that on purpose :P
And Dirrk, I'm still gunnin for you after our two extremely close fights the other week! One'a these days, son...you won't see me, but I'll sure see you
Hi, my name is Chomperson, I am a (most likely dead) Warg, and III LOOOOOVE YOOOOUUUU

Any tips are appreciated - you put out way more DPS than I was expecting, and managed your power pool very well. I don't get many warden fights, the few that I do get are hit and miss success wise. Do you have a first age by chance?
Right now my biggest concerns are when (or even if) to apply the defiler diseases - although, I understand the big -power disease comes at a later rank that I'd probably always want to apply first, and BOF well definitely be a big boon once I get it.
Edit: To the hunter that tried to CC me and port away... shame on you!
Nope, just a second ager for me, and my armour is just a hotch-potch of quest rewards/crafted/instance drops. There's a lot of room for improvement in my build despite my morale pool. The only thing I'll say is that despite my 2nd age LI's, I did put a lot of effort into them and imo they are as good as they can be (aside from not being 1st ages).
As far as tips are concerned, first thing is that you should never be cutting a fear short by an errant auto-attack. When I'm feared, I'm purposely trying to get in front of you for just that. Turn them off asap after you fear. Secondly, well it's personal preference I suppose but I never use my big heal in a 1v1. I just never thought it helped as much in the long-term. Instead, when I feared I would put on my induction HoT (sorry, I'm terrible with skill names). That, plus the two other HoTs are usually too much for anyone to make a serious dent into, aside from OP burgs (I hates them). With 3 HoTs up and running, your morale should stay high and constant so focus on burning me down, slowly and surely. Your melee skill with the bleed is the best bet, the other melee skill I avoid entirely since I don't want the stun to proc. Which brings me onto timing fears. I wait at least 45s between fears so there is no DR and I can get the most out of the fear duration. Getting an induction HoT and an induction DoT is the most I expect from the fear.
Finally power. The big issue with defilers unfortunately. My approach was basically to never panic. Always use skills sparingly. Let HoTs and DoTs do their work as far as you can afford to before refreshing them. Remember a defiler fight is a marathon, not a sprint. Despite that, I always tend to find myself using a power pot or two, depending on the sturdiness of the opposition, it's just the nature of the class I guess.
Oh and trait damage (if your weren't already). An opponent of mine once parsed a fight in which he did over 20k damage and still lost. Starting morale is not the issue when HoTs and heals are involved since they raise your "effective morale" way beyond what it says at the start. Traiting damage not only increases your damage (obviously), but increases your heals (I figure most already knew this but no harm in saying again in case there are some that don't).
Anyway I'm sorry to everyone for the slight derail. Was going to PM this but I thought there may be others who were interested. Didn't really want to start a new thread either so here it is.
./derail off
EDIT: Sorry I forgot to respond regarding diseases. Basically apart from the -vitality one I never really bothered with them. Even if the opponent pots it, it's still a 800-1300 hit to starting morale which is priceless in a war of attrition. I never really played around with the flies after they were adjusted to return power. If you can get it on easily then go for it but I wouldn't get caught into a trap of HAVING to get it on. It's cool but not necessarily necessary. The -might/will/armour disease is also pretty nice vs. Guards especially. Basically, if you're going to stand still and try to get an induction skill off, your best bet is to use something that's going to do damage, i.e. the gourd with the bleed. Got to get that freeps morale down whilst you still have power....
[QUOTE=pibob314;5593438]...Lots of good stuff from Dirrk...QUOTE]
I know that was targeted at Def, but thanks for that post, some great feedback and somethings I hadn't considered. I have always felt iffy about our melee dps skill with a chance to proc a stun, interesting to see that you avoid it entirely.
In Isengard defiler's flies are *supposed* to be getting an upgrade, will be interesting to see if it helps with our power management. As Def was saying our disease debuff timing can be trying, few things more frustrating than finally getting off a nice debuff induction only to see it vanish a few seconds later.
Anyways cheers.

Sorry about that, sincerely. I'd be willing to give it another go with me or I'm sure she'd like the chance as well. It was a bad call on my part. Sorry.
No matter, I got payed back there so I think we're cool.

It'd probably help my cause if DS decided to do real damage and your CtF took the fight off.
EDIT: To the protective bit: It was me and maybe 1-2 other creeps? Surrounded by many more freeps. It was obviously consensual given that I had just fought him and was fighting you after you jumped.
It boggles me, but doesn't really matter...lol.

If you're referring to the raid, I had no part in that.
EDIT 3:
Just for clarification, it really doesn't matter to me about the KB. I was just confused. The fight was over.

Dine, I really don't know what else to say man. I said I'm sorry for interfering and I am.

I can't explain my other half other than to say he saw DR (which I was ready for) lol. I yelled at him too...hard core lol!
I wish we had another fight, but OD called when you came up there. Another time I am sure
Also ty to Hithy, Lokly, Fardoche, Montaro and all the other creeps for the fun fights. Fard, I could not buy a crit! GJ! You are a toughee for sure!

We'll get another one in. If RL cooperates, I'll be out a bit more now. I wouldn't mind R10 by RoI.
Lee -- let me know if you want to swap hats and do some reaver/champ fights on E. Starting to PvP with him.
I won't be around much at all this week sadly Work is kicking my tail. Hopefully soon though! Oh and perhaps I can even pull out my spider who I never play on E, as I am sure it would be good practice for your champ...as in, you can quickly get Weaver foe lol!

crit protection rank2 ftw hehe you didnt crited me much tonight but the first fight we had you finished me with a beautiful 2.2k call to fate and that really surprised me lol anyway its always a pleasure to fight you hope we'll get some more soon
ps: i'd like to thanks everyone that fought me tonight i really had fun fighting all of you

I went out on him over the weekend trying to get enough Dp for blade toss. lol!
The time before that, Shyma thoroughly roughhoused me. I couldn't find a solo fight to save my life honestly. I had one fight that I thought was a 1v1 with a guy named Alchain, but just as the fight was about to end, Kriptic, an LM and an R/k came in for the save. Blah!
Dine I'm pretty sure you have the better of me now 9 times out of 10 now that you've stopped trying to bleed kite me, my javelins are sad. The order in which you apply your wounds, which I'm sure is no accident, is the issue. I'll have to rethink my strategy against you.
Soulmate I'm sorry but I had to get revenge after you beat me yesterday. It was a closer fight than I thought until that last big crit with Wardens Triumph. You're a good warg and a couple more ranks will make you a fearsome opponent.
Wyver that was an awesome fight, glad we got to have it in the end. I was so good at not letting you get any diseases on for so long, but those flies at the end just finished me. Great fight, I really enjoyed it, hope you did too.
Gravoid, that was a bit cheeky, eating food and then charging straight away. I had my inventory open and was looking for my food too so was a bit unprepared. No matter though, I used Eldar's Grace and you still beat me so I can have no complaints.
Dirrk, thank you, though i think you sandbagged.... if you are ever creep side would love to talk defiler strategery... I think I got all of 2 offensive inductions off, which you potted ;P
Oh no certainly not. I was going all out all the way through and you beat me fair and square. Wasn't sure at the time but I thought you might be keyboard turning, if that's the case you should really try swivelling with your mouse when you're trying to get inductions off. My playstyle is a bit of a hybrid between the two, the key is, when you stand still and press the button for whatever skill you're using, your hands are idle, switch one to your mouse to try and keep yourself facing me.

uhmm oh.... oh my.... this would be very funny if we were in a voice chat channel together. I was trying reverse psychology. I am all about mouse look, my fleeting hope was if I straffed/spun away from you, you might think i was trying to get a non aggressive induction off (a self heal) so that you might not be as on the ball, and then at the last second i would spin to face you and get the induction off...... it was pretty much as fail as fail can get. No keyboard turning here, normally when using an induction i turn to keep my opponent always in my face, the issue is good (and i include you on this list) freeps will always step through, my hope was to appear... ok text getting way too long...... someday, somewhere, we will have a beer, and laugh over this.
cheers, Wyver

EDIT: And Meghalin. Not much I can do vs. a bubble, unfortunately. :-/ Good fight.
Ya, and not much I can do when I've just fought Montaro 2x and all my CDs are down (at CM) :-/ Arent both players supposed to jump up and down to signal the 1v1? LoL. No biggie- at least you recovered some points from earlier. Look forward to more

The record may be well in my favor, but none of those fights were easy or landslide victories. You keep me on my toes every fight and your DPS output is insane. As for my wounds, the order is definitely deliberate. If none are resisted, I am definitely able to even the playing field vs. hard-to-beat classes like WDNs/GRDs.
That fight where you got ambush off shows how close our fights are, since I was not able to recover from that initial burst of DPS.
I look forward to our next encounter. /salute

If I was about the points, and I've said this before...I'd be way higher than R9 by now. I'm sorry you feel slighted by the initiation of that 1v1. I watched you heal up and then target me, which I saw as a green light. Being near my rez meant that our 1v1 had a very high potential to be interrupted, so I wanted to get going.
I wasn't saying, in my last post, "Wow! Way to be cheap and use that bubble!" My comment was just that, honestly, there is little to nothing I can do once a bubble goes up at that stage in the fight.
BTW, since you were only out of combat long enough to heal yourself/regen, you were only worth ~50 to me. Out of curiosity, what other game-breaking CD were you missing? CoC isn't really vital against reavers unless you're just trying to quick-start an anthem. TS maybe?

Just a guess but maybe AotW. I don't consider it a CD, as I use it every time it's up and it's on a short CD, but some might. CotC is definitely a cooldown because it's 10 minutes unless you have the legacy to make it 5. I save it for wargs, heh. I don't use personally use heal CDs in 1:1s but others might, IDK.

Oh, CotC is, for sure, a CD, but I do not see its use vs. a reaver. It COULD allow you to quickly throw up AotFP, but you would be depriving yourself of using 3 damage-dealing, buff-providing ballads (as I think most minstrels probably open up with resonance, which definitely helps their cause more than an insta-AotFP).

/derail (I have no one to talk minstrel stuff with)...
Yeah, I don't use it with reavers unless I get resists on my ballads (*sigh*). It's also annoyingly bugged where you can have it up and still get silenced

Unfortunately, 8,940 morale doesn't feel like much against any tactical class.
